All that offense and no TD passes to Chad OC?

He'd only catch maybe half of them anyway and then get all pouty and go completely to crap. I've been watching his every game for years now, and that's kind of his thing. All hype with a few good catches, then excuse after excuse. He's fast, and he can play, but his general jackassery makes him a liability to any team. I'll be watching to see how he adapts to his new home. I bet they don't put up with him for long.

38-24 was the margin as the New England Patriots feasted on a Miami Dolphins dinner, and it was 23-20 in favor of the Oakland Raiders on the road at the Denver Broncos.

What do you all take away from this first week of NFL action?

Patriots and Raiders will win tonight.

Tom Brady > Chad Henne, Jason Campbell > Kyle Orton.

Was I right? I think so.

Grossman's performance in the Redskins win against New York was a suprise to me, 300 passing yards shows that he has asserted his status as starting QB in Washington.

The g-men's secondary is garbage though. Still, good job Skins.

The Patriots will go to the playoffs and get exposed again. Any game that Chad Henne passes for 420 yards with 50 yards rushing is a game the Dolphins should win. Congrats to Belichick for finding and exploiting a weakness.

Yeah the Redskins did what they had to do, take advantage of the G-men's secondary. Yeah and Henne played amazing for you guys.

People in my classes are saying the Redskins will make the playoffs, but that is a little far-fetched. At least we have the right guy at QB for now. As much as I like Beck, he is no Rex Grossman.

You have no idea how hilarious that statement is.

Says the Dolphins fan. I'm just kidding. Grossman is backup caliber for the other 31 teams, shows how much we overpaid Haynesworth. We can barely afford Grossman, and Beck.

I totally missed that post.

Ok, what is so funny about it? TELL ME.

Grossman has been inconsitent in the past, but as Mike Shanahan said "We only care about what he's done with the Redskins, not about his past. He has been consistent."

300 yards, I'll take that any day of the week.

it was 4th and goal on the one inch line with just seconds left in the NFC championship game. The Boars needed a touchdown to win so the coach called for a pitch to the running back for the game winner. Rax yelled, "You know who I am? Im mother****ing Rax Grissman. You give me the ****ing ball, :censored:t. This is my game." Then in retaliation Rax broke both of the running back's knees, and knocked the backup unconscious. Coach had no choice and called far a fade route to the corner of the end zone, which Rax overthrew by a good 20 feet. The Boars had lost the game that day, but inside, Rax knew he was a winner.

...it's just a matter of time.

Grossman has been inconsitent in the past, but as Mike Shanahan said "We only care about what he's done with the Redskins, not about his past. He has been consistent."

Let's think about the word "consistent" shall we?
con·sist·ent   /kənˈsɪstənt/ adjective
1. agreeing or accordant; compatible; not self-contradictory
2. constantly adhering to the same principles, course, form, etc
3. holding firmly together; cohering.

Okay, now let's look at Rexy in his best year (went to the Superbowl):
Rgrossmanstats2006.png

Now let's play the "what have you done for me lately?" game since that's what Shanahan wants. How can one be considered "consistent" after only one game? Looking back to last season, he started in 3 games (appeared in another) and had a 55.6% Comp, 7-4 TD/INT, and a passer rating in the of 81.2.

If you want to use the word "consistent" on Grossman - it better be in reference to him being consistently bad.

You might want to take the homer goggles off, kiddo.

@Villain: Coach Shanahan was referring to Grossman's preseason play, how effective he was in practice, and in game one you :dunce:. That Bears season, his season with the Texans etc. All HISTORY. I only care about what he's doing now. Thank you. Call me ignorant, call me whatever you like, the only important stats are those of this year. Rex displayed himself as a field general Sunday, and was accurate on almost all his passes. He proved as a leader by owning up for his mistakes, not blaming the o-line for the 4 sacks, as he held on the ball too long. He praised the Skins defense, which made sure the Giants didn't score after Grossman's fumble. At least the Skins aren't as bad as the Cincinnati Bengals. So why don't we talk about Andy Dalton, and show pics of him getting destroyed by Suh of the Detroit Lions. BTW, Tim Hightower is a guy to watch this season for the Redskins.

I just found out that the referee assigned to the Seahawk/Steelers game is the same one from Super Bowl 40. If I had any hope before the game started, it's all gone now.

I agree with you on that, Hightower is looking like he's going to have a huge year.

As for Rex, I'll reserve my judgement until he plays against some better secondarys.

Oh you Seattle fans...

It was six years ago, get over it.

NFL Defenses were the ones hurt most by the lockout. Defense is reactionary and without months of OTAs and other offseason skillbuilding, it's no surprise to see one of the biggest passing weeks in the NFL history. Wait until NFL defenses get their act together and watch and see how Grossman does. Again - you want to call someone consistent with a sample size of one game a four meaningless preseason games? Who cares how good a guy looks when he's throwing against 2nd and 3rd stringers?

Shanahan was just trying to instill some confidence in him publicly - coaches have to do that, especially when you have a QB who's been shown to be one that will implode. He had the Bears defense (which was probably the best in the league that season - what were you in Kindergarten that year?) to win all the games and Devin Hester's record return touchdown season to win those games for him.

The Eagles will win that Division in a landslide.

Smooth. I'm fifteen. I was in grade six :dunce:, its simple math. I'm not saying Rex is going to have an epic season, I'm not saying that the Redskins will make the playoffs. I have never said these things. I believe Rex will have a respectable season and the Redskins will improve on last year's record. The Eagles will win the division, I know that. I'm not stupid, that Eagles team is dominant, my Redskins aren't even half the team they are. Our defense will be better this year, the addition of Kerrigan was a big move. But we're not winning games on our defense alone. Again, I don't expect much, I may have previously but that was before the preseason. 7 wins at best for Washington. Done. Rex Grossman is a starter, he is a roller coaster when it comes to "consistency", but I believe he has the tools (Anthony Armstrong, Santana Moss and Chris Cooley are going to have a good year), and a running game to compliment (Tim Hightower looks good.)

I'm not even close to being a Seahawks fan, but they clearly lost that game due to repeated bad and unfair calls throughout the entire game. Pitt got calls in their favor that a blind person could see were wrong. I bet even the slimey steelers feel that 'victory' was hollow.

this is the least biased statement ever.

But one I applaud hehe.

OK, back in the world of today.... I don't know how how many weeks it will take before Jackson gets benched in favor of Charlie.

Some interesting food for though to the unaware, the Seahawks have three QB's on roster. After this year all three contracts will expire. I hope if there is someone who can't get the job done they make way for someone else to prove they can make it happen.

Maybe they will trade some tickets or merchandise for Carson Palmer. He might do ok somewhere else, but he was poison here in Cincy.
