I'll be using the Xanavi GT-R

Other ideas for championship tracks: Sarthe 2005 (has no extra runoff so corner cutting cant be done).

Monza (no chicane since these cars are so much slower than F1).
Fuji Speedway (classic Super GT track).
Grand Valley Speedway
Suzuka (classic again)
Nurburgring 24 hour. (overtaking can easily be done on GP-Strecke).
Road Course – Indy
High Speed Ring

Daytona Superspeedway (a bump drafting style race as the last race of the championship).

I will use the Castrol Tom's Supra. It sounds soooo good when picking up throttle. Whooooossssssshhhhh. Pppssshhhh. Hahahaha awesome car. Why I did not use it in WSGTC is beyond me.

Haha yeah that car sounds great...the '97 right? What's the HP fully broken in? I've got a fresh one and it's 501 I think. Massive torque, too, should pull nicely out of corners even with the 50kg extra weight. Just felt a bit understeery but that may be curable with setup tweaks.

516 IIRC broken in.

I did some tuning and it the under steer sorted.

Fwiw I was able to match my GTR times using the ARTA NSX on Tokyo.

Well I'm not sure what's going on with this car. When I picked the Motul, it was because I though all Xanavis were banned. Turns out only the Zs were banned. Then when I was ready to pick it officially, someone else picked the 2nd of 2 allowable, but never showed up, so I requested it in post #191, now it seems everyone wants one, cause Just_me wound up with it from an later request for change. I don't blame you, it's my 2nd favorite Super-GT, the Z being my fav.

So, here we are, do we go with whoever called dibs?

The Motul GT-R appears to be available as well. Great handling car and looks really good too.

If you want to do a tuning session, feel free to add me. I will be on a lot this week, kids on spring break. Taking Thursday and Friday off work. Possibly tomorrow if I get all my CNC work today.

The Castrol is quick. Atlas was not liking the push it has. I feel like I got most of it dialed out. But I work ok with a push. Beings i trail brake into many turns which loads my front. This may hurt me in certain tracks though.

PSN same as name here.

I'll add you OwensRacing when I get home hopefully I can get some tips from you tunning :)

I am still learning, but share what I have figured out so far. Fortunately two of the top WSGTC guys have been really kind in helping me.

I have talked to two of these top level guys and mentioned tuning sessions. I personally would pay these top level guys to spend and hour with me tuning and watching my lines to improve.

FWIW: With just a set up from one of them I dropped .8 off my Indy Road time. As well the car is so much more predictable. This to me is worth something either real world cash or even in game gifting. Speaking of which I need to send some stuff over as a token of appreciation.

Anyone here feel that paying money for tuning sessions is rediculous? I had a discussion with a not so serious league racer and he was against it. I think if he was like me and constantly 1 second off pace, he would consider paying to try and get on pace.

Just food for thought. Maybe get a group of 5 top level racers and tuners to work together on this. Again the money side would be good motivation for these guys to share their knowledge.

When are we going to know what track we will run this week? It would be nice if we had a clue what track to practice for and tune for? It's not so bad if you already know the track, but I've seen some pretty off the wall tracks suggested for this series. It's Tuesday already and we don't know where we will be racing, some people have a limited time to practice and tune.

On the subject of tuning...... learn to do it yourself, no one can tune your car for you, the best they can do is give you a very generic setup, the tune has to be tailored for your driving style and for each individual track. I've seen too many people spend a lot of time trying to learn to drive with some "pro tuners" setup, they are just adjusting their driving style to the tune. Your best bet is reading up on how different settings affect understeer, oversteer, etc., etc., and find what works best for you....... taking the easy way out will never make you better.

AGREED!

I learned a long time ago IRL that my driving style requires funky suspension settings. I used this a a guide to create a spreadsheet that gives me a good approximation of how to setup a car using formulas initially developed by OppositeLock. Whenever I buy a new car, I enter the stock settings and it spits out settings for my style, From there it's only a matter of fine tuning for 3 or 4 types of tracks. Speedy/Twisty/Elevationy...

Just popping to see how everything is going.

I always thought at GTP racing school would be cool...maybe you guys in WSGT and some of the other top vets would be interested in starting one? Just an idea lol.

As for tuning, I know only the very basics, and rarely do anything more extreme than camber and MAYBE a little LSD adjustment. Just haven't spent too much time with that.

First track, I will count how many votes I have for tracks as of now. I will pick one of the ones with lots of votes make post it up so everyone can practice.

And now, back to work lol

I'm with Owens. I don't know if I'd pay someone cash for a tuning session but I don't think it's ridiculous at all. If you're really determined to learn to drive faster in the shortest amount of time possible then that's clearly the way to go. The top guys in WSGTC already figured out what the best setups and driving styles are, that's why they're consistently fastest.

On Saturday I finished ahead of you in Tokyo. But having watched you completely crush my best Tokyo times yesterday, I think if we ran the race today the results would be very different. Clearly your performance has dramatically improved and unless I seriously up my game I will probably never be able to beat you again on pace alone.

Those who think they are unique and constantly try to adapt the car to their "unique"(=wrong) driving styles are in denial and will get a reality check every time they get lapped.

Alright so this is how the vote looks so far (only going to post top few)

Suzuka
Road Coarse Indy
Fuji
Monza
Nurb GP/Tokyo/Grand Valley (Tied)

Nurb 24HR is the current long track of choice.

So, since we just did Suzuka in a preseason race, white don't we start with another classic Super GT track

Fuji F (I will say, this is one of the tracks I have the least amount of experience on, should be interesting)

Thanks guys, and please vote if you haven't already 👍

Save Fuji for when I get back. Did I mention I'm out of town this weekend? Can we also make sure we get the next weeks' track up by Sunday night or Monday at the latest so we can practice a bit to dial in the cars for the track.

Thanks...

xA...... it's your series, just tell us what tracks we will be running. :)

If we keep waiting on everyone to vote and come to a consensus, we won't know what track we are running until it's time to start the race.

Looking forward to Fuji F this Sat, March 26! @Majik, we all have real-life commitments and will miss a race or two, such is life.

@Majik, sorry but gotta agree with the ultra and boshunter, its gonna stick.

@boshunter, the tracks I posted all have a larger amounts of votes than all the rest, meaning that is essential our schedule. Since voting seems to have died down, I will post the schedule tonight...or right now lol

Schedule:

March 26 Fuji F
April 2 Monza
April 9 Nurb 24
April 16 Indy Road Course
April 23 Tokyo
April 20 Suzuka

Start in Japan, moving west, and eventually ending up back in Japan :D

Thanks everyone

Might I suggest we make the Nurburgring and Suzuka races a little longer than the rest make them a little endurancey? Is that even a word haha.

@MtBe Yeah, that seems like a good idea I think. I can add around 30 minutes to 1 hour to each of those. Also note, Suzuka is April 30, not April 20, that was typo.

Car list has been updated 👍

How many laps for Fuji this weekend? I wish we could get this stuff a little earlier in the week. :)

I should have brought my PS3, this hotel TV has composite inputs. Oh well... I'm gonna miss the race on Saturday, and already I miss my cockpit. Haven't been away from it for so long in months... ;p

Y'all have a great first race!
