Official GTPlanet Member of the Fortnight [Member of the Week]

What's that, T, two new inductees in one week, say it isn't so? It is so don't you doubt me or my words of promise and prosperity.

To make up for things going more than a little quiet over the past three weeks or so we're getting back on track with a double feature this week. It was supposed to have been one last week and another this week, but I like the way it's played out in reality as opposed to planning because that means - hey-o - double feature.

With that said, this week's inductee is perhaps just as excited about GT Sport as we all are but there's some caution in that anticipation, and on top of that he's rather modest. Welcome Ridox2JZGTE to the Member of the Fortnight madhouse!

1.You're officially among the ranks and are now the Member of the Week, so what were your thoughts going into this and how does it feel to be recognized among the hundreds of thousands of other members here?

When I received the message, I thought, what I did wrong, something bad going to happen  Then it turns out that I have been selected as member of the week. I don't know really know exactly what I feel, I haven't done much for the GTP community here other than making hybrids back in GT5 days, sharing them and in GT6, replica garage. Still, I would say honored would be the word to describe how I feel.

2. How long have you been a member here at GTPlanet and what is it that keeps you returning on a daily basis?

I joined GTP back in 2012, and have been active almost daily since then, with occasional vacation due to real life taking over.
I found GTP to be a great community, with many great members to chat with, have discussions, share experiences and knowledge as well having fun. The visual looks of the forum also gives GTP a lot of reason to come back, it's much easier on the eye than most other forum, clean yet full of features. The ease of use also makes it one of the forum that I liked most.

3. If you could recommend any one thread on the entirety of our forum, what would it be?
This is very hard question, I have some threads that I always visit and to pick one is a daunting effort. I would say, the Funny Pic thread

4. What's one thing you'd like to see changed about the Member of the Week presentation? Don't be shy...
The interview is great for getting to know the member elected, but I would also recommend to highlight something related to the member, be it the member's hobby, life story, ride, work, or thread that he/she created.

5. How did you come up with the name "Ridox2JZGTE"?
The clue is in the name, Ridox is a tuning shop founded by Max Orido, a drifter, D1GP judge, pro racing driver and journalist. The 2JZGTE is an engine code for Toyota Supra, a car which have been one of my all time favorite. Originally, I considered the RB26DETT as user name along with a tuning company name from the likes of Esprit, Mines, HKS, Top Secret, etc, but I found Ridox2JZGTE sounds cooler.

6. When you hear the word "community" what comes to mind??
Car clubs :D I used to hang out with Nissan, Toyota and JDM imports enthusiasts back in Australia.

7. When it comes right down to it, do you prefer Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport, or are you obligated to neither?

I have been stuck with PlayStation from the beginning ( PSX ) so naturally, GT was my one of my 1st console driving game. I never owned Xbox, although quite a few of my friends have and I often play Xbox when I visit them. Forza is good, some parts are better than GT, like customizations, sounds, and there are cars there that I want in GT. For me, as long as it's fun to drive, any racing game is okay, it depends on the expectations. Some racing games like PC sims, I would expect much more than console only games.

8. What's the one thing, that one feature from GTPlanet's past incarnations that you miss the most and would love to see brought back?
The life time premium membership :) This is one thing that surprised me when GTP was updated last time, the premium account now is only for 1 year :(

9. You've just been banned. What don't you do?
Depends on the cause of the ban, if it was righteous ban, I would lurk as guest :P and if it was unfair or false ban, I would contact the admin for review.

10. What would your reaction be if I told you GTPlanet was moving away from solely focusing on Gran Turismo?
No, just no :grumpy:, GTP stands for Gran Turismo Planet, if GTP moves away from GT, change the name first

11. If you had to prepare a speech for this most special occasion what would you say?
I would be "speechless" Seriously, I would say thank you to everyone who have supported my garage and existence on GTP. Especially @danbojte who kindly have given me a premium badge :D and others who have been loyal to GT series 👍

12. Where do you see GTPlanet going in the next two years?
I would like to see more from the tuning database feature, maybe easier to input template and more robust editing to tunes, similar to Projectcarssetup database site ?
I would also wish GTP gets bigger, more members and the return of lifetime membership :D

13. As you're undoubtedly aware, the GT Sport beta is due on the PlayStation 4 next spring. What are your thoughts on what this could mean for the GT franchise as we count down the days?

It could be anything :) Right now, we don't know much about GT Sport, what direction it will take or what sort of realism it will have. If it only improves a little from GT6, it could mean bad for the franchise. The first GT title on the PS4 would need to be really good to get the momentum going as another GT should be expected. The first PS4 GT game sales number would also likely decide what Sony/PD would do in the future, and if GT Sport follows what Assetto Corsa and Pcars did, I would bet many vocal members here would be at least relieved.

