Just did the Nurburgring 600 pp race in my GT-R Concept (Tokyo Motor Show) came 7th which is ok considering i am awful round the ring. lost by 1min though :(

Is it just me or does the weather on SPA differs depending on what tires you start with?

It seemed like the weather did the opposite of what tires I put on, I tried it with softs and had 58% water by lap 2, then I restarted with intermediates and it never got over 35%, then it dried up at the end and I almost burned up my tires before the finish.

Same thing happens to me. And the AI seems to always have the right tires on.

Greetings,
Glad to see others having trouble with the weather.

Additionally,
My screen seems to hang up...like the refresh rate isn't fast enough.

I have just a 60 hz rate on the TV, and haven't tried it on a faster TV yet.

Comments?

Thanks

Just tried Suzuka and Spa, got silver on both. Both had the infamous and TIRED 1st place rabbit non-sense, when I got to 2nd place on Suzuka, AI was 25 seconds ahead.
Almost had gold on SPA, actually caught up to 1st place, was driving the R35 TC, bumps into me and I got a "RAM" penalty.

Not sure why all these races are Rolling Start, the AI cars have PP above the allowed threshold, white rabbit, etc. All cheats basically.

GT 500: Suzuka Circuit / 10 Laps

Bought a Nismo GT-R.

The cars start half a lap in front.

You have no way of even catching the 15th car.

Then there are penalties for shortcuts, so all the fun is taken out.

What a joke, I won't be competing, as they say on Dragon's Den...

I. AM. OUT.

You made my day :d

yesterday finally got some time to gold the first 3 events.

For the 600pp GT500 i used the Weider HSV. Pretty easy but fun. Started raining halfway the race. Put some intermediates on and finished a 40seconds in front of the second

For the 600pp tuned car i picked the easy GT-R black edition tuned up to 600pp. Very easy race. All race long changing weather. Conditions constantly between 30% and 40% wet so Intermediates all the way. Easy win at a good minute on the second

700pp I used the Peugeot 908 HDI FAP. Hard rain all race long but started on intermediates, after a few laps when in second place, pitted for full wet and from then on a clean race and finished again in first with a 40second lead

now for the corvette. tried a few minutes but boy, not my cup of tea :D

Only the corvette time trial presented some kind of challenge. With SRF on you can run racing softs and be faster up to 50% wet. If it's a little wet, you can run the whole race on softs ( by the end they will be down to about 60% duration). If the AI pit, it's even easier, won most races lapping everyone but the first. Restarting the race, the weather played out the same way, so if you mess up the first time, just plan your strategy like above. In Spa for me it started 30% wet and kept raining to 90% in lap 8, then dried up to 80% by the end. Started on racing softs and were just behind the leader by lap 4, then I pitted for Rain tires and was leading by lap 6.

Well I finally won the Nordscheife race with a Lambo' Aventador LP 700-4 '11. Tuned to bang on the 600pp and after several tries managed a win passing for the place on lap 3 along the long straight towards the end of the lap. It rained late in lap 1 and got no wetter than 38%, so I stayed on RS. The rest of the field stayed out on their original tyres too as far as I could tell.

Anyone else hate that rabit in the ring? Made 2nd place shortly into lap 2 but the rabbot was so far ahead it took till the end of lap 3 to catch him, like last chicane end of 3. Used the nsx lm street car concept (love that thing.

I too have a similar problem, it's like a stutter effect or a judder type of thing on mine

Thought I'd toss my thoughts into this as well, didn't really notice SRF being on, too focused on rain levels and tire management :scared:

As for Seasonal Events, this one was more interesting to me than most, good variety of PP levels, tracks, weather changes and all that, and good payout to boot.

First event I did was the TT with the C7 'Vette, threw-away the first lap just to get used to the available traction and the car itself, I usually play at Nurb' with my 568PP C6 'Vette on S3's (imagine this), which is a little different but much faster, so after a few minor changes in line and shift-points, 2nd lap was a breeze, can't remember what time I did exactly but it was ranked like 1011th or some non-sense at that time (thurs night?), idk, I just wanted gold to gold all the events :dopey:

Then Friday, I did the 600PP Tuned Car event, using MFT's Ferrari 430 Scuderia Competizione, which is already fast enough to win on S3's I believe, but unfortunately race tires are required (:ouch:), so I just bought it some black Volk TE37's (which made it look incredible imo) and equipped Intermediate-Rain tires, got out my Android phone, streamed some "Two Steps From Hell" on Pandora (fitting music for dreary 'ring weather), and set-to racking up the miles on the 'prancing horse'. It was honestly one of my most enjoyable races since restarting about a month or so ago, music and dynamic weather most likely helped, plus I'm really starting to enjoy that Ferrari, it behaved so well in the complete-downpour that occured on the second lap, wasn't even concerned about switching tires, was too lost in bliss, found myself getting side-tracked looking at the sights around the track and checking all the little details on the car's interior view, that before I knew it the race was over and I wanted to do it again, but my back was telling me it was time to get up and stretch instead, so I saved and turned it off for the night.

Then Sunday afternoon (still doesn't feel like a Mon here, lol), I decided to give the GT500 race @ Suzuka a run with the Honda WEIDER HSV-010 since I didn't feel like buying another GT500 car at the time, and it ended up being a rather uneventful event, rain level never exceeded 25%, and it didn't really rain until the last 3 laps, stayed quite sunny, but didn't really bother me, so with a little tweaking to a setup with an aggressive diff I found somewhere on here searching (I'm more 'driver', less 'tuner' :indiff:), it was a breeze, nothing too special really, may come back with other GT500 cars n' tunes and see what happens.

