Does anyone want to restart a picks thread?

That'd be cool. When I was a little kid and didn't understand football my dad was in a pool at his work for games. He'd always print off a second sheet for me just for fun. He'd pick who he though, and I'd pick as well (though I don't quite remember how considering I didn't know much about it).

I'll tell you what. I like the Ravens/Steelers and the Patriots/Dolphins matchups. Those are probably going to be the two best games this weekend. If you like your football hard, the Ravens/Steelers game is going to be can't-miss. And wouldn't Dolphins' fans want to see the Dolphins send the Patriots back to the Boston area with a loss? That's just going to be another statement game for the Dolphins in this key AFC East battle. Best thing Dolphins can hope for is the Jets losing in Buffalo, then Miami beating New England. If both of these things happen this weekend, Miami will lead the AFC East.

As for my Texans, we just need to handle ours in Oakland against the Raiders. We can't look ahead to our match at Reliant Stadium hosting the Giants, though. Got to take care of the Raiders before we welcome the Giants next weekend. We can't look ahead to next weekend like (college example) Texas looking ahead to Oklahoma as UCLA beat up on Texas.

-20 yards on the wildcat, yay.

Who the hell calls play action on 3rd and long, and then bombs it on 3rd and 2? Idiot Dan Henning, that's who.

What's the point of the Wildcat in the Dolphins' offensive scheme? You have a great wide receiver in Brandon Marshall and a two-headed running game with Ronnie and Ricky. You won't inspire quarterback confidence in Chad Henne (something he appears to be missing) and you've now taken your top wide receiver and made him a tackle.

Seriously, it might be a nice trick play when nothing else/everything is going right, but stupid in a close game.

The front page of SI.com today...

Looks sooooo wrong.

ACK!!!!:grumpy::crazy: What a hell of a way to lose! Great game by both teams, Colts lose on 59 yd Field Goal despite Manning going down there to score with less than a minute to go. Oh well, Kansas City comes to Indy this weekend. John's Texans lead the AFC South at 3-1, followed by the 3 way tie between Indy, Jacksonville, and Tennessee at 2-2. Wow. Unreal.

Edit... Add more injury than insult... Safety Melvin Bullitt.. OUT for Season. Not good.

lol, I don't even want to talk about today's game. Just another case of the Seahawks driving their own heads into the ground. First time loosing to the Rams since 2004. I don't know how we can beat the Charges but loose that badly to one of the worse teams in the league.

The Texans took down Oakland 31-24. While I'm happy we won, that pass defense in the secondary HAS to improve. They were playing too soft in the secondary, letting Oakland toss the ball downfield and getting big gains. I'm glad we put some pressure on the QB for once. I think the Texans may have to blitz a little more. And man... Bernard Pollard putting a HIT on the OAK QB! I was surprised we got our first picks of the season after today.

If the Texans won by any more than 14 points, I'm sure they were imagining beating Dallas from last week when looking at Oakland. Arian Foster sat out the first quarter on a Coach's decision. I heard something about Arian Foster not having certain responsibilities. And I guess... if you aren't responsible for your own actions, you don't play. It's almost like the "no pass, no play" deal where student athletes only play if they perform well in school.

I want to give a shout out to the Baltimore Ravens on a nice win at Pittsburgh. The "wow!" of the day HAS to be St. Louis blowing out Seattle.

Yeah how bout Seattle.

I can't believe how bad the Bears and Giants suck. They Succckkkkkk!!! Brandon Jacobs is a scrub.

Yay, go Rams...can I get to watch their games now. The excitement of watching the score update in the corner of my TV is unbearable.

Maybe Sam Bradford is the real deal. But I could have sworn that Bulger wasn't the main problem. Maybe their O-Line has been fixed more than I gave them credit for.

Patriots at Dolphins tonight!

Unless the MIA boys just don't show up, I'm going with the Dolphins tonight. A report on ESPN talked about how young the Patriots are with some of their newer talent. It should be a great match. Ravens at Steelers was a great one, and I'm sure this one will be hard-fought as well.

Who you all got- Pats or Dolphins?

I just got home and Henne threw an interception. I think I'm gonna go back to the chem lab to make sure the Fins win.

Cameron Wake is a beast!

Whoops. I meant St. Louis, not Seattle. Really impressed with Bradford so far.

FUUUUUUUUU. OK, I'm done. Team totally self-destructed. Might as well play the backups now.

Pathetic effort by the 'Fins. They could totally have won that game and they threw it away (literally). The running game was working, it was late in the 3rd and they were down by 2 TDs. RUN THE DAMN BALL! No, pass, pass, pass, blocked fg, game over.

Terrible, scared playcalling.

Here's some chatter... Sam Bradford, QB of the 2-2 St. Louis Rams, believes they can win the NFC West. There are people who usually think the NFC West stinks, so that may very well be possible. Do you see the Rams winning the NFC West, or do you think they have as much a chance as winning the NFC West as my Texans do in winning the AFC South?

John Bonemago got fired today. Luls. Our ST unit will now be coached by the assistant with no prior NFL experience. Oh boy! After last night's disaster on the big stage, John just had to go. I just hope this new guy has some swagger.

Normally, I would say they don't have a chance.

But the Cincinnati Reds made the baseball playoffs for the first time in ten years. It is clearly crazy sports year. Before you know it cats and dogs will be living together. All bets are off in sports this year.

All I have to say is that I live in Chicago and I can't stop laughing at the bandwagon fans that have popped up. The bears are a bad team, but since they were 3-0 everyone was predicting SUPER BOWL. Chicago is a bandwagon town.

Fair weather fans or bandwagon fans?

I always thought Da Bears have always had a strong following, even if the fans were ashamed to publicly admit it.

Is there really a difference between the two? They only show up when the teams are doing good.
There is a strong following but the ones making noise are usually the ones who think buying a jersey makes you a real fan.

Bandwagon fans tend to cheer for different teams based on who is doing well. You know, they jump on the bandwagon. Fair weather fans always cheer on one team, but they lose their passion when things are going bad.

For example: A guy at work used to wear a Green Bay jersey years ago. Then he started wearing a Patriots jersey. Two years ago he started wearing a Colts jersey. Now he has his Patriots jersey back out. Bandwagoner.

I cheer for the Cincinnati Reds in baseball. I even support their local AAA team in Louisville, The Bats, and go to those games. I still wear my shirts and hats. But I haven't sat down to watch a Reds baseball game in five years and haven't been to a game in person since I was a kid (that is partially due to a somewhat new stadium with expensive tickets). This year they made the playoffs. I am excited. I've watched two games on TV this season when I realized they were doing well. But I still think they will be out in the first round of the playoffs in three games. If they do well and do it again next season I know my dedication will grow. I am a fair weather fan.

A true fan are the guys I knew in college that skipped classes every year to make a a five hour drive to catch opening day for the Reds.

Apparently the Vikes traded for Randy Moss, not sure how I feel about this.
I wonder how Randy Moss feels that he is apparently worth a third round draft pick.
