Everyone can calm down about the 360 news. Kotaku found a listing on GamePress that kind of gives things away a bit. MGS Rising is on PC, PS3, and XBOX 360. Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker is a PSP exclusive, and I will guess a Portable Ops sequel, making the Big Boss image sensical.

And Joystiq also has a new Castlevania title from Konami.

AMEN :)! Now im more relaxed... 👍

If you checked that link you would see. Sony has more new exclusive "proper titles" as you say, than anyone else.

I read that entire thread and could not find the names of those specific 5 games you highlighted in your previous post.

Many would argue that franchises get stale, and the real value is creating new original IPs to grow even bigger franchises.... after all, MGS, GT, and many others were "new" at one point as well.

I would argue the opposite, I prefer tried and tested franchises and are really skeptical of new IP's as many of them become failures. Yes, things like GT,MGS etc were new at some point but back in those days there was alot less game development and we didnt have the glut of game releases we see today.

As a result there are too many mediorce releases and not enough quality ones, something which I feel tried and tested IP's find easier to produce. MGS has outdone themselves on every major game.

Not only that, but the jury is still out whether or not it really does hurt the PS3, and PS3 users just because the 360 will get a version of FFXIII, let alone a new MGS game that no one knows anything about yet.

I think it will hurt the PS3 because the simple fact is they will get an MGS game so in the average consumers eyes there is no longer a reason to buy a PS3. One of my mates bought a PS3 purely for MGS4, if this had come out before it he would have just bought a 360.

To some an MGS game is an MGS game, they are not interested in the differences or details which we might weigh up.

It did say sneak in. But think about Raiden in MGS4. He was a ninja in every way. One second Snake is staring down 20 Geckos, then suddenly there is Raiden, openly taking them all down. He sneaks in, and then takes out the threat in the open, with no need to hide.

I imagine you will have to get past security, but then get inside and go to town with your ballet shoes and katana.

Ahem-- he's a ranger. I imagine it will be a tracking/assassination style game instead of stealth/infiltration.

I hope for my sake, you're wrong! I don't want to play as a 'hack 'n slash' killer. That would suck. It's bad enough we play as Raiden. Bah!

It would be more like Assassin's Creed instead of a hack n slash, I guess. But more nature-y. I don't know what to think.

Anyway, about Peace Walker: Was that supposed to be Big Boss, Solidus, Liquid, and Solid all in the same game? How else could there be four Snakes like that?

It would be quite funny if MS have put down a zillion whatever $$$ to get this exclusive MGS without any questions asked and Kojima has failed to tell them that its actually a card game.

I think it is just all new weird Kojima stuff. But it definitely isn't Solid, Solidus and Liquid. Only Solid looks just like Big Boss.

Well Kojima did basically call it a spin-off/side story today.

No, Solidus was an exact clone of BB. I'm thinking they all looked the same at one point and just aged differently.

And Snake lost all memory of this? Let me guess, admantium bullet to the head.

Hey 360 fanboiz! How does it feel to have a kinda almost maybe we're not telling you the whole story exclusive for about 24 hours?
Heheheh, I'd love to see their expressions when they realise the stunning coup de grace they think they just pulled off is not simply a side-story, but that it's not going to be the exclusive they've all been begging for.

And now to build on my previous statement...

It would be quite funny if MS have put down a zillion whatever $$$ to get this exclusive MGS without any questions asked only to find the game is multiplatform!

Atleast Sony gets both the new MGS games and more crucially the one which is not a spin off. Not releasing any MGS on Playstation in Japan would be nuts which is why Konami would never sign up to that.

has anyone herd anything about Metal Gear Arcade? i didnt get a chance to see the konami confrence and it was announced. anyone know what in entails?

I was getting ready to ask the same thing.

I have seen reports that the original MGS will be on the PlayStation Store on June 18th.

I also finally got to see the Peace Walker video in HD and I am less convinced that the four Snakes are Liquid, Solid, and Solidus. They all appear to have minor outfit differences, but they each have the eye patch over their right eye. Big Boss only had it because he lost an eye. So unless they are purposely disguising themselves I do not think that it is the three known Snakes.

im surprised MGS1 is just now coming to the PS store. if i remember correctly going through the japanese store i do remember seeing MGS1 on the japanese store along with alot of other PS1 games like biohazard (resident evil) that im surprised we haven't received in NA/EU

but looking on you tube for the part of konamis press conference i found the answer. apparently they are taking MGO and advancing it to the coin op machines. dont get me wrong it wont be MGO but it will be the same concept but updated. i see this working well in japan where coin op machines are still played all the time, but here in America arcades are almost dead. you have some around still but nothing like those over in japan. and im not sure about EU but i would think its close to the same there.

Coin Op? So, I can go play MGO in a museum?

Castlevania looks pretty awesome too! So that's what the mask thing was about. (sorry if this has already been discussed)

New Castlevania game, developed by Kojima Productions is all I know, and quite frankly, that may be enough.

Where did you see the video? Is it one of the Sony E3 2009 videos from the PS Store? If so, which one? I don't feel like downloading them all.

XBox 360 and PS3. If you go to the Kojima Productions website and click on the E3 news section you should find a video there. I only check the Japanese page so maybe that's why no-one else has commented on it. It's scheduled for release next year apparently.

(edit) Here's the link: http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/e3_2009/castlevania/

You need to enter your date of birth before you can gain access.

ah thanks i didnt think to check the old masks page i was just looking at the E3 special page.

Part 2. That starts with Kazunouri Yamauchi and goes through all the individual PSP Go game announcements and then into the Uncharted 2 stuff.

In the past Sony has been good about providing the trailers separately for everything they show during presentations, but nothing yet. Kojima may be wanting to prevent frame by frame analysis, the way we have done with the two GT trailers. I know I saw multiple MGS4 trailer dissections all over the Internet last year.

Like I said above, you can watch all of the videos on the Kojima Productions website.

Ah, yeah. I originally saw two of them with it, so I wasn't sure. What could it be though? This is like a space paradox.

This is just my hunch and I could be completely wrong but perhaps it's a four player co-operative mode.

I also want to add that in the Peace Walker trailer there was a scene where a soldier was walking through a jungle when the bush he walks past stands up, is Big Boss, and then CQC's him. My wife was impressed. It was MGS3 style camo, not the octo-camo from MGS4 though. Knowing what to expect on a second viewing you can clearly make out that it is Big Boss though.

What could it be though?
Kojima being Kojima? It is probably all part of an overly complex plot by La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo.

Whoa! Hey now, these overly simple and likely obvious answers are not going to get us anywhere. :sly:

That could be a good idea, but I don't know why they wouldn't have Ocelot, Eva, and the rest of the team as playable then.

This all reminds me. Since this is a direct sequel to MGS3 does that mean I get to see this again?

And while looking for that, I found this:
