Prewar cars returning, huh?

If the prewar cars, such as the Model T, return, they should have some purpose. I'd like to race them in a historics race, or be able to sell them for millions of dollars.

I wouldn't sell.

I w00==ooullD Tuun33 33t 2 teh maxxx with NOS and stuff so i can beet ya.

I would love to see old cars like the czech Tatra or vintage porsches.
(i am not worried about pre or post war dates, just mentioning old cars)

I'd like to see some of the great '30s American roadsters. Cord, Auburn, Dusenberg, the Caddy V16....

The only purpose I see for the model T in GT5 is to crash it in 1000 pieces. :sly:

No serious, do you want to "race" with the T?
Do you also watch television in slow-motion?

Let PD come up with some nice mini game using the T.

I'd happily race with the T.

Oh no wait, wrong T. Shut up 'foo!
nah, but seriously The Model T is a nice addition, but it's just a gimmick. Races would be a bit too slow. There are plenty of old cars that would be good to race, but really the Model T is like a 1920s Mazda Demio...

I would love to have an all T race! Imagine a downhill sprintrace featuring 20 T´s! Awesome stuff!

And it isn´t THAT slow; 70 - 80 kph? :) But hey, in that speed you really have to work to get a win!

Mr. Clarkson, about the Model T:

Jeremy Clarkson
Have you ever driven one? I have - they only have two speeds. Fast and really very fast indeed.

-> Actually, I would love to see these Model T's on a downhill battle just like Initial D. I can imagine any pre-war cars with less than 50hp on Lake Haruna downhill (aka. Akina on Initial D), there will be 4 cars going downhill, its also similar to those soapbox derby (but faster than that). (:

In a game 70 - 80 kph IS slow, also the time to reach that speed is a little long.

i could almost beat them with my MTB, i've topped out 60km/h.

I did cycling at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the "Rad am Ring" event the 16th of september .
I reached a speed of 87 Km/h! in the Fuchsröhre "bend". 👍

On a bike you really feel the down and uphill sections of The Nordschleife! :sly: :dopey: :scared:  :ouch:

We should be able to upgrade the engines of pre-war cars and race them.

Actually that's a stupid idea. There's no way a Ford Model T will have enough structural integrity to house any engine larger than 80HP.

But it was a funny thought.

They have links to at least two photos of the Model T in 'action' in this article: Gran Turismo Premium Pics

This should be a direct link to a photo showing the Model T at the starting line of what I believe is the Grand Canyon track, apparently in a race against two other cars:

Yeah, with the Tank car and Cobra 427, I couldn't think of any less appropriate combination than those 3 for the Grand Canyon track, except for maybe Ice Arena.

Whaaaat? :dunce:

Classic hot rod == (1920's Model T) - (roof) + (1932 Ford flat-head V8)

The Model T is the foundation of home-brew performance! 💡

And that's the stock body and chassis?
Then my name's Uma Thurman.

Uma, Oprah...Oprah, Uma...

Fitting a V8 into a Model T requires cutting a good chunk of the frame up front, which then has to be re-supported. The main reason this is done is so that the V8 doesn't sit at about eye level, raising the center of gravity to some ridiculous height. Other than that, the Model T chassis & frame is strong enough on its own for your average flathead V8. If you want 600HP+, there's very few pre-1960's chassis that can handle that.
