I first played it in gt4. I knew of the track at that point but had never played it. Hundreds of laps later it's still my favorite. The gt5 version is amazing. I actually enjoy the slower (300-400hp) cars more than my really fast cars.

The 24h layout is an amazing sight!

True, but they definitely need to fix this particular lay-out. Missing textures as soon as it gets dark made me go 'WTF' and had to slow down immediately.

But still this is the most epic track of the entire game, IMHO.

I love this track. I love the detail that PD put into this track. I love the fact that almost every legendary road car has been on the track. I love the fact that it's about $29 for one lap around the ring. I love the fact that it is home to the infamous 24hrs of Nurburgring. I love the fact that this is my unofficial touge. I love the fact that the track is narrow. I love the fact that the Karussell is narrow. I love the fact that GT5 features all versions of the Nurgurgring. I love the fact that you can change the weather and the time of the track. I love the fact that any car can drive on the track. I love it. It's awesome.

Ahh.. Just finished 2 hours of nightracing on the ring with as many as 14 players. PD has done an incredible job capturing the feel of the track as well as the realism when racing at night. I was nearing the end of the long straight and when I look back, all I can see is the two headlights from a civic, maybe 1-2 km's away from me. Words cannot justify what the experience can bring you in the game.👍

It's fantastic. My father was able to point out where on the track he used to watch the races during his time in the military... that level of detail just blew me away.

Wow. I feel even worse now lol. Over 8 minutes in gtr, need some good tips for this track...really badly.

Luminis gave you the best advice, use the AMG challenges to learn the track. When I first used to drive this track on the PC I didn't have many problems with the first half of it but the second...like a rollercoaster from the first Karoussel to the long straight. I had no idea what was coming next and so drove in a "reactive" manner. That doesn't work on this track, imho. I see the corners as not individuals but more as part of a "corner complex", more than one joined together. Sure, you might take the first corner of five perfectly and at max attack but you'll more than likely be out of position for the entry to the next. And so on and so on. This ends in tears. Much better to learn the constituent parts on the track and gradually "sew" them together until it's just one long piece of fluid driving. You might still not end up being the fastest out there but what a buzz you'll get from clipping the kerbs to just the right degree so as to guide your car along The Green Hell.

I love this track 👍 👍 👍

When driving the ring I think it alone is worth the price of the game, indeed the whole game could be named for this track. The words have already been said like epic, awesome etc. Kudos .

The AMG challenge definitely helped me get a better grasp of the latter parts of the track.

But man like I've said before...PD can get rid of all the features in this game but leave the Nurburgring and the cars, and i'd still be a HAPPY HAPPY man

The track in game is stunning and is the best recreation. I had the luck of going out with my bro and a group of guys from the northloop site. would recommend that anyone with the slightest interest to go once in their life's truely unforgettable.

Cheers 👍 Will deffinitely give this track another good few runnings. Would love to get around 7'35 in the gtr for now :dopey:

8'13 is the best I can get with the nissan gtr, need serious help with this circuit. Please? :D Any other track and i'm decent but here...oh my lord. So slow and bad...

Don't have the driving line on for a start. The only driving aid you'll need is ABS set to 1, the GT-R is very stable and has immense traction so any other driving aids will just slow you down and/or have a negative effect on the cars natural power and handling.

Go to Time Trial.

Drive around the track, but don't push the car; just drive well below your limit and get used to the track. When you complete a lap your ghost will appear. Your job now is to beat your ghost but, again, don't push it too far (there will be no need when the first time around you were driving well within yourself).
Then as you complete that lap, your ghost will be a little faster (but not monstrously so).

Each time you complete a lap, try to beat your ghost which will have been getting progressively faster. By the time you have done 10 to 15+ laps you will be starting to get very comfortable with the car and the track.

This is the only way you will get better on Nurburgring. Practice, practice, practice!

