It looks like it has a good amount of damage. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/wrecked-supercars-and-exotics.52118/page-8#post-9706111Hard to tell just how much damage was done from the one picture, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was rebuilt like all the rest.
The carbon fiber survival cell was obviously intact.Looks like the door took most of the impact, so as long as the tub is ok, it'll probably "buff right out".![]()
Presumably some hardcore car enthusiasts, in a desperate effort to prevent any more F1s from being crashed, will eventally come up with an elaborate plan to assassinate Rowan Atkinson.
Seriously, this is the third time he's been involved in an F1 crash. It's starting to remind me of the bumbling of Mr. Bean himself.
Car enthusiast sees super car kept in museum or garage: "No! This car must be driven like it was meant to!"
Car enthusiast sees super car driven around on the street: "What a waste! That car deserves to be driven hard!"
Car enthusiast sees super car crashed as a result of being driven hard: "How could you dare crash this beautiful car!"
Car enthusiast sees super car crashed as a result of being driven hard: "Who cares?"
I'd add a bit to that, personally:Car enthusiast sees super car crashed as a result of being driven hard: "Who cares?"
Edit: I'd also add, having seen pictures, that I'd still question the guy's taste in colour schemes and interior fittings long before I'd question his driving skills.Car enthusiast sees super car crashed as a result of being driven hard: "Who cares? It'll be fully rebuilt anyway and McLaren will get another million for doing it..."
Still though, repairing Atkinson's F1 at 910,000 pounds? And that isn't one of those special editions either. I bet this guy's F1 will cost at least $1.1 million to repair, that is if McLaren decides to let the insurance total it."Involved" as in travelling in the same F1 convoy and not directly causing the accident in question? Sure.
Though if this is to be believed, I'll give him credit for trying to help.
Rowan's car was in much worse shape, immediately thought to be lost when the rear was uncovered.Still though, repairing Atkinson's F1 at 910,000 pounds? Glad everyone is okay though.
Why are we suddenly assuming the guy was driving like an asshat? The article in the first posts states the reasons are unknown. With no electronic systems to save you, it's well documented these cars will bite if control is lost for whatever reason.
Damage to the car is extensive, but is not quite as severe as the pictures imply - conditions were slippery so speed was not that great, just an unfortunate incident and probably the most significant of outcomes possible under the circumstances.
