One second, I always thought (from what live4speed regularly maintains) that KY said he wouldn't delay the game just to include Ferrari or Porsche.

We still have no real clue on the Porsche license do we?

Eagle, KY actually indicated he WOULD delay the release if it meant Porsche and Ferrari could be included... but only if it was a reasonable amount of time, which some may argue is 2-3 years for PD :sly:
 
And I don't see why he would think he said he wouldn't from what I regularly say since I say the same as what fish_bate said. However that wasn't announced before a delay, because November is the first actual date given by PD or Sony as a release date.

Does a release date need to be official to be a release date? Does it need to be announced to be a release date? KY said he would delay it, can you delay without having a release date? It seems to me the answer to all the above is yes.

Reason being that everyone was EXPECTING it late last year... including Logitech. Surely PD would give Logitech as much info as it wanted on GT4. Logitech releasing the GT4 steering wheel a year before GT4 is released is bad marketing, something must of happened, a sudden delay. This may have been them being behind (which i doubt since Logitech would get plenty notice about this) or something significant (like licensing issues as an example).

This is all speculation though.
 
I suspect that the GT4 wheel had been ready for about 2 years now...

However as GT4 was being delayed they decided to bring out Prologue... and with that they gave Logitech the go-ahead to release the wheel so that people could learn the wheel with Prologue instead of having to wait for the full game which would be out in a years time...

I remember hearing that KY was unhappy with GT3 cos he had been rushed to get it out and he couldn't get as much in it as he wanted... That is why this one is delayed... and technically it's not been delayed as we've never had a firm release date from anyone (In fact we still haven't got one!!)

I reckon the delay has been caused by them working out a few new techniques that have allowed them to get Nur in and more... this would then mean that they had to go get the data for the track and then model it too... this would've pushed things back a long way... and it will have also opened a few more doors so the doors that were opened by the new techniques have caused the delay... however... will have caused the game to be even better (Well that's my opinion anyway!)

I don't understand all the excitement concerning the Enzo and the CGT.
They aren't real road cars and I find them plain ugly compared to 911s or F456s.
They aren't even the fastest road cars ever made since the 962 Porsche outpaces them by quite a margin.

I don't think we were having a discussion on the fastest road legal car anyway but thought you all might like to see just how fast this was! To compare a CGT or Enzo to a 962 Porsche is a little unfair though. I mean look at the specs:

Dauer 962 Le Mans Spec

730 bhp at 7500 rpm
700 Nm of torque at 500 rpm (537kw)

0-100 kph: 2.6 secs
0-200 kph: 7.0 secs
Top Speed: 404 kph = 250mph (With specially developed Michelin Tyres)

What a machine.

IMO, the CGT and Enzo aren't "plain ugly" compared to 911s or F456s. The Ferrari 456 is a stunning looking car though.
 
I think the Enzo is minging... however I quite like the look of the Carrera GT... Defs nicer than the Merc SLR too.

Theres no doubt that the Dauer 962 is a very beautiful and fast car - but as a road car, even as a 'supercar' its very compromised for its occupents. The cabin is tight for one let alone two - i've sat in the cockpit of a Porsche 962- even in its striped-out racer form its a tight squeeze. Getting in and out is hard, rear visability is zero and the ride will be boner jaring. The Enzo/CarreraGT/SLR at least make some effort to be civilized.

I would be careful calling it the Porsche 962 considering that Porsche never made a road legal version of the 962 ALONE.
Daur made the "Daur 962 LeMans". I am also thinking that it is much the same case as the Ruf's in that it is a Daur not a Porsche. Personaly i think it IS a Porsche, i mean it uses a rear-mounted (well close enough) twin-turbo, flat-6, and Daur had ALOT of help from Porsche and based the entire thing on the 962 group C racer.

Undoubtably the quickest (round the track, and quite possibly in a straight line considering the wicked acceleration AND top speed) road legal car there is. The only exceptions i can forsee are purpose built racers, i doubt the Radical SR3 Turbo could beat it, but i don't think it's THAT far off (and for not TOO much over AUS$100,000 for it, it is a darn bargain).
 
The Dauer 962 is little more than a re-trimmed, de-commitioned ex 962(or 956) racer. It started life as a full-on Porsche 962, unlike the Rufs that were only ever a Porsche shell.
 
On the topic of the Ruf's (which i among others thought was little more than a tuned Porsche) do they build their engines in house? Are they rebuilt Porsche engines or are they constructed from the ground up?
 
They are the same size and configuration to Porsche engines, however they are Ruf engines, it's like if Ford builds a 2000cc inline 4 16v, and the Vauxhall builds one identical, the Vauxhall engine is a Vauxhall engine not a Fords and thats how it is in an Ruf, I don't think they are built completely from scratch by Ruf, but they are enough Ruf to be Ruf.
 
Ruf still base their engines around a Porsche block - so their engines are still 'modified' Porsche engines. Its like TVR when they still used the old Rover V8 - it was still classed as a 'Rover' V8 even though only the block was original.
 
Okay, but that still doesn't turn an Ruf into just a tuned Porsche.

Brabus are the same with Mercs - they make the AMG versions look tame

porsche perhaps won the 24 hours of LE MANS but GT-One was much better indeed!!! just because of the revolutionary "FRONT DIFFUSOR"

RELEVANCE IS that this sugga sugga GT-One was the best "HIGH PERFORMANCE RACINGCAR" of its time that´s why porsche and all the others left LM :sly:
 
Thats not why Porsche left, Porsche left because it won, they didn't need to carry on spending money to win again to improve image. The reason they all dissapeared is because the rules changed and the GT-1 class dissapeared and there was several changes made to the LMP and LMPGT classes.
 
Im sensing incredible similarities between GT-One Lover and McLaren's Angel! Maybe you guys should hook up ;)! You might get in arguments about which one is better, though.
