Use of pistons is fairly limited now that I've tested them. It's fairly easy to make a door/opening 2 wide, but 3 wide is already a problem.

I tested pushing 1 closed piston with another piston, and with the right redstone placement the second one would open. But when closing the pistons they would close at the same time, leaving the second piston in place because it was still extended when the first one closed.

There could be a solution, but that would require a bit more complex redstone circuits.

It does, it would require you to use a repeater to delay the signal so that it will only retract the first piston once the second has retracted, takes a lot of wiring.

Or you can just kill three sheep.
Oh... I thought you needed to use shears to get the wool. Oh well, I'll need iron anyway, and I might as well be nice to the sheep and not kill them for now.

I actually plan on making a proof of concept hidden door soon. It's completely invisible.

I tested the hidden door too:

Made 1 pressure plate outside to open it and 1 inside to close it. (one way only)
Should be able to make it as wide as you want.

Also did some other testing. A closed sticky piston will not pull the block that sticks to it, when the piston is moved by another piston.

I *think* I might have just inadvertently crashed the server :o I accidentally activated a piston and it pushed a rail, the blocks went invisible and now I can't connect, did you ever upgrade to 1.7.2? I know there's a bukkit out for it!

Yeah seems like the server is down. It's taking to long to log in and I'm getting timed out errors. Though I can ping the server just fine. Seems like minecraft can find the machine but it can't find the port it needs to connect to. So yes I think WallRunner has indeed crashed the server.

He has indeed! It's back up now. I didn't realise there was a 1.7.2 Bukkit. I'll take a look.

*edit*
Updated :)

Dquan, are you able to give me that quick run-through on how to host my server on Bukkit? :D

Damn. Can't get the BorderCraft texture pack. It needs 64x64 pixel thingy and when I try it with that it lags unbearably. :nervous:

I played Borderlands for hours...

Getting the basic server up an running is a peice of cake. Download the latest version and run the batch file to start it. The configuration files are pretty much the same. It's when you start installing plugins that things start to get tricky.

Emulate windows and run the server?

My Emulator (Windows Parallels) can only use 512MB of RAM and the drivers are all virtual, which means it doesn't allow for Minecraft to run (The driver's can't be updated).

If anyone would like to jump on my server, the IP is currently: 5.29.122.118. If that doesn't work, i'll jump on my router and port forward so it uses my actual IP. *NOTE*: I am from Australia, so if you're not from around here, you're likely to lagg. :|

You can still run it on a mac, it's a jar file. You'll just have to run it from the terminal instead of using a batch file.

Is there anyway I can IM you so you could help me set up some plug-ins etc?

I keep getting *censored* unable to bind port

^ Fixed it by restarting the computer a few times. Running now.

If I connect by the private IP, will people using the Public IP be able to connect?

If you forward the minecraft port to the private IP, yes. You just give people your public IP for them to connect.

My Gates are working now! Check them out at /warp solitude You can only control them from the inside because I'm too lazy to make the redstone even more complicated, but there's one at the front gate and the back.

Speaking of the back, is anybody interested in building back there? there's a pretty sizeable area and the land is mostly flat with a few features. Just contact me if you see me on or talk in this thread if you want to build.

DQuaN I need some help setting a universal spawn spot.

My power is maximum. I have both a dam that has an overflow valve, and an awesome secret passage way that I don't really want to be a secret because it's 17 kinds of awesome.

Rykon, I've found a way to have two buttons control the secret door!

Attach one of those to the circuit, wire both buttons into the input line (He has a button there, just put a repeater facing the input block and then wire to that repeater, check out my setup for a visual guide), wire the output to your circuit and it works flawlessly!

The Button acts as a lever in this case so the doors even stay open but can be closed/opened by either button at any time! I'm going to redo my gate with these tomorrow so they can be opened from either side.

I really do not like the design of that, but if it works, it works. I'll think about rigging it up tomorrow potentially, but my patience may run a bit thin.

It's all about hiding the redstone wiring that annoys me, it's such a pain for me to intergrate that kind of thing into my house, i imagine it would be easy if you built from scratch, i guess i'll have to try and intergrate that though, looks pretty cool i think.

You'll need a plugin for that. I use spawnx. I'm happy to help but it will be a bit tricky as the bloody in-laws are here til tomorrow avo. Plus the time difference makes it even trickier. I'm sure we can find a slot somewhere though.

In the meantime look up some tutorial videos on YouTube. That's how I learned!
