I'm the guy in the black jacket.

In Iceland 8 hours from the next house (both ways) on an offroad trail in the middle of a thunderstorm we came across a swiss couple with their Dodge ram which had lost the alternator / water pump belt. We found the belt unharmed down the trail but we discovered that it jumped because it was overheating and flexing due to a stuck belt wheel.
We couldn't do anything, but the garage they rented the car from sent help 24 hours later or so.
