^^ So what you're saying is he's Miami's new Jason Taylor?

No. JT was a 4-3 DE. Odrick is a 3-4 DE. Basically, he'll be our Richard Seymour. I loved Odrick so much before the draft last year. I watched him at the senior bowl practices and the dude was just miles better than everyone else. I didn't think we would pick him because we were already set at DE with Starks and Langford. But they got him. We have so much depth at DE lol. 3 pro-bowl or near pro-bowl level players. Starks went to hawaii last year and I wouldn't be surprised if Langford made it this year. They need to trade Merling and develop Odrick though. Our defense is going to be sick up front.

Hardly saw any of the game, but the Texans lost 28-0 at the Vikings in this final Preseason game. Texans have plenty of time to get their minds back on track for as the regular season starts on September 11. I have to see who all will stay and who will will lose their jobs with the Texans.

Man, our defensive front is so sick. I think we have the best depth in the whole league. At least our backups totally dominated the Cowboys backups.

Redskins again played a good preseason game. We beat Tampa Bay, thanks to Kellen Clemons throwing a bomb for a touchdown late in the 4th Quarter. We went UNDEFEATED! Now for a 4-12 regular season... :(

Suck for Luck lol. It's a good year to be terrible and without a QB.

So the 'Fins cut Lou Polite. One of the unsung heroes of the past few seasons, he was an excellent blocker and was automatic on 3rd and 4th and short.

The new offense that Brian Daboll brought doesn't really utilize a FB like Polite, so hopefully he gets picked up soon and is able to finish his career with another team. In his place will be rookie Charles Clay who has unique abilities and will be able to line up as a TE, HB, or slot man. Should be an interesting offense-- worlds of difference compared to that old codger Dan Henning's predictable playbook.

Just saw that Hall of Fame defensive end Lee Roy Selmon passed away today from complications from a stroke he had A few days ago. One of the few bright spots for the Bucs of the 70s and 80s and an A class human being. R.I.P Lee Roy

We let go of players like Ogban... that guy, and Xavier Adibi. If the Charlotte Bobcats finally made the postseason in the NBA a few years ago, the Texans can surely play for the postseason in the NFL. I'm hearing everything from high praise to winning the AFC South. As much as I want to believe any of this, I just don't know. I just don't know what we have, and if what he have is going to be enough to finally emerge.

That's how I am. I'm not going to say that any of my teams/athletes are going to blow everybody else away. All I know is that we have a chance to make the postseason. However, the only deciding factor is what team shows up to play during the regular season. I was concerned last season when Gary Kubiak was talking about how the Texans will have to put up as many points as possible even with the laughable defense last season. Our best record was our only winning season- 9-7. I wonder if this season will be our first double-digit win season. At best, we're maybe 11-5.

Here are the games that concern me most: at Miami, at New Orleans, vs. Pittsburgh, at Baltimore, and vs. Atlanta. They may be our five losses for what I know. Always excited for my Texans. We'll see how the new season goes.

Anyone want to discuss players you're surprised were added or cut from your team(s) or look ahead to the new season?

Dude Lee Roy Selmon was SO nasty! Poor guy. RIP.

For my Rams, we cut Donnie Avery and kept Danario Alexander. Danario's an amazing receiver and the deep ball threat our offense needs, but his knee is uncertain. Deciding to go Danario was a huge risk. I hope it's worth it.

Saints at Packers TONIGHT!

What do you say we kick off a new season of the NFL? The last two Super Bowl champs collide on the Frozen Tundra. Who you got starting the season 1-0 after tonight- the New Orleans Saints or the defending champs, the Green Bay Packers?

Let's begin the 2011 season already!

Well my guy is on the shelve for a while. :grumpy: No. 18 had another successful neck surgery and is parked for 2 to 3 months. I think we can have a decent year with Kerry or if the Colts for Garrard, but its a stretch because O-line and D-line are getting older and not any better. Ay ya yai.... :ouch: :grumpy: --- Randy :dopey:

Yesterday on ESPN's "Around the Horn," one of the first things discussed in regards to if the Texans can finally win the AFC South with all the issues regarding the other AFC South teams. I will say this... this may be Gary Kubiak's final season with the Texans if the Texans disappoint this season.

