Ah yeah thats true, i wasn't thinking to try different weather on them.
I wonder if snow covers the tracks? I never tried it still.

Yes it does. Set season to "Winter" and weather to "Snow".
And since 2020 is a leap year, you'll need to advance the default winter date (december 1st iirc) at least one day or the track won't be covered. Weirdest bug I've seen in a long time. lol

I've always wanted that option. I don't care about fake people I'm racing against. It's one thing if they were to create a repeating "rival" structure but a one off race, those little thumbnail pictures are hard to discern what the car even is sometimes.

This might be a good question for the Project Cars Modding Forum.

I tried wildcrest track and set snow as a season to try snow on the track but it doesn't do it.
Now i noticed the date of the race seems to take precedence over the season you set. But does each season range of dates change depending on your own region or on the tracks region?
Also what's the use of season if the date changes it lol?
I also set one of the weather choices to snow fall, but that's just for looks i guess, or makes the track wet maybe too.
1st time i notice some screen tearing is now when i set snow fall, even just light. Maybe it's the track? I only put like 6 cars..

Edit: i can see the season change changes the date automatically to a custom date. It should be the right date for that track to have the season i chose then.

Edit2: must be the track causing tearing cause it happens even no snow fall now, even in other views. Weird i never noticed any before even with many cars. I'll try other time of day.
Also tried just set season and and not touch the date it's same, no snow on track. I'll try other tracks i guess.

Edit3: i set dry weather and no tearing, must be the wet look on the track causing it, maybe worse if on a rx track cause the twisting track and maybe the dirt wet surface. I never noticed tear on wet regular race tracks.

Is there a controller setup that can make it feel more like GT Sport?
There's a few things you could do to make the cars feel more weighty/dull/less twitchy, I'll explain & advise but leave it down to you to decide.

Baring in mind I haven't played GTS so I can only go by what I remember GT5/6 feeling like.

1. FOV, surprisingly this also adds weight to the controller as you increase it, default PC2 is 70, I have it at 75. You could start at 85 if you wish & adjust your seat position accordingly afterwards. Anything over 90 does create the fish bowl effect, also this could effect your judgment of braking distances & corner apex.

2. Speed sensitivity, this stiffens up the steering sensitivity as you go faster, default was 67 I think, again I have mine set to 75. Again you could start at 85. Anything over 90 means you'll have to be at the perfect speed for that corner, anything under 90 will start to introduce a more higher steering ratio, meaning you could over steer the car, (not the same as the car having oversteer).

3. Controller damping, stiffens up the controller input across the whole range making the steering feel more sluggish regarding turning left to right. Personally I hate this & have it on 0 (I used to use 75). If however you require this take note that if you go too far above 75 (magic number) you’ll find it hard to catch slides/oversteer & flick your car through tight left/right chicanes (like at Monza). Start at 85 again if you wish. (definitely not a good idea to have this too high regarding rallycross)

Steering dead zones leave at 0 unless you have drift stick on your controller & steering sensitivity leave at 50 as this is 1:1 with your controller inputs (as with acceleration & braking).

My personal settings are
0
50
0
50
0
50
0
100 (instant clutch, although set to auto)
75 (speed sensitivity, slightly adjustable)
0 (controller damping, I never touch this)
75
0

I only adjust speed sensitivity up or down slightly regarding what car category I'm driving, car's with high grip/downforce (GT/LMP etc) I raise it slightly. Cars that require a little more slip (vintage/rallycross etc) I lower it slightly. But in general it stays around 75.

When you say "controller" setup do you mean DS4 pad/controller or steering wheel controller (eg G29, Fanatec etc racing wheel)?

As for FOV, Grumpy remember that is variable and depends on the size of monitor and distance the driver is from the monitor. There's a formula for this.

Yeh I know, but all I'm referring to is the fact that it makes your controller feel more heavy/light the higher/lower the FOV is.

Nothing more.

Not sure about that. I do not experience any difference in the weight of my force feedback regardless of FOV setting.

Not ffb or steering wheel related.

Controller use only (ds4/xb1)

I'm presuming he meant controller use, otherwise he should've stated wheel/ffb settings, not controller settings.

