You never know how far they will push the release date back so they do have all the time on their hands. They better be doing something good.

New Idea: Internal Damge

What do you guys think about some damage done to the suspension, brakes, steering, etc..?

I think it would add a sense of realism (not that GT4 needs it) to the game. Having some form of damage that holds you back from riding the walls of Rome or running into the final chicane of Seattle. I think it be cool... 👍

"Sounds Off!"

IIRC (And I probably don't), wasn't there some optional internal damage in GT2 that affected the wheels?

One thing I want over anything in GT is a turbo that acts like it should. Currently t's either on or off. There's no spooling, nothing - It'd be great to have it realistic so you had to watch out not to come on boost half way round a corner.

New Idea: Internal Damge

I'm glad someone came up with that!.....If PD can't make the car look like its hit a wall.....at least make it feel asthough it has!.....Internal damage is easy to do....all it does it chages the programed car physics so the car becomes more and more uncontrolable as more damage occurs........take for example the tire damage in GT3...it effected the grip and changed the way the car handled.....so why can't other influences affect the cars performance.

The car could start to pull to one side if a wheel is damaged.....it could misfire, miss gears.....go slow then fast.....maybe have some disturbing sounds under the bonnet ;)

Top idea 👍

If this could also lead to a repair shop where you decide where you need to invest your cash.. fix the suspension one day..race..win..get cash..repair more..etc...

You could even buy parts that are more resistant to damage to ensure a more stable car during racing 👍

You could also (if you had damage in a race) come into the pits and choose what needs to be fixed first, or how long the pit crew should spend on your car.....in toca race driver (I really quote this game toooo much!) you could adjust a slider whist traveling along the pit lane to choose how much to fix.....this would give a huge amount of realism and add to a more strategic race!

I would love to be able to jump into the pits and asking my pit crew to loosen my front downforce a bit 👍

Changing the type of tires in mid-race should be a must in GT4. It would make race stragies more interesting..

The pit stop shouldn't be automatic in GT4, it should have variables that affect your time in the pits.

Hey.......I just had quite a cool idea for a UK based track!!! A motorway run!   You drive from one junction to another and back again in a high speed one lap dash to show who's got the skills on the straits! 👍

You would get to see the countryside shoot pass as you reach well over 200 mph.....but there wont be any traffic on it or speed cameras......!

Just have a look at my (very simple) picture of the idea with some info...... :)

You need more UK tracks.......what could be more British than a good old motorway......hey it could even be a wet track!

Its just a bit off fun......just something to do whist downloading the nurb vid...

Tell me what ya think of the motorway track..... 👍 👎 or.....  :scared:

That would be a cool track but would get repetitive after a while like the super speedway and Test course.

I wonder how many drag tracks GT4 will have since the only thing that can really change is the distance of the track and the scenery.

Didn't they say at the German Presentation at the ring that the GT Arcade mode will be featured on 8 tracks?

hmmm......I could see how a motorway could get really boring.......not you adverage interesting track!

On the note of drag racing......I think that they will have other drag tracks part from Las Vegas because PD would really ever have one track for a whole different mode of play.......whatever it is they need some UK tracks!!! ARG!

A new system for gear shifting which includes neutral gear and clutch. It could work like this:

L2 Shift Down
R2 Shift Up

No more reverse button, you have to engage the first gear, then shift down two times, skipping neutral. The complete sequence could be:

R-N-1-2-3-4-5-6....

Because of the fully analog controller, we can use the shifting button as "clutch levers" too. Totally pressed: clutch disengaged. Totaly depressed: clutch engaged. There will obviously be transitions between these extremities to simulate a real clutch. The clutch/gear shifting buttons will work during gear changes, and you will have to press the buttons gently and/or use some throttle to keep the car from losing control, exatly like in real cars. Pressing L2+R2 will engage the neutral gear, regardless of the current gear.

An Example:

To Start/Shift gear UP
-Start line, neutral gear engaged.
-Fully press the shift gear up button to engage the first gear and the clutch
-Apply some throttle while at the same time slowly depressing the gear button (you're disengaging the clutch)
-Don't do it too harshly or the engine will stop and you'll have to start it again (see below)

To shift gear DOWN/Stop
-Completly press the gear shift down button. You'll engage the clutch aswell
-Apply the amount of throttle necessary to match engine Rpms with those of the shorter gear. If you did this 100% correct you could depress quickly the button to engage the gear the fastest way. If you didn't perfectly match the rpms, you will have to slowly depress the button to let the revs "dissipate" through the clutch.
-To stop and avoid engine stopping the engine, engage the neutral gear or shift to it, if you're in first gear. You may brake to complete stop.

This procedure is intended for beginners (the slow shifting, ecc), when racing you'll have to act much faster but not so fast that the wheels will spin uncontrollably (ruining tires, clutch, making the car lose control, etc), expecially with high powered cars.

Since now we have a free button (triangle), we can use it for more functions. If you're using two sticks for steering/throttle/braking, you can easily press it using the right index finger. A combo of triangle + other buttons could be used to activate left/right turning signal, even if not really necessary in GT (ex: triangle+r1>right turning signal, triangle+l1, left turn.sig.), the horn (triangle+up digital button), an engine starter button, and so on. If these button combinations may look awkard to pull off, just thing that while racing in real life you have, most of the time, to keep both hands on your steering wheel and/or the gear level, and you don't have much time to do many other things.

What do you think of this? Wouldn't it be a great controller setup for Gran Turismo? PD look at this! :)

^.....yeah I agree......it would be better than the current 'semi automatic', triptronic setup GT has at the mo.....

👍

I always thought of this as the ideal Dualshock 2 setup for a Gran Turismo with a clutch implementation (didn't Yamauchi say that GT2000(->GT3) would have had a clutch? Even though in GT3 we didn't see anything like that), as it is not too much complicated, doesn't add an extra clutch button, and works in a natural way.

Sorry for my previous post, it contains lots of errors I didn't see! But I hope it's understandable enough :)

I'm as negative as Darin to this thread. And if they do read this thread and the put these ideas into work, then the realease date will be pushed forward onvce again. So, whatever you do, you lose

I think the people who are posting don't really care at all if PD reads this thread, they just want to voice their ideas. I don't see how there can be anything wrong with that.

I totally agree.....theres no harm in it.....

Thats I pretty damn good idea....I only wish they could release a clutch with the DFP

or...

they could release a seperate clutch only for the driving force pro......
this is how I think the clutch could be linked..
you first connect the wheel to the usb port of the PS2...now instead of connecting the pedals directly to the wheel...it should be connected to the clutch first, then connect the clutch to the wheel....
when the pedals are connected to the wheel, that should enable the feature in GT and you could also adjust the clutching in the GT options...
