YES!!!

Metal Gear Solid: Rising might become my favorite mgs game ever. And
thats saying alot.

...I might change my username to "MGSR Raiden!"

2011, ftw.

MGSR looks so cool! My favourite character was Raiden and I was appalled that he was an NPC in MGS4.

After being bombarded on Twitter, Hideo Kojima has revealed that Metal Gear Solid: Rising was cancelled in a hush-hush manner and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, as its successor, is not the same game. It takes place after Metal Gear Solid 4 and not before, as once believed.

“The old Rising that was being prototyped at Kojima Productions looked visually like Metal Gear, but it was 30 frames per second and required complicated controls,” said Kojima. “However, when the studio was unable to focus the game’s direction, it was unceremoniously canceled. That’s when Platinum Games stepped in, expressing interest in the project and asking to get involved.”

“I made one request of Platinum: a cool Raiden who moves nice and smooth at 60 frames per second,” he said.

The game doesn’t necessarily take place before or after Metal Gear Solid 4, but it does take place in the same Metal Gear universe. “We’ve only said that the period setting is several years after MGS4. Metal Gear Rising is not part of the Metal Gear Solid series. At present, we can’t say more than this.”

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (formerly Metal Gear Solid: Rising) is, arguably, one of the most troubled titles that, in this case, re-debuted at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards. First teased back at E3 2010, the title has long-endured talk of development troubles – and even speculation that Rising was flat-out cancelled at one point.

Now that Revengeance is back on our radar and, theoretically, on track for actual release, fan-favorite game developer, Hideo Kojima, as well as a few of his colleagues are going on-record about the title’s various set-backs and delays – flat out confirming that, at one point, the game was entirely scrapped

According to AndriaSang, Rising producer, Yuji Korekado, appeared on the Hideraji podcast and was extremely frank about what happened in the months between the original Rising reveal and the Revengeance re-branding. In an abbreviated version of the story, Kojima and the team initially set-out to create a new gameplay experience in the series – the slice and dice anything mechanic that was shown in prior Metal Gear Rising trailers (and rumored to be designed specifically with Kinect and PlayStation Move in mind).

However, after creating the game – the combat mechanic alone wasn’t enough and, as the team experimented with different ideas, the experience became muddled and the developers lost sight of their core idea. As a result, Kojima cancelled the project entirely – until Platinum Games (Bayonetta and Vanquish) expressed an interest in completing the title’s development.

That said, many fans assumed that because the Bayonetta developer was in charge of carrying Revengeance across the finish line, that automatically meant that Bayonetta lead, Hideki Kamiya, was also working on the project – speculation that Kamiya has, once again, dismissed (this time via Twitter):

I am glad for rising and I am sure I will pick it up since I am a Metal gear fan boy but i still would like a proper metal gear continuation with snake or a snake clone or something similar.

it turns out RIsing was originally cancelled this is coming from Digital Spy

''Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance had at one point been canceled before shifting developers to Platinum Games.

On the Japanese Hideraji podcast, reported and translated by Andriasang, it was revealed that the game had in fact been canceled.

Kojima Productions had begun development of the game with the concept that players can chop anything. However, part way through development the studio lost focus and ran into technical issues with the game.

"The old Rising that was being prototyped at Kojima Productions looked visually like Metal Gear, but it was 30 frames per second and required complicated controls," Hideo Kojima revealed on Twitter.

As a result, Kojima Productions silently canceled the game. At that point Platinum Games approached Kojima about resuming development.

"I made one request of Platinum: a cool Raiden who moves nice and smooth at 60 frames per second," Kojima's tweet added. Platinum Games accomplished both of those goals, and development was shifted to that studio.

Though Platinum Games is developing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, studio head and creator of Resident Evil and Bayonetta Hideki Kamiya will not be involved in the project.

Over the weekend, a new trailer was revealed for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards."

So, they cancelled a game because, among other reasons, it could only be made at 30fps? Are you freaking kidding me? Did 30 fps suddenly become unplayable or something?

Sometimes I feel that some of these game developers are completely out of touch with the real world, and are only in it to hype their own achievements.

there may be something lost in translations i think on awhole they were just having alot of trouble making the game they be came unfocused also

Now I've lost interest. I hated Bayonetta and since this is just Bayonetta with Raiden, they've now lost a potential sale. They should have just persevered with the original concept for Rising, instead of turning it into this. :(

I don't like the new concept of button masching.

Also Raiden taken a Metal gear down alone with one hand amkes Snake look like an über-noob. They lost focus. The main boss being taken down like that made me lost all interest

Waiting for MGS5

How do you know just by what little we have seen that it is bayonetta with Raidin that is kinda a quick juddgment of the game so far.
