Do you want car insurance in gran turismo 5

What sort of crazy insurance agency would insure a car used for racing? :p Get a few dings during a race, there's a few grand to straighten the panels and repaint them. Blow an engine, another few grand. Eek. After a few races, half the cars in the field would have been damaged and repaired so much you could almost buy a brand new car with the money. :p

I dont mind the idea of damages being taken out of winnings, but even then, I dont really like the idea of it being taken out of my "bank". I play games to relax from the real world, whilst I want damage in the races to have a penalty for driving badly, I dont want the penalty to transfer over to my garage.

Nor would I want the ability to write off cars, simply because I'd write them off constantly. The number of times in racing games I've missed a corner and slammed straight into something solid, going from 200kmh to 0kmh in the space of a metre would destroy the car and probably kill me, I want the luxury of going "oh crap" and hitting the restart button. :p
 
Maybe they could also include phoning your insurance broker and waiting for half an hour to get through to a call centre in India. Then raceday could turn up and the insurance company still haven't transferred the funds for you to buy the parts necessary to take part in your race. You then phone the insurer to ask why you funds haven't cleared and they tell you that your policy doesn't include cover against "n00bz" "drifting" whilst yelling "bonzai" from the car window.

I'd rather have "The Real Driving Simulator", not the "Real Financial Simulator". You want pointless banks and insurance and the other boring things in life, thats what "the sims" is for.

Insurance doesn't cover race track driving, Someone already said that. Why is this thread open still? lol. Its not going to happen.

Imagine to paying insurance for the all cars that you have in the garage!

I prefer spend my money on other things!
 
Yeah include insurance companies, so I can work for them and determine that your car has been wrecked on a track, And I can refuse to pay to fix it for you. I will pocket your money and buy myself a couple BMW's.
 
No, the only cost I want other something dealing with a car is an entrance fee for a race series.

How about this...Your online user name has a "grade" on how you drive that is consantly updated after everyrace you drive. "A" being a clean driver. "F" being a wrecking ball on wheels. And so fourth. Then allow race hosts to set grade requirments for their races. I think that would get rid of the punters and force them to drive properly. But that's just what I think.

That is exactly what I was thinking of the other day. That way, A's get paired with A's, F's with F's.
 
Do you think there should be car insurance in gran turismo 5? Think about it, you pay something like 300 a month when you have regular cars. You crash the car and then you get some money to repair the car. But there can be something like a no claims bonus if you don't crash and a warranty when you get the car. But when you are racing with a team in le mans or formula gt you get your wages docked instead. What do you think
 
Having to pay for the repairs should be enough.
 
Voted no because i seriously doubt the game needs it. In pretty much the same way all the other silly threads are popping up now :)

What exactly would this contribute to the game? It wouldn't be any more realistic, because I've never heard of a car insurance company that wouldn't laugh you out of the building if they knew your claim was made in a race.
 
Just to let you know children will probably play this game too and 9 - 10 year olds dont really understand car insurance etc plus it would take the glamour out of the game
 
it's not a real life simulator, it's a driving simulator.. there are more important things than this..

No, deduct damage costs at the end of a race.
 
its not even realistic, i've yet to find a policy that covers you on a track.

i think an Team owner or GM mode would be nice, using b-spec where you have to finance all the expenses.

if gt5 is anything like prologue in online payouts 'ill have more monopoly money then i know how to burn endlessly wasting it on every color of car.
 
No, there's a point where adding realism into a game will only serve to annoy the player (weapon jams in Far Cry 2). All insurance will do is suck more money out of the players wallet in an already grind prone game