Good luck 👍

So has anyone noticed a larger crowd on the 24hr race, since it was said that the crowd size would differ?

and then there's the placement of the starting point.....didn't do their homework I guess
Actually, they did. FM3 starts at the Tourist Entrance - see the buildings in the background? That's where you buy your tickets, have a burger, hop in to the Ring Taxi with Sabine and talk petrol to other gearheads.
GT starts at Grandstand T13. This entry nowadays is normally used by the car industry during their testing days.

The first few times I raced "The Ring" on GT4 I was intimidated by its length. Especially on those lap trials for the Super & A-I licence tests. But completing those two events were some of my most satisfying GT moments.

A real life visit to The Nürburgring is definitely on my bucket list!

This. Especially that bolded part :sly:.

Thankyou rikki gtr. Have no aids on or racing line. I will prectice guys. Just used controller with slr and got a next lap invalidated...lol as if the tracks not long enough. And anoter invalidated lap *sigh* must keep practicing.

:D

When I say drive below your limit I really do mean "Go for a Sunday drive" around Nurburgring. Just take in the scenery and enjoy the drive, this way you won't be going fast enough to come off in your first few laps.

 So hard when you have 626 bhp at your right foot/hand. Lol, will take these tips and acknowledge that I will not get it straight away.

While I genereally agree with that, it all depends on your experrience with the 'Ring. For most tracks, turning off the driving line and just running the track will work the best. But considering the length and the complex nature of the track, starting a little easier would be my personal recommendation.

That's where the idea to do the AMG event comes from.

First of, you'll have to memorise the track, the general layout. While the driving line is a very safe (and, thus, slow line) around the 'Ring, that's pretty much what you're looking for.
Once can easily manage a decently fast, clean run through all of the sectors with the driving line on, running a full lap with the driving line should be the next priority.
Once that can be done cleanly, it's time to turn the driving time off.

This will help to learn the general track layout and, in my opinion, should be the very first thing to do if you want to learn the 'Ring.
From there on out, finding faster lines and braking spots is the way to go.
While the driving line may not be very fast, it's a decent tool to learn a track.

Last but not least, the car can make a lot of difference. The Nissan GT-R is, generally, very stable and quite powerful. But it's also very heavy and tennds to understerr a lot.
Personally, I'd recommend a lighter and less powerful FR or 4x4 car to learn the track. Something like the Evo IV or VI should work pretty well. The easier the car, the more you can focus on learning the track itself. This will also help to get a general understanding of the track, instead of just learning how to get one specific car around the 'Ring faster.

In general, it all depends on the experience one has with The Green Hell. In my opinion, it's better to start of easier than necessary than to make it harder than it has to be. The 'Ring is challenging enough, keeping the learning curve as smooth as possible will generally help to avoid frustration 👍

So, excuse my rant, I just wanted to give a little more in-depth advise of what i consider to be the easiest way to learn the 'Ring :dopey:

 So hard when you have 626 bhp at your right foot/hand. Lol, will take these tips and acknowledge that I will not get it straight away.
My point exactly :D
Start of with something a little slower and more managable. It'll make staying within your limits a lot easier :D

Wow. Thankyou :D Will try all tips over the next few days and believe me this advice is helpful, really would like to get this 'ring licked (erm no pun intended)

I love the Nordschleife. Everytime I see a race on that track it always gives me fresh feelings like the race is gonna be very good. GT would be not as good now without this track. And also GT5 is the best game in the series and with future updates this game is going to lead in the world of racing games. What GT5 delivers with its physics is a technical marvel and joy to experience with a steering wheel, no matter how long you play it still feels very satisfying at some point. In my opinion GT5 has the most exciting, deepest learning curve(almost like real life) out of any driving videogame and that what makes it the best. :)

Running the Nordschleife in a ZR-1 is great, driving line can make all the difference and it helps improve driving technique overall once you get the rythem

I'm still adjusting to the course re-vamp and physics, but I'm still having a ton of fun