Sorry for the late reply. The fact that 2020 is a leap year is causing PC2 some issues. The default date when you select snow in seasons will not give you snow in 2020. You have to advance it one day (or more). I tested 17/7/20. Then you will get snow on the ground at Wildcrest.

@GTvsForza -- Reposting my settings and past remarks:
Code:
Steering Sensitivity: 10
Throttle Sensitivity: 45
Brake Sensitivity: 45

Speed Sensitivity: 75
Controller Damping: 85

Driving Assists Menu
Opposite Lock: ON
The two most important things are the opposite lock "assist" (which is not the crutch you might expect it to be), and the speed sensitivity of 75, which is the ideal setting for recovering oversteer, giving you just the right amount of countersteer almost every time, in almost every car. I narrowed that down after a bunch of testing.

The speed sensitivity setting can make the car relatively sensitive, which calls for a gentler input style than many racing games -- but not uncomfortably so (unlike PCARS1). I have tuned the steering sensitivity and controller damping to compensate for that sensitivity; those can be adjusted freely. Also, don't get too discouraged trying to make one particular car work out for you, because there are unfortunately a few bad apples in the bunch -- but only small handful in my experience, now that the game is patched up. :)

And some comments to follow @Mr Grumpy's...
  • Any speed sensitivity setting above 75 may cause some difficulty with oversteer, as the virtual driver may not countersteer enough. Lower than 75, and there is a greater risk of getting more countersteer than desired, over-correcting the slide. Keeping it to 75 might not be what you're looking for, but just remember this compromise.
  • My controller damping value (85) doesn't inhibit correcting oversteer or navigating chicanes...and this is the value you want to tweak for relaxed steering like in other games.
  • If you opt to set speed sensitivity to 75 but are hoping for more relaxed steering, I recommend pairing controller damping with a lower value for steering sensitivity (like 10). This alters the linearity of your steering input, and a lower setting will help reduce twitchiness.
  • In combination with my other settings, I personally do not find it necessary to change settings between types of cars/driving. But it's frustrating when I've only spun out because the virtual driver did not countersteer as much as he could have, so it's a preference of mine to leave speed sensitivity alone so I always have that countersteer control ready.

This game is just so sensitive with a controller, I keep spinning even with feathering the throttle. I'm so used to GTS's physics.

I think Wildcrest is set in South Africa so that might be why there's not an option for ground snow. And similarly any snow fall would melt quite quickly. Try one of the Scandinavian tracks or even the Canadian ice track.

Well it works like David mentioned below, when you set snow season, it shows 30/06... I just set it a month later and got snow on track.

Too bad the snow doesn't accumulate or isn't a thicker layer when heavy snow. But you can feel it's more slippery and feel more rumbling on the ffb. But fun to see snow cleared when no snow fall later and cars run many laps.
Bit funny how snow looks on cars hehe, like white paint, and it falls off suddenly in waves.
Also the ai was really slow when i set blizzard lol, but they're ok if less heavy snow fall.

Thanks.

Edit: Just tried photomode in the showroom, needed plug the controller to use that seems. So when i exited back to the list of cars menu, i was still using the ds4 controller and jeez it's so much faster.

Using the wheel controls for this, the car list menu is really sluggish. Maybe I'll turn on the ds4 each i go check the car's list. Just hope it doesn't mess up my wheel setups.

Was trying the la Ferrari with no aids, need be soft on the throttle hehe, the next corners come up pretty fast too.

Edit 2: that's weird, i tried using the wheel buttons on the car menu while the ds4 is still on and it's fast now hmm. Even after i off the ds4 it was still fast.
Edit3: well after i off the ds4 for a little more time, the menu goes back to being slow with the wheel. Oh well, at least you can use the ds4 to have it fast.

Ok, that's why I asked to be sure because settings for wheel (G29, Fanatec etc) and for DS4 are quite different as the DS4 can be quite twitchy on Default settings and may need to be tamed down. When I was searching for recommended settings for DS4/Pad controller I came across this offered by Johnson Racing on youtube and many users recommended it as helping them tremendously. So I noted the recommendations and tried them. They seemed to work quite well. Here it is. The youtube URL for the vid is there noted under his name and I'll include it in this post to. Might be useful to check out the vid too and see the comments. Hope it helps.

