Ok. Why does GT5 have a save button? It's redundant?

Just wondering whats the point. Unlike prologue, I can't find any options to turn of auto save.
I haven't clicked the save button at all and all my save data is there as expected and up to date.

I don't think there is a way to turn it off.. Unless I am blind as well?

In GT5p the auto-save option was in the utility tab. In GT5 there's none.

thus my question why have a save button on the gtlife home screen?

For the paranoid ones amongst us? (raises hand slowly)

Lol..yeah for the paranoid ones. After playing for 3 hours straight and saw the save button, I decided to click on it just incase, those 3 hours aren't saved.

You made a thread about that? Ignore the save button?

i used it last night after my first play of gt5 before i shutdown

It's there for the exact same reason the window wiper on/off button is there when the wipers switch on automatically when it's raining or snowing and you can't switch them off, absolutely no good reason. However, I think I can live with it.

well i've always like to save my games myself that way would give me option to save my game just before a purchase , in case the car suck i would just go back

wish i could turn off the auto save.

hahah I also am paranoid and manually save before I'm done playing.

its sort of a placebo effect, gives us the illusion of control

I know it auto-saves after races, but does it auto-save after everything? After changing options, after buying car parts, after practice sessions?

on several occasions i close the game and start it up, the game didnt save when i bought some new parts. Now i click save just to be sure.

GT4 has a save function too. While it auto-saves whenever you finish a race and exit, or buy a car, other times it won't. Changing options, buying parts etc. I've used manual save several times, and may well do the same thing in GT5.

I'm paranoid...lol.
But if your ps3 dies then you have a reason to be paranoid.

From my experience, I have found that autosave only seems to go after races. So if you do something outside of a race before turning off the console, you should manually save.

It autosaves after a race but not when doing things in other places, yesterday i got a stock Camaro and fully modified it, then thinking it autosaved i turned it off.

Today i found that all my upgrades didn't save, so if you make changes in the game without racing the save button is there

It's not redundant. The game only autosave after a few things (race, car delivery,...). I bought Aero parts and wheel for my car and the game didn't save it.
PRESS IT every time you done playing.

When you receive your 5 random museum cards it doesn't auto save. Entering and exiting the museum doesn't trigger an auto save. Therefore the button is there for things like that. Also the above scenario means if you don't want the 5 cards you received, all you need to do is exit the game without saving, start it up again and you get 5 new cards :)

It can be used when buying parts. I think they decided not to autosave after that since, if you find out the money you just blew still didn't make your car competitive or turned it into an unwieldy beast, you can quit the game without saving and try again. Of course, if you click the icon to exit the race it'll save.

Exactly, I also learned this the hard way so it IS there for a reason. :)

This individual apparently pays attention to the game, it only auto saves after certain points and when you switch from certain screens in the game. In arcade mode it doesn't save at all, so when you leave arcade mode with changed settings and shut off your system those settings revert to what they were before. That is why there is a save button there.

How do I turn auto-save off???

Every(full) GT game ever made has had a manual save option, why is it a big deal if that option is an easy to access button?

For a game with gifting why would they allow the same GTPSP exploit.

It's so people like me can be 110% sure we actually saved before turning it off! :D

Yep, just like the "door close" button in an elevator. It does nothing, but it definitely makes you feel better to push it.

I always save before logging out, just feel safer that way.
