Extensive testing has been done and unfortunately it takes a Stage2 turbo to get similar lap times out of the Lexus.

o ok....i just thought it was because of the low tq....

i was looking yesterday at all the NSXs and my car is the same hp but the tq is about 150 lbs lower then all the ones being used...but i guess thats the differnce between the super GT cars and the older ones

not that i can use anymore power...its hard enough not letting my tires break with no TCS and my dualshock....at least i got used to using the right stick for my throttle :)

Hi all.

Thanks to ultrap for the results. They preliminary and pending replay review.

I am hopefully gonna review the replay tonight, followed by official results.

I think thats all for now, thanks everone

BTW the Supra seems to be the car to have. Its performance is close to that of the Nismo Z. But I'm OK with it...if I ever manage to beat Owens it will be that much more satisfying :)!

Fwiw I took the Nismo Z I used early in preseason of WSGTC. on Fuju F with a similar untested tune I went 1:35.4 first lap and 1:34.9 second. There plenty of room to run bottom 34's if not a 33. I was slower on first section and made it up on the back to run this second lap. That's was two laps with and it was looser the. I like.

The supra is not faster then the GTR IMO.
Not close to the Z. I seen almost 180mph on straight. Barely clip 175 if ran deep with supra.

EDIT: took my Xanavi GTR with Indy Road settings on Hards to Fuji and this car with softs. Results: 1:37.1 first lap and 1:35.664 second lap.

I did a 15 lap race yesterday before ours to test tire wear. I was able to pull one 1:35.3, 1:35.4, 1:35.7 and the rest were 1:36.0 or slower.

I gonna have to say we got matched cars I prefer the GTR though. It's just got grunt the poopra doesn't have ;)

Should also mention that I have been prepping for a 100 lap race at fuji GT. So only difference was chicane. Which I knew from races before. Using a 700 HP Mach1 on mediums. So the GT 500 was a dream and like a stroll in the country. Hehehe

Then I must really suck with the Z :D. My best times at Fuji F:
Nismo Z 1:34.8
Supra 1:35.1 (not broken in @ 501 HP)
GT-R 1:35.5 (fully broken in @ 518 HP)

It's not the top speed that makes the Supra faster, it's the punch out of corners with that massive torque.

BTW did you see the fastest lap of the race? MtB did a 1:34.7 in the GT-R  on lap 22 I think, gonna have check the replay if he had slipstream help, cause if not it means I suck with the GT-R, too.

I had a 1:36.04 as my fastest. That was towards the end which just goes to show how the heat of a race motivates you to keep putting down times. In a free practice I give up after 5 laps.... It mostly was about trying to focus on yourself and not worry about what the others were doing I think. Because you can only drive your car.

MtB has a really fast car, he stayed out too long. I pulled 8 seconds out of him on fresh tires after pitting. He would have had me and the win easily with a stop on lap 16.

Yea I stayed out about a lap too long I realized it after I got passed half way down the highway to bloody South America :grumpy:. The pit lane is too long I say!!! TOO LONG

Yeah it will be a real battle to try and keep you beside or behind me, because once that car gets a gap its gone. :sly:

I could care less, and really think it makes no difference...... but that '97 Castrol Tom's Supra and the '01 Mobile 1 NSX are not even SuperGT 500 cars. Once you start playing around with adding turbo's for some cars, limiting other cars, etc., etc., it becomes a moot point anyway. :)

Meet you guys at Monza!!! I plan to test and tune here tonight. If anyone interested in joining in. Plan is around 8pm EST to have car unloaded and on track. ;)

Is it going to be in your lounge, or will you have a room open?

Never made it to the track as planned. Had something come up. 👎

I know how that goes :) I usually try to run at least a little every night around 9pm CST, if anyone is going to host an open room, or wants to run in my lounge, just post it here. Or send a FR to psn boshuter and look to see if I'm in my lounge.

Will it be the Monza with or without the chicane? Also will there be a steward parked down at the 2nd chicane to make sure nobody cuts it in qualifying (which is do-able since the replays arent saved from other sessions?)

If people do cut during race, I would slap them with 40secs each offense.

The guy that tries to keep it on track and gets the wheels off two inches only once. Is different story. As well Most likely this racer let off trying to stay on track and did not gain from it. The obvious cutting is pretty easy to see here. IMO.

That's true during the race...... but someone needs to be watching that corner during qualifying like Rich S pointed out.

Results are up, please PM me if you have any questions.

Edit: Holy crap that was my 400th post :D

As for the issue with cutting the chicane on Monza. To discourage it, I will be:

1. Standing as a steward during qualifying
2. Enforcing a 40sec penalty per incidence

I don't expect it to be a problem, but it is their to make sure we all stay fair

I will review the course and let you know how far you can push the chicane.

We will be running with both chicanes on Monza.

If it does become an issue we might have to split cars on track an have other half racers watch. Then Switch.

Normally any surface painted green is not considered part of the track. (We are required to keep 2 wheels /R or L/ on the track at all times)

I think it will be a problem. Tried running a few laps and it is super easy to clip either chicane even when you don't mean to. Add worn tires to the mix and I can't imagine anybody not cutting at least once over race distance. At 40 sec a pop I smell some monster penalties in the air. I'll try to tip toe thru there but what happens when there's traffic? With 2 cars trying to go in there side by side one is almost guaranteed to cut. Better just to back off, go thru the chicane single file and wait for the slipstream.

We do need to figure out some system for quali...Perhaps GT-R's quali for 6 mins while the others are parked in the chicanes, then we swap roles?

or make it simple, let the strong penalties rule, and cut as much as you dare...

That won't work, I tried that the other night in a room with strong penalties on to see how far you could push it and never did get a penalty for cutting the chicane.

Two tires on track, red and white rumble strip is part of track. Green concrete is not.

Really simple. I raced here several times and never cut the chicanes. . . nor do I know how to at that. Cheaters stink and if someone does so maliciously, I would boot them from the league.

So I was experimenting last night with 'Joe Public' and even when trying to be careful not to cut the chicane, it's difficult to really get it perfect consistently when there are a bunch of cars on the track in tandem. (Well for me anyway). One spot where I keep cutting it close is the last chicane, turn 7 (Variante Ascari). Hopefully we can come to a compromise with the penalties. Getting dinged 40 seconds for being a few inches off the rumble strip will hurt.

I suppose there will be lots of time spent reviewing this race.

Hi all, just stopping by quickly. I would like to apologize to smokedogg/tr1mble for DQing him incorrectly. After taking a closer look at and driving his car, I found it to be legal.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Results will be adjusted to take this into consideration.

The chicanes are going to be controversial unless a rule is layed down about driving on the AstroTurf (green sections.) Normally there are no penalties for it in GT5, however its up to the host whether or not to allow it.

I would allow driving on the green sections all the way to the chicane barrier. Why? Because people will accidentally cross over when tires start to wear, and just by accident from time to time. The # of incidents of driving on astro turf will be very high if its banned.

Goes back to what I suggested earlier:

or make it simple, let the strong penalties rule, and cut as much as you dare...

So the chicane cutting would be allowed, but blatant beachcombing would garner an in-game penalty.

I dunno, but it beats spending a few hours reviewing replays... :indiff:

Come to think of it, anyone have the offical Monza rules? I think cutting the chicanes is at the drivers risk, since IRL, those speed bumps are hell on the suspension.