Also as for everyone who starts this game try to learn it with the lower powered cars. And for every car / track combo you go on, don't ever expect to be able to push the car to the limit. I am a (more then) competent driver and last night I wanted to have some fun with some Road A cars and boy do I struggle to master them.

Also, set assists to authentic or full. Don't frustrate yourself trying to be a hero. Especially when a car has assists in real life it's essentially build to use them.

I don't know what it was last i tried pc2 but it was really twitchy and sliddy, i know AC sometimes changed something in the wheel settings and it messed up the next game you used unless you unplugged it. Happened when i used PC1 back then.

Well im glad all feels good now, with no aids at all. Tried a few of the higher road cars like the 918, carrera gt, 720s, la ferrari no aids and it's great.
Have to say these modern supercars are technical marvels and artistically designed to assemble all that in a functional, aerodynamic, and superb looking shape.
They mostly sound ok in cockpit view in game, lucky for me cause it's the view i use in this, just wish replays sounded great. AC gets that better for sure on more cars.
Just watched Jay leno's youtube channel on the 918 and it sounds amazing. If it could just sound like that in game wow. Maybe next gen..

It says the 918 has 4 wheel steering until 128 mph i think. I wonder if PC2 simulates that? I think AC does a little.

Surprised also how not crazy hard it is without aids, again in AC it's a handfull for sure if no aids. To the point i would never get that car if based on that test drive lol.
Also as nice looking as they are in both games, they still don't look as sexy as in the vids of the real things. The 918 looks fabulous in that Leno vid.
I don't know, maybe if i change the time of day, also if the image was cleaner on std ps4 for pc2.

Im really glad though that i retried pc2 and feels great. Would have missed alot of cool content and features and a great sim when all works as should.

Cheers.

Whast car(s) are you using? The FF TC(R) cars have cold rear tyres for a while. GT Sport definitely does not replicate that. I find classic cars more controllable(stanceworks 2002 turbo, Gr.A touring cars, Ford Escorts, etc.

I also find high downforce cars like the GTO, GT-1 cars, Prototypes(787B, C9, etc) to be more controllable than the FF TC(R) machines.

Well im glad all feels good now, with no aids at all.
I think that's what it takes to get used to PC2, time. Stick with it and it begins to shine.

If you have authentic aids set in the options most of those hypercars might well be using aids, perhaps without you realising it. Many will have stability control on which will also make use of the TC and ABS. And that's not a bad thing since many need it!
(You have to disable SC before you can switch off the other two)

@GTvsForza - Don't pick a powerful racecar, treat it as if you were starting GTS for the first time. You'd be given a low powered car to begin with so pick something similar in PC2. Something like the GT86 or the Audi A1 are good candidates. Then advance from there. And use the aids if you want, that's what they are there for after all. ;)

Actually i liked it alot even at 1st, then some things made it messed up. And from what i tried, i hated SC, felt fake, so all is off now cause as you said authentic brings on other aids too. And you can't off SC separately afterwards.

If i feel some cars could use some aid, i can always on in the setup some TC..

To me aids feel better and are more needed in Ac.
Edit: also disappointments after the 1st days where it seemed amazing in most ways, from the weaknesses of it. Maybe cause of great expectations, hopes. But normal of course nothing is perfect, and it is great in many ways.
Well you're right too, there's alot of tinkering, so it does take time to try make it as good as possible.
Edit: have to say they nailed the sound of the f12tdf from outside and inside. I wonder if on pc the replays sound better. Maybe it's a limitation of the processors on std ps4.
And if it could make it better on ps5.

The huyara also sounds really close to the real thing inside and out, pretty bad ass car lol.oups is that an ok word here? Hehe.
The feel seems also pretty spot on from checking inside view videos.

The 720 also sounds great inside and out. Loving that car in this, with smooth sound and handling.

So weird there is no 787B. GTO cars and no RX-7 or MX-6. Really surprised we never got even a vintage RX-2 or SA22. Anything with a rotary.

One feature that be cool it seems is if you could, while on the track, select any set-up change and then request a pitstop and have it done while still in the car or beside the car in the pitstop, without having to go in the menus.

They could maybe slow down or pause the game while you select your setup changes in the in-car management menu. Maybe only good for single player though.
