When did he play shorstop last? 2B is a completly different skill set that takes a while to master. What makes you think belt will still be on the team? I will say this,mo rivera was drafted as a a CF and well the rest is history. He couldn't hit,but he could field

He played SS in college, along with every other position. He was primary a SS and a closer until a friend of his transferred over who also happened to be a SS so he switched to C. With Posey's game smarts he could turn into a average defensive 2B at least, and with his bat he will be one of the best at the position. Although 2B would be a waste for his arm... God I love that arm.

Where the hell will Belt go? He is our 1B of the future. The last time a rookie came up with the same skill set he has was Adrian Gonzalez. Belt has tremendous power to all fields, tremendous plate discipline. He just happens to be taking a back seat to Huff who has a big contract so hes getting the plate appearances. All that with GG defense. Every scout say that the Giants should play Belt every day.. And they should, and hes hit well the last few games so hopefully he will get more playing time.

Belt is getting traded,he is still in the minors. Huff isnt that good, they should have kept belt in the bigs once camp broke

Belt is getting traded? Lol, you should stop using whatever source you're getting your information from. He isn't in the minors he is with the team, he started yesterday. Huff is old now, but you being a Yankee fan should know that Huff being 'not good' is a far cry from the truth.

I loved how the White Sox fans booed Cabrera last Friday when he noticed that the batters box was all wrong. LOL

Good win by the Tigers in the game last night. Verlander went the distance.

Not too long from now, it will be time to see how Ozzie Guillen gets treated as the Marlins start their home series against the Cubs tonight. Also, my Astros will continue their four-game swing at the Nationals. The ESPN types were talking about that wicked throw Rick Ankiel threw from deep to home plate from last night's game.

The pitching match in D.C. is Gio Gonzalez (WAS) vs. Wandy Rodriguez (HOU).

Anyone see the face plant dive that a Kansas outfielder made? Ouch.

Kennedy on the mound tonight for game #2 with the Pirates. If he's at least as good as Saunders was last night, should be another win under our belts. Speaking of Saunders, only 1 earned run in his first 14 innings this season. 👍

Pretty good throw.. But this is still the best. :sly:

In other news.. The left Hamels pitches tonight so Bochy decides to bench the Belt.. WTF.. Seriously. You did the same damn thing with Schierholtz when he came up. Belt kills lefty's, look at the freaking stats, do your damn homework Bochy. Seriously pisses me off with his stupid match-ups that make zero sense. He has been hitting the ball pretty good the last couple games, much better then Huff.

Nationals now 9-3, Astros now 4-7. We failed 1-0 in a low-hitting game. Only four hits by the Astros compared to five by the Nationals. No errors by either team. I don't care about Cleveland sports' woes- our woes are just as bad. We're going through the motions- Rockets can't save their fading playoff hopes, Astros can't win a game... same old song and dance. Sucks to be a Houston sports fan right now. This was a very quick game, too.

As for that Kansas City catch from yesterday, I saw that as one of Sportscenter's top plays. At least that guy can fall on his face and be a winner, unlike my can't-win-s:censored: Astros or Rockets.

Congrats to all other winners from tonight's games.

3rd time's a charm. 3rd baseman Hanley dinks it off the home run Sculpture for a 3-run HR (The third in the club's new park history) to go up on the Cubs 5-2 in the bottom of the 8th. 3 half-innings left. :)

Interesting stat I just learned: The Diamondbacks are #1 in all hitting categories this year during the first inning of all games played so far. 👍

Edit: Well that was a crappy game. Upton possibly out with a thumb injury. Red hot Chris Young injured his shoulder tonight jumping for a fly ball and running into the left field wall. Winning streak? Pshh. Here comes the losing streak..... :nervous:

I have the same "sources" as everyone else espn, mlbnetwork, msg, sny, etc. Yeah huff was marginally good like 7 years ago when he was a devil ray. He is ok now.
Actually you probably dont have sny or msg

Huff was marginally good?
Baseball players with similar careers.
Pat Burrell
Sean Casey
Tino Martinez
Johnny Damon
Trot Nixon
Corey Hart (is on pace to be in the same area)

You get the idea.. He was on a lot of really bad teams, and he has a questionable work ethic.

Edit: The only source that you listed that would say anything about Belt is MLBNetwork. And I know they haven't said anything to the extent of Belt being traded. ESPN is old fashioned, they still think 'Wins' is a reasonable stat to judge a pitcher on. The only respectable person in all of ESPN is Buster Olney.

I agree with you on all the players with the exception of damon, yes ESPN blows once peter gammons left all their baseball coverage went down hill, bias red sox crap. Buster olney is solid. Verducci at SI is respectable.
Granted ESPN does suck, but they are the #1 and their sources have some what shreds of truth.