And now either today or tomorrow, I'll be doing the 700PP race at Spa, which I haven't really driven much, which could make things a bit more interesting, new car + unfamiliar track + weather possibilities = ???, may end up using a tune from this thread for that particular race, planning to give Shoe's Lambo tune a try for the 600PP race again - wonder how they look on TE37's

I've silvered the race several times before my win and found the top 5 cars were running fairly close together each time I caught number 5. All but one of my second places could have been a win but the second place man was an utter swine to pass, I got punted off by him each if those times, usually not too severely but enough to get a penalty for short cutting or contact. Only once before my win did I get a clean pass on the car running second and then made a mistake which cost me the win, by 1.02 seconds. My bad!

NOTES:
This car is very quick. It is very nice on tires, allowing softs to easily last the whole race. Also, it is very good and easy to drive in the dry as well as the wet. Won the race by 24sec first try, so this should make the race no problem 👍

Thank you ever so much - such an epic tune! Car feels very comfortable in wet & dry conditions! No need to pit either!

Loved these events, hopefully have more like these next year and more b-spec seasonal events

Spa is fun in a stock 908 or 787 full cockpit view no hud no aids no abs 4/2 bb. Easy to pass the slowpokes but driving in a full downpour in cockpit view is pretty cool. In 97% wet the brake zones kind of, uh change. I couldn't tell anything about SRF after the track was fully soaked. Ran inters all the way. Worth doing it that way if you haven't tried.

While fun and interesting due to the wet conditions which I would guess most of us don't race too often, I didn't find the first 3 events to be very challenging at all

The CR7 TT is the only one I would consider worthy of "Expert" classification. It was much harder to get the gold in this TT than in other TT events we have seen

Just my 2 cents

Had a dash at some of these, But no golds for different reasons.

Tried a Vertigo at Spa, but it looked like the rain would decrease... 30% 29% - so went to start on Race Slicks... Car felt nasty - SRF enabled? Dunno but I didn't enjoy driving as the car would understeer, then snap into oversteer, I'd put in a dab of oppo, but the SRF would add another armful of oposite lock resulting in a pendulum-like secondary slide - Annoying. Had a few offs, (Understeer into a corner (Stavelot) and also got a penalty for a wide run at La Source.... annoying (But I like the implimentation.) Lap times were not good enough, lost loads of time - extra pit stops, Was cutting into the lead but I was nowhere after poor early laps, and the wrong tyres.

Repeated but used my LeMans winning PescaroloHybride. This car felt great and I started on Inters... I think, The car felt great... but I must have done something wrong I had no time splits, and the AI seemed to be pitting alot, reeled in the leader, And I was much faster than the Gillet had been.

Won the race, but the game didn't stop the race... so had to reset the game (Pausing didn't give me the option to quit the race...)

Annoying - but looks very do-able in the Pescarolo.

Would be ncie to have this sort of length event but in clunker cars on none Race/Sports tyres.

having a little trouble on SPA. any car....spec recommended?

I am very much a B grade driver & I have done Spar twice , in a 685pp Chaparral 2J on inters & won easily , even lapped two cars . & the TC Nissan GTR on inters also . Although GTR was doing faster laps then the 2J , the track did not get very wet & only won by a few seconds . I had a dozen or so goes at Spar with different tunes & had no luck using R3 tyres .
When track is 30% wet you need to be able to put in low 2.20 laps .
On the subject of anti skid I don't feel it should be locked on or off .

Cheers Ozi

Reading thread and having a laugh about the chat and issues:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I am 1600km from my cockpit on holiday and can not play this special event:irked::irked:

To all in the GTPlanet community and PD thanks for the great year and have a safe holiday to all.:cheers:

Just my 2 cents

I feel there is something up with this TT.

I took the car out on the correct tyres and no aids in the Challenge 4 Nordscheife 650pp race. I managed a clean lap in 7m 48s, which would get me a Gold in the TT.

So I moved to the TT and couldn't keep the car on the road, (The road was dry and the light sufficient that I knew where I was on the lap all of the time.) never mind drive a clean lap. My best dirty lap was 8m 20s and that was with a lot of cutting corners and an horrendous high speed cutting of the last few corners before the very last corner that gained me at least 5 seconds!

"Grip Reduction on Wet Track/Track Edge = Real" for timetrials, if I have read it correctly.

Try a few laps in the "Practise" area of the game with that setting on, and see how it compares.

Nice one Ncrthree. Some of my best races have been like this.:)

Did the GT-500 race in my Loctite Zexel GT-R '00. Was a good race and almost lost it at the end but managed to hold on to the win by 4 secs

Races are proving quite difficult for me. Nearly busted my controller over a few.

Same for me too. :banghead: I don't seem to get anywhere near the lead in any of these races. I have tried multiple cars & tunes. Hopefully PD will leave it up for a while. I have had enough for the time being. No Santa didn't bring be a G27 either :( So here's to all of you who have had success and may the New Year bring the rest of us struggling with this one some new found abilities we are sorely lacking.

Edit, posted in wrong thread by error.

Reposted on Corvette C7 Test Prototype: Nürburgring Nordschleife Time Trial thread, post #260 here.

Please excuse the oversight all.
