next update prediction (probably June 2026)

So here's my admittedly rather tinfoil hat-sounding leading question about this reveal: Why a preview, and not just throw up the actual June update trailer?

It's not like they haven't done it before (the Eiger reveal was straight up the trailer). The preview was absolutely cut like a regular update trailer, it would have been very easy for them to put the car names in the single car shots and "Gran Turismo 7 June 2026 Free Update" at the start.

Are we just not getting a fully-edited trailer this time around? Or is it because there's more to this update that's trailer-worthy and is yet to be revealed?
We do have a State of Play on June 2nd so maybe they'll show more there

What an incredible addition.
I hope the Cadillac V-Series, Valkyrie, Genesis and TR010 comes in the near future.

I don’t know about the Alpine, SCG, and Lamborghini. Those seem more likely to vanish.
  • Cadillac is a 50-50 given there is currently no cars from that brand, but not entirely out of the question.
  • Valkyrie could be likely, just down to PD's willingness or time
  • Genesis GMR-001 feels like a next year possibility with how long these take to model but likely given the relationship.
  • Toyota TR010 is very likely a shoe-in again given the relationship.
  • Alpine feels very unlikely given outside of the A220, we haven't had ANY additions and the financial situation only complicates things. Likely doesn't help that the new boss isn't a Motorsports fan last I heard so I don't imagine the odds are any better.
  • SCG, forget about it. Jim for some reason would rather have his cars in a mobile game then any sim that isn't Le Mans Ultimate.
  • The SC63 I feel isn't quite the new hotness as it was before (hence its inclusion in PMR), but we also don't even know if PD jumped on it either so...50-50

I have people I can ask at team Heart of Racing about the Valkyrie, they’re a very chill operation and bring a large amount of the funding to make the car exist in the first place, so if they want it present, the biggest of the possible issues would probably be more down to PD having the time to get it modeled. However, the owners of the team have close relationships with Turn 10, and previously offered their assets for the Forza Motorsport team. Not sure if that existing relationship would have them hesitant to initiate with PD or if it’s open season with FM being dead for now.

Toyota and Genesis seem likely given the close marketing partnership.

Cadillac is alive and well, and I would imagine would want to keep marketing their motorsports operations. I don’t know what their relationship is with Forza for the V series, but it’s probably more complicated with Microsoft currently stopping production on new FM games.

Lamborghini isn’t dead, but at the moment has pissed off all of their operational partners. It could return to IMSA, but right now any private team looking to join the top class in GTP or Hypercar would be looking at an alternative partnership with a new entry, like Genesis, McLaren, or Ford, before trying to bring the Lambo back. Since it’s not active it may not be on PD’s target list, however we also don’t know how long this update and scans has been planned or in the pipeline.

Alpine is also complicated, because it’s supposed to be shutting down the program at the end of the year, but further there’s been talks of Renault group shutting down Alpine as a whole. The Endurance program itself is looking at a complete sale of all of their assets to another manufacturer, meaning the A424 could actually keep racing under a new badge, but fundamentally be the same car with the same crew and factory. The most up to date rumor is BYD, who could buyout both that operation and the F1 team, but it’s still very early as far as the rumors go. Alpine’s financial situation could be good or bad for PD’s access to their licenses, so it’s hard to say.

SCG is the least likely, having multiple previous public crashouts over licensing, and afaik, has only appeared in a single game (LMU) that licenses all of the cars that raced in the championship.

If you’re looking to just fill up the prototype grid, you’d also have these options:

  • 1x yellow JDC 963 (IMSA 2023-2025)
  • 1x Proton Mustang Sampling 963 (IMSA 2023-2025)
  • 1x Mustang Sampling JDC 963 (IMSA 2026)
  • 1x Toyota throwback livery as a theoretical 3rd entry (2 black cars, 1 red total)

Extra alternative, modify a Valkyrie:
  • 2x green Aston HoR WEC Valkyries
  • 1x Blue HoR IMSA Valkyrie

Not sure exactly how to make the in-game car to behave more similar to the race car, I don’t have it in my garage yet. But, the LMH has no hybrid system, 700hp power limit, 1030KG minimum weight, 8500 RPM redline, and the aero had to be reduced for the hypercar/GTP class for reference if people want to start prepping it for a custom race hypercar grid.

The BMW uses a Dallara tub like the Cadillac, but obviously looks very different. The BMW and Lambo have the most similar engine note across the grid, so that could possibly be an alternative scheme for a BMW. Porsche could possibly be made to look like a Genesis with clever livery trickery.

The Valkyrie is a good shout for a sprint race where tyre wear and fuel consumption isn't touched. I'm hoping as well that they have the original wingless version of the 9X8 as well as an option in the tuning. I'd run that in the original grey livery.

I honestly thought it odd this video posted as soon as they did the Nations cup. But alas Sony & PD know and maybe heard our prayers, Great timing if I may add! But I am very glad to see Hyper car Prototypes in GT7. Now maybe we can do a mixed clas of race cars at Lemans with endurance racing styles. So phsyced to see this update sooner than later!!

I love the BMW hybrid one, so cool!

I forgot to say in my post earlier but this new June update is exactly the type of pack that I would be more than happy to pay money for given how much I love sportscar racing.

What order would you drive the cars in? I'll be:

Peugeot 9X8
Ferrari 499P
BMW M Hybrid
Porsche 968.

This might be an very unpopular opinion but i am not that excited for this. I am more of road car kind of Guy, but i completly understand a lot of people Will be happy with this, i have not played gt7 for while and proaply wont play it for couble of months at least.

Amazing cars, can’t wait to put them to use in three, random single races and once every two months online.

The irony here is that the real LMH is one of the strongest cars on tires on the whole grid.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some of the evo kits or IMSA number plates in GT Auto given how some other recent race car additions have been handeled.

I needed a while to catch my breath and clean up the mess... Holy wow!!! Never would have expected such a focused update in general, let alone one for Le Mans Hypercars! I hoped we'd get another hypercar at some point, but kind of just figured maybe one would randomly pop up in a regular update, thankfully that was not the case and I can now use a Hypercar to underperform in Gr.1 races in the Peugeot 9X8, just as God intended. I'm definitely going to be trying to recreate some of the photos I took at 6 Hours of Fuji in 2024!
