It's just a draft for now, it will be ready (i would think) for release and no doubtly will be posted here many times.
Can we make sure and get that into a separate thread so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle?

As far as I've encountered, it's scripted weather, so each time you go through the championship, you will get the same weather events as you did before.
So if for example you hate the rain, but love a track in a particular car, you are basically screwed forever during career. That's a shame.

Is there hope that they add dynamic patterns with a patch? If it is a design choice, I'd be surprised if there wasn't heavy protest in the backers community...

If you run a series for the second time and you know exactly when the rain will come, that's not fun at all...

Racing in the rain isn't as bad as people think. With wets on the grips there and the tracks not normally an ice rink. On historics a little more care is needed but it's just as enjoyable.

if you hate the rain just simulate the race. you can just sit there and watch the screen until it's finished. or get a cuppa and a biscuit and not actually play the game you've been waiting months or years for :p

This. SMS made all that effort to create these beautiful dynamic weather/ different times of day transitions, so why restrict the career mode with scripted weather. Make use of what you created, it will only benefit the sense of realism.

Hey guys are you allowed to post racing websites on here where people can have fun online fair racing?
Or even make a new thread for people to put these in so they don't get lost instantly in here.

Well, we're pretty much all set. Project CARS has officially gone GOLD (and what I mean, in terms of program development, is that it's ready for production to the general public; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Release_to_manufacturing_.28RTM.29).

digital foundry take a near-final build for a test. some very interesting, if not unsurprising results, particularly regarding framerates on consoles:

Oh boy... Solid 60fps! ^^ :(

edit: is it possbile (from a technical stand point) that turning of some graphical options on ps4 will result in a better framerate!? if not, this really 🤬 me off right now! give me 60fps or give me death, as a fella from another board said! really! this is (most) important to me!!

To be honest, I'm positively surprised by the attained frame rates with a full LeMans grid and thunderstorm. That's a hard nut to crack even for my GTX970. And I don't agree about the 30-FPS lock. They tested under the worst possible conditions, in all other cases you will have (close to) 60 FPS. Bit I think it's a fair review/conclusion. 👍

We got informed that this was an old Build and not a near release Build as Eurogamer stated.
Personally I'm not happy that this happened.

Since the latest public console builds were from February "near-final" is probably a bit of an exaggeration. Wonder why they choose to do this now and not after release with the version gamers will actually play..? :odd:

If this DF article proves to be the case for the release version, to say I'll be pissed off is an understatment! Dips to BELOW 30fps WTF?!?

EDIT: was just sent this quote from one of the devs regarding the DF article:

"It's an old build. I'm disappointed (and that's putting it very mildly) that this has happened, not so much with Eurogamer (although once again it appears they have something of an agenda where we're concerned), but more that they were allowed to do this "analysis" at this stage with an old build."

yes I'm hopeful the newer build locked it down more and the day one patch will also have a positive effect on framerates. SMS keep saying 'buttery smooth 60fps' so let's see what happens

That review doesn't sound that bad and they took a rather sensible precaution.

... we're still shy of a last word on whether this is what we can expect on launch...

Damage/weather/40+cars on a console is bound to a few acceptable hiccups IMO.

So expect a choppy racing experience like GT6, runs at 60fps at basic tracks without much going on. And choppy at rain and day/night transitions aswell as alot of cars on screen.

Ew...

I guess because (stated in the article) Bandai-Namco gave it to them and told them it was 'submission quality'.

Sorry if this has been asked before.
Does this game track your statistics? like number of races, number of wins, KMs...etc?
Does each vehicle have an odometer?
Also does PCars have wet/intermediate tyres for when the track is wet?

This is very interesting, I didn't know that the Steam release was going to be earlier than the boxed edition release in the UK and US.

Its great news though, I am going to get it on Steam anyway so it works well for me.

any news yet on if Steam will let you pre-load the game and unlock the 7th? My internet connection - whilst stable - isn't the fastest and an 18GB download will take a significant amount of time.

1. I think it does
2. I don't think so
3. Yes

the plot thickens...

but seriously, it seems the devs are quietly confident with their product and if I have to race with some visual effects turned down or off to achieve solid fps then so be it. I would rather avoid screen tear as I personally cannot stand it.

in comparison those VVV videos of an older build do look pretty good so fingers crossed.
