Cam Newton wasn't that special. All of his big plays were busted coverages. He'll probably wind up like a Josh Freeman type though. Speaking of Josh, that guy plays lights-out. I don't know why he doesn't get more props.

Point 1: Cam Newton wasn't that special. All his big plays were busted coverages.

Point 2: He'll probably wind up like a Josh Freeman type though.

Point 3: Speaking of Josh, that guy plays lights-out.

I can't tell which point I should consider valid, is Newton not special or lights-out? Just messing with ya, Omnis ;).

what are the odds that two rookies have exactly 422 yards in their first game? I read he tied the rookie record.

From Espn.com/NFL

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Newton shattered the NFL record for the most pass yards in a player’s NFL debut. The previous record was 346 by Otto Graham for the Cleveland Browns in 1950.

Incredible.

Okay, I didn't think anyone had gotten that many. Someone must have made a typo on the ticker earlier when I read that (I believe it was CBS).

I'm saying that he can still develop into a darn good QB like Freeman.

I liked how my Redskins played today. Finally beating the (injury-ridden) Giants. Tim Hightower had a nice TD run. And Armstrong played well today, catching a TD pass from Rex "under-rated" Grossman. And our defense did its job. Hail to the Redskins! *watches everyone laugh at me*.

How is Rex underrated?
He took us to the Super Bowl, he's obviously good.
He's not consistant. He's one of those QBs that will give you 300 yards, 3 TDs one week and the next have 100 yards, 1 TD, 4 INTs, 5 sacks and a fumble loss for a TD.

Rex Grossman is terrible. They only went to the Superbowl because their defense was stupidly good and the special teams was also otherworldly. That was the rookie year of Dennis Hester and he broke the record for most special-teams TDs in a season. That Bears offense played with almost zero pressure on it.
Rex Grossman sucks man. Don't try to justify him. He rides the bench for a reason. I'd rather go with Pat Devlin than Rex. Rex is a washed up bench rider now. Plus, he's a gator.

Really? Oh look what we have here:

Grossman's performance, at least for a week, justifies coach Mike Shanahan's choice in a quarterback competition against John Beck that lasted the entire preseason. After an 0-for-4 start, Grossman began spreading the ball around against a short-handed Giants defense..."He's more precise with his decision-making, quicker with his decision-making," said Anthony Armstrong, who caught a touchdown pass and set up another score with a diving grab at the 1-yard line. "And it's showing on the field right now."
Many people say that his one good season with the Bears was because of the Bears defence, which I admit was a really good defence. A lot of people say he sucks, some Texans fans, and some other fans. Therefore I think he has to be considered underrated. He is often written off as not a starting Quarterback, backup at best is said. Meanwhile, he does a bang-up job with an offence, proving that he is a starting Quarterback, some people can't contemplate that.

I gotcha, with that arm and those wheels I think mostly anyone could :). I hope he does well.

Patriots at Dolphins and Raiders at Broncos... both TONIGHT!

Two teams will start 1-0; two others will begin 0-1. Which two be 1-0 after tonight's matches? Hope all four teams that play tonight put on a great show as we get back to [NFL] football.

Patriots and Raiders will win tonight.

Tom Brady > Chad Henne, Jason Campbell > Kyle Orton.

Don't worry, the Saints will get their turn.
Like how we handled ya'll birds?

Yeah thanks for destroying the Falcons, but the Saints are much tougher and have a better offense, defense, and special teams now that we got Darren Sproles. Plus, Bears are coming on our turf, one of the worst places for opposing teams to play. With that kind of noise Cutler and his o-line will be the same as last year, horrible.

It is so not that simple.

I do think it's that simple tonight. I just don't see Henne getting much offense against the Pats while Brady... well he's Tom Brady.

I'll never bet on a team to win if Orton is at quarterback, I just don't like their chances tonight. Then again it is the Raiders he's playing.

My team is the Seahawks due to geography (2 hour drive from here). But my god do they look awful this year. Just terrible yesterday.

Here's my theory: Scarp T.Jackson. I know we have a young O-line and were without one veteran yesterday but he has shown absolutely nothing to suggest he can pull off a playoff season. Our defense didn't do too bad though, its just that our special teams couldn't back it up. And don't get me started again on officials. All I have to say is I watched other game highlights and saw some pretty bad calls, or lack thereof, around the league.

Yes I guess the defense was okay. I just can't stand Jackson, I completely agree there.

Mistakes for me go back 2, 3, or 4 years ago when they should have drafted a quarterback. I was never a big Hasselback fan but he'd been around long enough as a starter I thought he'd be a decent mentor for a young guy. Now if they draft a quarterback who is there to ease him in? Nobody. I don't want Jackson or Whitehurst mentoring a future quarterback so for that poor guy it's going to be sink or swim and into the deep end he goes.

That is all.

Hey all, Any other Bengal fans out there? I'm thinking that they just might surprise a lot of people this year, and Now that Carson and Ochoasso are gone, the team feels to me like it actually has a soul again. I'm liking Dalton very much and despite him being a complete rookie, he looks very promising and most importantly for this team, has a good attitude about it and seems to work hard at his job. It's been a long time since I have had any hope at all for Cincy football. 👍👍

Jason Campbell is not better than Kyle Orton. Also, Daboll's new offense is such a breath of fresh air. Even if the Fins are losing right now, theyve been a blast to watch. Tom Brady is a beast and their oline is doing surprisingly well considering how thin theyre spread.

Omg, Eric berry is out with a torn ACL! Damn, I hope he recovers well because he was the best talent at safety since Sean Taylor.

According to Google, the single game all time passing record is 554 yards. Brady has clocked up 511, and it seems that the Dolphins are about to score. I'm not sure what I want, I hate Tom Brady with a burning passion (you have to respect him, though), but I do like watching records being set.

Henne had almost 500 yards too. Between the two of them it was the most passing yards in a single game in NFL history. Henne would've had more yards if Welker didn't bust that 99-yarder.

When I saw them line up on that play I was like, "OH NO, DEAR GOD! DON'T BLITZ!" Saw that **** coming from a mile away.

Being a Dolphins fan is the worst.