Chris Young on the DL for the next 15 days.

And the losing skid hits game 2. With Atlanta coming to town tomorrow, things are not looking good.👎

Game 3 of 4 between Astros at Nationals. Astros trying to force a chance at a series split if they win tonight. Otherwise, it could be one game away from a four-game sweep of my Astros. Lucas Harrell (HOU) vs. Jordan Zimmerman (WAS), the mound matchup.

I heard about how the Texas Rangers smashed Boston last night with about six dingers to win 17-9 or whatever the score was. Have to see how the Red Sox try to exact revenge after taking a rout.

Astros failed again. What was a 1-0 lead for the Astros became a 3-2 loss. Big reason why was a terrible 8th inning as the Nationals had a walk-in run to tie followed by a hit to put the Nationals ahead for good. That's now four straight losses for the Astros. Oh, and the Nationals are now 10-4. I know the season just started, but it already looks over for the Astros. As if they're bound to do worse (or marginally better) than last season's 56-win campaign.

Only the Cubs, Padres, and Twins have worse records, both with three wins each. San Diego has nine losses at present. As of now, though, the Padres are still playing (down 7-1 to Colorado in the Bot. of the 5th).

SAN FRANCISCO -- As anticipated, Giants closer Brian Wilson will undergo reconstructive surgery, commonly known as Tommy John surgery, to repair his right (throwing) elbow Thursday.

Famed orthopedist James Andrews will perform the procedure on Wilson, 30, at his Pensacola, Fla., clinic. Giants team orthopedist Ken Akizuki will be on hand to assist. Andrews also handled Wilson's first Tommy John surgery in 2003. Wilson resumed pitching in 2004, made his Major League debut two years later and proceeded to make three National League All-Star teams.

Asked whether Wilson could resume pitching after about a year, which would be an accelerated recovery, Giants head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner remained noncommittal.

"I guess anything's possible, but we'll see after the surgery," Groeschner said.

Wilson pitched erratically but recorded a save last Thursday at Colorado. One day later, he informed the Giants' medical staff of his physical discomfort. The Giants then made Wilson's injury public Saturday while declaring him out for the season.

Right-hander Santiago Casilla has inherited the closer's role in Wilson's absence. Casilla pitched a shutout ninth to save San Francisco's 4-2 triumph Tuesday over Philadelphia.

Manager Bruce Bochy said that he expected Wilson to rejoin the team during its 10-day, nine-game homestand that starts April 27.

Yeah, the dude hasn't been healthy since he struck out Cruz to end the World Series. With the amazing work ethic Wilson has he should have a solid recovery.

Pitching duel between Cain and Lee was epic. Bochy pulled Cain out for a PH in the bottom of the ninth as the pitchers spot was leading off, otherwise he would done the 10th inning along with Lee.

Cain 9IP 2H 0ER 1BB 4K

Lee 10IP 7H 0ER 0BB 7K

Ended with a Melky Cabrera single to right field scoring Brandon Belt.

Mota had a hilarious way of celebrating.

Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez hangs it up. Care to offer any thoughts on his career and Hall of Fame prospect?

Meanwhile, my Astros will just try to avoid being the Nationals' b:censored:es in Washington's sweep attempt. Good luck to your boys.

Looks like the Marlins figured out how to swing a bat. Swept the Cubbies.

Also, Pudge is the man. I'll never forget the 2003 playoffs. Thanks to Pudge and Steve Bartman, we have that 2nd ring.

ASTROS WIN! No, let me repeat that- ASTROS WIN!!! Astros led from wire-to-wire. It began with a 5-0 lead where the Astros cashed in three triples in the very first inning. This was a night where offense was the name of the game. When the Nationals moved closer with a 5-4 score after an RBI and a three-run jack, the Astros just laid out extra lumber to win 11-4. Astros had 17 hits compared to the Nationals' 11 hits. No errors. Finally some GOOD news about a Houston team after I've ranted so much on Houston teams losing. Oh... and we prevented getting swept. The Astros and Nationals don't see each other again until August in Houston.

So, uh... how did your team(s) do today or tonight?

Well we were down 2-0 after the first couple innings. Caught up and tied it with some great base running. Then Collmenter had two hitters get lucky hits and Gibson took him out and replaced him with a reliever who promptly gave up 3 runs.

Should have left Collmenter in. Looks like we're headed for yet another loss. And so begins our slide down the rankings.

Edit: Now down 7-2. Turned it off. 👎

We're 4-9. Albert hasn't hit a HR yet, but hit three doubles last night.

Yeah what is it 60ab's without a homer, yikes. When is it time to start worrying? Historically he is always a slow starter, but come on
