He has thrown 91 pitches though 6, so he will be hard pressed to get to the end without his arm falling off. Best of luck though.

Yeah, by a pitcher we traded away for an A's pitcher who threw a shutout for us yesterday.

Edit: And then tonight we get 🤬 shut out.

Meh, more like us playing like rookies again. I'd like to know how many times this season we've had the bases loaded and failed to score. Because it seems like it happens at least once every game. Ryan Roberts was the only one actually hitting anything tonight.
 
Giants have yet to be shutout this year :D

Giants drafted Chris Stratton as there 1st pick (#20 overall) in the 2012 MLB Draft. Awesome pick, 4 pitches that can strike people out and throw them all for strikes in any count. At 22 I don't think it will be to long before he makes it to the big leagues.

I was flipped to the A's game and Glenn Kuiper said the Giants, Indians and Rangers have yet to be shutout this year. This was when the Rangers were down 12-0 in the top of the 9th. No sooner had he said that Mike Napoli poked one over the fence.

Maybe when the Rangers come to town Cain can shut them out again like he did in the WS. :)
 
Cardinals at Astros for three starting tonight here in Houston. After that, a pretty long road trip which even has us going up against the Texas Rangers (TEX sweep of HOU?).

Well, I guess that's why they have the #2 pick, lol. But, still. He's 18. He's not going to be Bryce Harper but I think he will more than likely see a MLB pitcher 4 years from now.
 
Wow! The Astros were leading 9-4 or so heading into the 9th until the Cardinals started a scoring rally in the Top of the 9th as the Cardinals started to bat around. It even included a 2-run homer to trim the lead down to one run (9-8 after the 2-run bomb). But in the end, we managed to suppress the Cardinals' offensive surge and win 9-8. Astros managed 13 hits and committed only one error. St. Louis cashed in 12 hits and committed two errors. You Astros fans can proudly and safely breathe again after the would-be Cardinals' surge goes for not. A nice in-game note was that José Altuve picked up four hits in the game. I think he went 4 for 4.


What did your team(s) do today/tonight?
 
We are currently winning 7-0 against Colorado.

Kennedy is killing it! 11 strike outs so far after 5 innings.

Edit: he's out after 6 innings with a total of 12 strike outs. Had too many pitches in the 2nd inning so he hit the 100 mark in the 6th and they took him out.

Edit 2: First pitch to Gerrardo Para in the bottom of the 8th and he knocked it into the pool. :lol:

Final: 10-0 shutout. :)

Wrapping up the first week of June and here we are, back under .500.

Bah.

Had a good time at the game last Friday night, though, except for the getting drenched leaving the stadium part.

Jury is still out on Harper,i still think he needs to tighten up that swing. But then again the mlb draft is such a crap shoot. Its like the nfl draft

2 hits - both to A.J. Pierzinski (sp?) and only 2 walks - both in the 9th
 
We just lost just now. What began with three Cardinal runs in the first inning led to the Astros having to play catch-up all game long. They got one more to go up 4-0 early on. All we could manage was three runs. Rubber game is tomorrow night, and considering our track record this season in Rubber Games, we're probably going to lose the series because we've won only about one Rubber Game (1-6, I believe my Astros are). On the other hand, Bud Norris struck out a good number of Cardinals. Moral of the story: good pitching doesn't mean anything if your offense can't do much of anything on the scoreboard.


Again, STL at HOU- Rubber Game tomorrow night.
 
6-1 the final score. We won 2 of 3 from Colorado and now the A's come to town.

Goldschmidt is on fire lately! Was 3 for 4 tonight with 2 doubles and a home run, 3 RBI's.

Hill swinging a solid bat as well lately. 👍

They've talked about him a lot. Not sure what the hold up is.
 
I was away last night because of bad weather. Of course, the weather last night here in Houston was nothing compared to the deluge the Astros took last night. We got slaughtered 14-2 to the Cardinals. It was probably a good thing I didn't see all of the game because I couldn't stand to see my Astros just get hammered like this.

We're on the road for a three-city trip. The weekend series is a rematch of the 2005 World Series. I think we're at the San Francisco Giants to make a brief return to NL play. Then, I'm expecting the Astros to get swept at the Rangers on Father's Day weekend.

Tonight- Houston at the Chicago White Sox. Let's just hope none of the games goes from evening time to about 3:00 AM Eastern time. Of course, next season, Astros will likely have to head to the White Sox for American League play as we'll be in the American League next season.

9 hits and 6 runs in the top of the 2nd for the A's, a team with a combined batting average of less than .200. Hudson just pulled from the game.

Edit: Robbed of a HR to open our half of the 2nd by a fantastic catch in left field. But then we tacked on 3 runs with an RBI single and a 2 run HR that was absolutely killed by Jason Kubel.

Of course Upton ends the inning by getting caught stealing. :rolleyes: And now he wonders why Gibby benched him for the last two games....

So here's how it went on the SOUTH side of Chicago for my Astros... the Astros never trailed in this game. We put up the first four runs until the White Sox finally got on the board. We'd eventually be up 5-3 heading into the 9th inning. Chicago's own Brian Bogusevic blasted a three-run jack to put the Astros up 8-3. Hey- we've had fellow Houstonians for other teams score on us; what makes a Chicago boy scoring on a Chicago team any different? Anyhow, we won 8-3. So the 2012 Astros did what the 2005 Astros couldn't do- beat the White Sox. The White Sox put up 12 hits and made one error. We put up eight hits and were clean- no errors.


As a lighthearted note, I do think U.S Cellular Field is a great-looking ballpark, but I'll miss the Astros playing at Wrigley Field as a National League team next season. Wrigley Field is a lovely place for baseball (but a terrible one for football- like when that college football game was played at Wrigley Field some time ago).

I usually always favor the American League in these Interleague matches. That's why I get so worried during Interleague matches because I think there are some more talented teams and players in the AL.
