Need Help With photoshop

Hey All.

I have a urgent question for you experts.

When I go around a car in a picture with the polyganol Lasso Tool to cut it out, I do my slection and then press ctrl+x to cut the car out, when I do this it has a soft edge, there is a white glow where I cut the car out, instead of a clean cut, hard edge. How can I stop this from happening?

If it is a setting somewhere where can I reset my photoshop settings?

ok I found out how to reset all prefernces, but for future refernce could someone tell me what I did to have the soft edge instead of a hard edge when I cut things out? The preference reset fixed it all

Ah thank you very much Now I know what I did wrong its all good, so if a Admin would like to remove this then thats ok
