:(:(:(:(:( I'm sad that I can't join your server, it looks like so much fun, but alas, my friend forgot the Minecraft account details. So do you guys get unlimited objects? I just got the Too Many Items mod.

BTW how do you get the powered Minecraft tracks to propel the Minecart?
 
^ You must use a lever and/or a button. Place them directly near the redstone powered rails, place the minecart on the rails, and hit the switch/lever. ;)

I don't know much about Minecraft. I'm kind of thinking about getting it, but I didn't know where else to ask questions, so I figured I'll go with the familiar GT Planet.

Anyways, I have a couple questions. If I buy the game right now (something like 22 bucks), will it start you off with nothing, and will it have multiplayer capability? In short, will it be exactly as in this video series?


Also, 22 bucks seems a bit steep. Do you guys think it's worth it? Will there ever actually be a full version to look forward to, and if so, is the money saved worth the final game?

Edit: Nevermind, read the OP. However, still wondering. You guys think it's worth it? And will it support a headset with a mic (e.g. Turtle Beach Earforce P11)? If so, I think I might get it, although I would like assurance that an actual full version will be released at some point in the future.

22 bucks gets you the full game, with single and multi player. Everything you need to get online and join our server is there right from the off. In single player you have the option to turn the game to 'Peaceful' mode which means no enemies and your health regenerates. If you leave it on Normal or Easy, you will get enemies spawning when it gets dark.

No matter what game type you choose, you will always start with nothing. Joining the GTP server is handy for learning as it rarely turns night time due to our time changing mods (They're installed on the server, no need for you to install them yourself) but it might be worth playing a single player game set to 'Peaceful' first just to get the hang of crafting.

There will be a full version, and it's coming in November I believe. Buying the game now means you will get the full version when it's released, so the money saved is definitely worth it IMO.

Sorry but where exactly is $22 bucks steep for a game? A tremendously fun game and addicting. You can litterly do anything and it will always be updated. He is releasing the full game in October or November and there is a massive update coming very soon (any day now). When they asked what he'd do when he finishes the game? Work on the first update.

Check out the minecraft forums and look at the mod forum. Unbelievable the stuff in there. Guys have developed engines, planes (that you fly), guns, team fortress portals, unlimited items, npc villages (which he beat the developer to)... If you can think of it there is probably a mod for it.

Great community when you find a good server, unlimited customization, fantastically supported and the ability to create anything you can think of.

And to think this is 1/3 the price of Black ops right now....well worth it.

You could have the website create a new password if you know your email(just click "Forgot password or username?" link after clicking to the log in page).

@Omamder5: It is well worth it's price right now. I've never played hundred of hours into a single game before. It gets more fun when you play on the server.

Yeah it's scary when you look back at the things you've created sometimes! It's definitely worth the money though.
 
Guess the Server RAM upgrade is going on right now, or within a few minutes, about 10 to 15 minutes the server will be down...

NYAAAAAARGH I've just spent ages editing my Minecraft.jar file only to find that MyCraft now no longer works! This is absolutely infuriating :banghead: Anyone got any suggestions as to what might be causing it to get stuck on 'Loading Hooks'?

On a lighter note though, the mod is very very pretty:

I have to say, when 1.8 arrives I might play totally vanilla, and try to retain from gameplay mods (ie: Dunnccc... Can you spawn me ----)

I've been doing that from the start. It's quite fun, and rewarding. I have asked for a few things at the beginning, but now when I want to start a new building I don't take anything with me, so it's like I'm starting a new survival world. And I'm sure Dunc and the mods have an easier time. ;)
 
I discovered Minecraft this summer and I've had a lot of fun playing on a hamachi server with my mates. We've spent the last couple of weeks building a race track complete with amenities and infrastructure. We're not quite done yet though. I'll take some screenshots next time I'm on the desktop PC and post them here if you're interested to see what we're up to. :)
