nope, they didn't have to mess with the standards for 1080, and gt4 would run in HD.

ok, so, $10 dlc, 7.2 million units sold, lets go conservative, half the original purchasers buy the DLC... $36 million dollars, for putting tracks they already have into gt5.

Tracks they have on previous games not gt5 and im fairly certain they had to update the tracks for the ps3

Then it's simple, keep your money in protest and quit whining
 
the point is, $36 million, for a very little amount of work, on something that they could've put into the game from the start.

I'd bet that GT6 will be on the PS3, considering Sony is determined to maintain a 10 year life cycle on this system.

Ok, yes I did see some where that the new console would be in around 2015. 👍
I'll keep chipping away at GT5 till then, and I'll probably need a new PS3 by then too...:lol:

Very little amount of work? Are you a programmer working for PD or Turn10? How would you know how much work it takes to add an existing track?

Your missing the point they never promised or advertised that the test course would be there alot of people just assumed it would be. Now PD decide to add it and do work on it and you think they should add it for free? Its not missing if they didnt promise it

wow, and here's me thinking that a reasonable debate and discussion could be had...

having negative opinions on things does not make me a troll, or crazy, it makes me a person with a differing opinion. it's not about money, it's about principal. are you really happy to pay money to these people for stuff that should have been included in the retail sale price?
every single Gran Turismo game has had a high speed test course, featuring top speed runs, 0-400 meters and a 0-1km feature. this game did not include one, and is now selling it to you for extra. does this make you feel good?

Your argument flawed.

Your logic suggest DLC is just "stuff not included from the game from the start" , but what about COD map packs? Its no different.

Pretty sure in a racing game you're supposed to drive the cars, not gawk at the scenery.
 
The point still is that they worked on it which costs money and should be paid something for it

It's a gaming console, not everything is gonna be HD perfect. If you want that go race a real car
 
So then why include it at all? get rid of everything surrounding the track, from now on they'll just be grey strips surrounded by green and yellow, since we're not meant to look at it.

Nonsences as always, there are games that have few cars and few tracks and cost the same money as GT5 where you got thousand of cars and dozens of tracks and still talk some unfinished BS. We all know GT5 could be better but still is the best on the market. If you don't think so, don't buy it next time. The end.

So anyway, consumers are going to hand over probably something close to $10 million for this round of dlc. This is the way gaming is because it's profitable. Love it or leave it.

So you really think that game developers should spend all there time designing tracks and cars for free?

Does the test track provide any additional data? I suppose nobody really knows.

I don't really play but I hang on to the title in the hope of some amazing update.

There is a track with a huge straight on it. Can't remember the name sorry. That would be good enough to check top end speed.

Not too sure what this test track could add to the mix. There's enough tracks available for testing.

The circuit you're referring to is Special Stage Route 7.

The reason why people like ovals for testing is because they are predictable. The corners are of a constant radius, and have uniform banking. Because of this, changes in performance that are a result to altering the car setup are more noticeable - the circuit itself is less of a factor in lap times. While SSR7 does indeed have long straights, it also has sharps bends; if you brake half a second later on one run than you did on another, how much of your lap time is down to the change in braking point and how much of it is down to changes in the car setup?

I can see where your coming from.

All I really need to know is accel, top end and braking distances.

I will tune a car for a specific track if I have an important race there.

What I'm trying to say is that the info gained from the test track can be gained from courses already within the game.
Accel, top end etc.

Is it not possible to use the course editor to make something similar?

Im not sure you can is it random depending on the settings you put in?