What I would expect if GT Sport follows PC sims, Yokohama and KW cooperation will actually be used in the game, with realistic tire model and suspension. Now, if Kaz have been playing Assetto Corsa and Pcars at home, I'm sure he had some pointers and goals to set for GT Sport :D

Congrats @Ridox2JZGTE! Great Interview! 👍
Congratulations @Ridox2JZGTE Great interview.👍
Congratulations to @Ridox2JZGTE 👍
GT Planet's most thorough & hardest working replica tuner
Congratulations @Ridox2JZGTE, it's so great to see you receive this honour :D

Thanks for blocking the page for law reasons... now I had to use VPN's...

Just kiddn'
....congratulations @Ridox2JZGTE !!!

@Ridox2JZGTE, I couldn't think of a member more deserving of the recognition. Contrary to what you said in your responses to the Member of the Week questionnaire, you have provided enormously to this website. Frankly, everyone who runs a Garage is having a tremendous impact of GTP. Of course, some are busier than others. You're an extremely helpful member, especially when it comes to tuning cars. I've never known you to turn anyone away, unless they were rude or something. We need more members like you here on GTP! Congratulations!!! :D :D :D

I told you not to doubt my words of promise and prosperity.

While you're eating that delicious crow, this week's inductee has a most interesting story for how their user name of choice came to be. Welcome Otaliema to the Member of the Fortnight madhouse!

1.You're officially among the ranks and are now the Member of the Week, so what were your thoughts going into this and how does it feel to be recognized among the hundreds of thousands of other members here?
Wait, what? I got nominated for member of the week? What did I do???
Honestly it feels a little strange, a good strange.

2. How long have you been a member here at GTPlanet and what is it that keeps you returning on a daily basis?
I got GT5 XL in jun 2013 and I found I didn't like the stock tune on the cars and my blind fumbling was well, lacking, I found Hami's garage via a google search in July and never left. I keep coming back for the people here. It's nice to be able to talk to others about a game and get interested replies back. I chase two kids all day so it's a bit of adult conversation in a day other wise filled with a billion questions about everything else

3. If you could recommend any one thread on the entirety of our forum, what would it be?
Exeter GT Tuning garage. Shaumn80 is the owner and the crew of guys in that all hang out there make it a great place to shoot the breeze about cars, the game and racing.

4. What's one thing you'd like to see changed about the Member of the Week presentation? Don't be shy...
Put it in the news feed 👍

5. How did you come up with the name "Otaliema"?
I was trying to come up with a name for a druid in Everquest and at a friends house, and he was watching Beateljuice, the Dinner Dance scene came on and I got the idea to combine words from the Song Banana Boat (Day-O), Day-O, Hey Mr Tally Man Tally my banana's. Turned in to O-tal-lie-ma. Because that's what it sounded to me at that the time. It's pronounced Ohh Tally Ma if anyone is wondering.

6. When you hear the word "community" what comes to mind??
Online? a group of people that gather in one location with similar interests to share their idea's with others and receive feedback on them. Good, bad and constructive.

7. When it comes right down to it, do you prefer Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport, or are you obligated to neither?
Gran Turismo, I started with GT1 on the PSX, I tried Forza and just didn't like it.

8. What's the one thing, that one feature from GTPlanet's past incarnations that you miss the most and would love to see brought back?
I'm not entirely sure :odd:, for me the most annoying change is not being able to attach the same image in multiple posts, haven't tried in a while so dunno it still just links in other posts still.

9. You've just been banned. What don't you do?
Send a spiteful PM to the mods, and create a second account to grip at the mods. I probably deserved it.

10. What would your reaction be if I told you GTPlanet was moving away from solely focusing on Gran Turismo?
O_O keep them Forza guys outta my GT pages. No seriously, I wouldn't mind at all if Jordan wanted to officially expand past just Gran Turismo, I think it would help increase the membership and give a place for those members that are cross game to stay with in same great community to talk about the game.

11. If you had to prepare a speech for this most special occasion what would you say?
Thank you everyone. I'm not sure what to say. except thank you, I wouldn't keep my garage up and participating the community if everyone wasn't so helpful and wanting to help bring each person to best they can be in the game.

12. Where do you see GTPlanet going in the next two years?
Hopefully starting a GT7 forum, and Continuing to be the great place it is now.

13. As you're undoubtedly aware, the GT Sport beta is due on the PlayStation 4 next spring. What are your thoughts on what this could mean for the GT franchise as we count down the days?
It's a Beta not much to say other than I hope they listen to the feedback from the testers to get the bugs out prior to launch of the full game. If this goes well I hope they do it for all the future games and open wide scale beta is the best way to find and remove bugs and improve the general feel and game play. At least in my opinion.

