I'm surprised that people ain't complaining about it and saying things like "I ain't buying it because of no paint booth". I'm glad it's not a big deal to everyone. Right now we just need a great NASCAR game. Career mode, AI, physics, damage and online need's to be the focus. It seem like everyone is on board with the whole quality over quantity approach instead of asking for paint booth and extra series. I just hope they can deliver in those area's that I just name. Just because you take the quality over quantity approach doesn't mean it's gonna be an automatically great game. But it's a lot of positives with this company that I see.
I think the reason complaints are so few is just because the games before it haven't been worth the time, we're hungry for a solid game before we start demanding extras.

At the moment, I don't care about future updates. If the studio can't get it right from the release, then we have another NASCAR dud.

I get that...NR2003 is one of these days going to be an eyesore so we need a new NASCAR sim that plays like a sim.

Man I remember playing NASCAR Dirt to Daytona which was a NON-EA Nascar game and was better than the likes of Nascar 2006. That being said, the last NASCAR game I played was Nascar 2009 on PS3 and did some MP, but man I miss the good ol days.

The EA games were pretty decent but what I don't get is that there was a lot of hate put towards them.

I really think the best NASCAR game on the consoles was NASCAR 08 because you had the big series like Busch, Nextel, Craftsman and Whelen.

Plus, they had the "Car Of Tommorow"...sadly they were generic cars, but nevertheless it was a good game but I wouldn't agree with the soundtrack...eww, no.

Speaking of soundtrack...I really loved the NASCAR HEAT theme. Maybe it should make a comeback somehow...a new version would be pretty nice.

I also want a comeback of the "HIGH HIGH HIGH" sound you'd get from changing the sound effects volume.

So this game is going to be called NASCAR Heat: Evolution...

...so does that mean this is going to be like Dirt To Daytona or are we going from year to year, decade to decade?

Forgive me for nit-picking here, but I'm about to...

08 was better than 09 and really only looked better than 07. Thunder 2003 and 2004 split the top spot for EA NASCAR games.

I could get behind either, but I think those would come later.

  • Alcohol sponsors will be in the game. They said "Behind an age verification wall".

lol wut?

So if you're under age, you'll be treated the things like the classic Brad Keselowski "Blue Duece" car?

While everyone above the limit will see the actual sponsors?

I think they did it in NASCAR 15' when they added the Miller Lite cars and you had to enter your age to access them.

EDIT: Bad News :(

I loved Thunder. I think the fact there were more cars made it fun but using the car maker in 06 was so sloooooooow. Not the paint shop from 09 but the car creator from 06...

Well...at least they finally can put in these alcohol-sponsored cars.

But seriously, when I was a kid...I knew there was something wrong when I saw this:

On the back...it says RUSTY TIME.

Bruh, PS1 theme is better :D

NASCAR 2001 (PS1) is also good.

@LeGeNd-1 Woah, the PS1 theme is pretty good! :dopey: I have a slight yearning for the PC theme song, though. Papyrus had some good tunes also. I would totally recommend listening to the soundtrack of NASCAR Racing on the PS1...

I hope good intros make a comeback too.

yeah. After the eutechnyx distater most people just want a solid functioning game

2008 was the introduction of garbage rubberbanding AI. We have not had functioning AI since this game. I will always hate 08 because of this

EDIT: Bad News :(

That really sucks. They better make up for it with solid single player experience

So how would you explain the NASCAR Heat series to someone who may be hearing of it for the first time? What reason(s) would you give to someone to care about this new iteration?

I'll give it a shot. The series was an alternative to the EA NASCAR entries on the console side primarily but had a few PC versions. This new game is made by the same studio that made the old games, and presumably either there hasn't been much turnover in the studio or the studio chief have a standard they maintain as even their more questionable work hasn't thrown any major red flags. The rights to the game were bought by a company run by people who on the surface of things want to make a game that is what the fans want, and the president of said company worked for almost every company that made NASCAR games. Unfortunately that's all we have to go on until we see some gameplay.

I guess i will add some more info from what they been saying from twitter so far.

  • NASCAR heat evolution won't have a split screen mode
  • Expect a full roster of the drivers this Summer along with paint scheme's
  • The AI is being completely overhauled compared to the previous games. Good
  • Their new website is in production. Their not sure about a forum's just yet. (Just open one so we can give y'all feedback)
  • Online gameplay in NASCAR heat evolution will be server- based.
  • Developer diaries coming this summer.

Keeping my expectations low no matter what we see when pics and videos start to release. I just hope the game doesn't have any game breaking bug's when it release's. I know it's gonna have some bug's but hopefully not a lot and nothing major. I'm liking what I'm hearing so far though besides the paint booth and other series not being included which doesn't bother a lot.

@BKGlover It is true that NASCAR Heat was an alternative to NASCAR Thunder at the time, but it was also an alternative to Papyrus Racing Games' NASCAR Racing series.

That's right, there were three developers making a NASCAR game in 2000, 2001, and 2002.

Monster Games ended their license with NASCAR in 2002 with NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona.

Papyrus ended entirely as a delveloper in 2003 with NASCAR 2003 Season.

And then, EA's license expired in 2008 with NASCAR 09...and decided to stop making NASCAR games for the thousands of fans.

I get that NASCAR isn't the most popular sport in the world...but come on!

Most of the games Papyrus made were for PC, except for the 1996 release of NASCAR Racing, which was essentially NASCAR Racing 2 on the PS1 with an actual soundtrack, which most Papyrus games lacked.

The go-to game in that series is NASCAR Racing 2003 Season. Go to a NR2003 website and there will be plenty of cars, tracks, season updates and homages...

I really need to find my copy of NASCAR Heat on PC, because I really want to see which is the best out of the three for myself.

I played that one. Being brutally honest, it sucked. It felt as janky and thrown together as any of the SNES games did.

Damn. That's too bad, but I will pick up a copy of that game, even though it sounds pretty miserable.

You guys can throw the rotten tomatoes at me now, because I found my copy of NASCAR Heat in a desk, stuck inside of my big paper map for GTA V. :banghead: :dunce:

At least there aren't any scratches! It looks immaculate compared to other discs in my library. I wonder if it's military grade. :D

UPDATE: Well, apparently my laptop is complete junk, because the benchmark FPS on NASCAR Heat was 17 FPS, no joke.

I believe it. Nr2003 barely runs on mine at the lowest settings.

Strangely enough, NR2003 runs pretty okay on my computer. Been able to max out the game for most computers I've owned.

I decided to play NASCAR Heat. Monster Games did a good job and I see why people like the game. I decided to take a ton of screenshots so I put them in the spoiler below.

That was a TON, am I right?

Hey man. You missed a spot.

Shoot. Now the world will end because the kids now know that the premier NASCAR cup series is actually called the "Winston Cup Series". Brace for impact!