This is no doubt the Texans' best chance to make the playoffs. Question is... WILL they? That's why we play the game. That's why we play the season. I'm excited regardless for the new season.

Great game to start the season. Mark Ingram got freakin' stonewalled on that last play. Good thing, too, because I think that call against AJ Hawk was bullcrap.

That call on the touchback before the Saints last drive, was also bullcrap in my opinion, his knee was on the ground at the 1 yard line and his feet didn't touch the goal line.

What a fantastic game to open the season though.

I saw mostly the first drive of that Saints at Packers game as well as the final drive by the Saints. And yes- that stone wall job by the Packers sealed any hopes of the Saints trying to make the game closer than it ended up being.

With the other teams getting ready for a new season, I want to wish all of your teams (regardless of who is/are your favorite(s)) a great 2011 season of NFL football.

I have Sunday Ticket for free this week, which is awesome. Matt Stafford looks like a boss out there, I hope its not just the Bucs defense .

As a Saints fan Im pretty happy with the Saints performance vs the Packers, as happy as I could be with a loss. I think its more impressive for the Saints to get 500 yards and 34 points on a top 5 defense than the Packers get 400 yards an 42 points on a average to below average defense. Our offense is great, probably the best in the league, now we just need our defense to step it up.

Holy crap. Buffalo put 41 points on KC. Not looking good for Haley.

No Arian Foster... no problem. We handled the Colts 34-7. All of our scoring damage was done in the first half. I wish the second half was better for the Texans, but we still were ahead and played hard enough to have a cushion and maintain it. They REALLY need to limit their turnovers. Sure, there was no Peyton Manning, but we still played (and someone mentioned it) that we played like #18 was on the field for the Colts.

Our next two games are on the road- at Miami next weekend in an afternoon game, then at the Saints the following weekend.

There's nothing I hate more than officials deciding the outcomes of games. I though on both sides of the ball the 'Hawks-Niners game was very poorly officiated. Let me just name off the major ones...

For starters both a 49'er receiver and a Seahawk DB were fighting for the ball in the endzone, if anything the 49'er being more physical against the other and resulting in pass interference instead of a field goal attempt.

Speaking of field goals, David Akers deserves an Oscar for his major flop; nobody even touched him.

A 49'er back was called for helmet to helmet when he hit our guy in the shoulder, but when our receiver got plastered and needed assistance off the field for a headshot there was no flags to be seen.

And when we had an amazing punt return that would have put us on the 49'er 20 yard line we were called for a block in the back that could not have been more obvious as a should blow. He hit him square in the pads coming sideways, but no, apparently that's now your back. So instead of starting at their 20, we start at our 15.

I will give Ted Ginn credit for his kick return, it looked pretty legit but I'm sure ( as there is on every play, every game, for every team) some unnoticed rule breaking, but his punt return... no way. The first Seahawk down-field was throw to the ground from behind and then laid on top of which gave Ginn the open hole he needed, again no foul called.

Even some of the the things; towards the very end one of our guys caught a ball on a diving grab, though there were defenders around he was never touched, but as soon as he got to his feet the whistle blew. I mean c'mon, they already went from a 2-point deficit to a 16 because you the officials, but they just have to keep going.

Overall a very poor game for NFL officials in this game.

That was a very touching ceremony before the game. How they get those spotlights to stand so perfectly square, straight, and high into the night always escapes me, but is a beautiful sight.

The Panthers lost, but Cam Newton was amazing, 24 of 37 for 422 yards with 2 TD's and 1 rushing TD.

My Giants.... Horrible!!

I was disappointed too, the Giants are my 2nd favorite.

Annnd my first favorite. Newton played like a star, but Arizona pulled it out. My question is, what are the odds that two rookies have exactly 422 yards in their first game? I read he tied the rookie record.