We've been away for quite a while, but the Member of the Week has returned and has once again adorned its original scheduling. Having said that the title will remain as it is because let's be honest... it's fun.

The first induction of the new year brings with it a new coveted member who will forever bathe in the sunlight provided only by the "MotW" namesake. To bask in a glory unlike any other, a legend that will forever be told until there is no one left to tell such grand stories of these select individuals that stand tall above the rest.

With that said, this week's inductee is perhaps the first to use their fame to maximize profits. Quite the enterprising chap, wouldn't you say? Well you'll be able to judge for yourselves as soon as you welcome eran0004 to the Member of the Week madhouse!

1.You're officially among the ranks and are now the Member of the Week, so what were your thoughts going into this and how does it feel to be recognized among the hundreds of thousands of other members here?

My thoughts:

1. Great! I'll make a fortune out of the merchandise: t-shirts ("Fifteen minutes of fame, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"), posters, coffee mugs, fridge magnets, you name it!

2. Does this mean that I get access to the nuclear launch codes?

3. And of course, it's a great honour ;)

2. How long have you been a member here at GTPlanet and what is it that keeps you returning on a daily basis?

I've been a member for almost six years, I joined back in April 2010 during the GT5 hype. Why do I return? Can't fight the gravity, it would require the mighty force of the banhammer to take me out of orbit.

3. If you could recommend any one thread on the entirety of our forum, what would it be?

It will have to be the 3D modelling thread, over in the Computers & Technology forum. There's a lot of impressive stuff posted there!

4. What's one thing you'd like to see changed about the Member of the Week presentation? Don't be shy...

More glitter?

5. How did you come up with the name "eran0004"?

Well, I've always been bad at coming up with good usernames, so I just took the one I got for my university e-mail account. And the way the university came up with it was that they took the first two letters from my given name and the first two from my surname, and then added +1 to the digits at the end to make my username unique from all the other eran's. That obviously means that somewhere out there there is an eran0001, an eran0002 and an eran0003... (don't worry though, they're probably not Terminators).

6. When you hear the word "community" what comes to mind??

Diversity. It's quite interesting when you look at a community like GTPlanet. There's great diversity in age, in interests, in background, in opinions, in talents, etc. etc. Every new member brings something new and unique to the community.

7. When it comes right down to it, do you prefer Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport, or are you obligated to neither?

I like them both, but Gran Turismo will always be my preference. Not because Forza does something wrong, but I guess it's a case of "do you like it because it's good, or do you think it's good because you like it?". It's hard for Forza to compete against that.

8. What's one feature from GTPlanet's past incarnations that you miss the most and would love to see brought back?

Well, there are a couple of banned members that I would like to see again... but Valar Morghulis I guess.

9. You've just been banned. What don't you do?

Look back in anger?

10. How do you feel that GTPlanet has expanded its coverage beyond Gran Turismo?

The more the merrier. It's nice to see what's going on in the driving game genre.

11. If you had to prepare a speech for this most special occasion what would you say?

I'm not sure, but it would end with a couple of slightly modified Springsteen lines:

I said, this train, dreams will not be thwarted
This train, faith will be rewarded
This train, hear the steel wheels singing
This train, bells of hype are ringing!

12. Where do you see GTPlanet going in the next two years?

I guess it depends on where Gran Turismo is going. The track path editor and way GTPlanet links to the tracks on gran-turismo.com is a good example of how GTPlanet expands when Gran Turismo is expanding. It's hard to speculate on what new features GT Sport might bring to the table, but I'm sure GTPlanet will keep contributing where possible.

13. As you're undoubtedly aware, the GT Sport beta is due on the PlayStation 4 this spring. What are your thoughts on what this could mean for the GT franchise as we count down the days?

Hard to say. In any case it will be a chance to show what they can do on the PS4, it will be interesting to follow the news when more information becomes available.

14. What positive effects, if any, do you think VR headsets will have on the racing genre?

The immersion will take a big leap forward. You can have great graphics on a screen, but it will always be like you're watching the world through a camera. With VR it's like you're actually in the world.

I guess their success will depend on how easy they are to live with. If you can only play fifteen minutes before you get a headache they might not be that popular.

15. Tell us something interesting about your hometown.

It was one of the starting points of the 1932 Monte Carlo Rally. Which according to some sources also was the year when the rally ended with a stage to see who could drive the slowest...

Blast From the Past. Why did you choose that avatar, and why is it not a monkey? (Don't ask me, I had nothing to do with this!)

Because Lancia Delta HF Integrale! I believe the elephant badge was picked by Gianni Lancia. Maybe if Hannibal had crossed the Alps with monkeys instead of elephants it could have ended differently?
