I wouldn't worry about the Eurogamer article/video... Yes it may hurt the game, but in the long run if the game is truly a great game, people will notice that and it will sell just fine. ☺ keep calm and race on

5 months before the final release:

Gran Turismo 6 demo vs. Gran Turismo 5
Is lower performance the price of progress?
Reading through that they are mostly praising GT6 and i seem to remember them creaming themselves over the final game with a massive 9/10 score (Lets face it we all know EG are huge GT fanboys)

As i said lets see if they can manage to put off people buying the game of GT7 a month before the game comes out.

Anyone know why the PS4 version suffers from terrible motion blur? We have seen it in every PS4 video so far in where if you pause it the cars all round about look incredibly blurry...
This is known and was already fixed in the newer builds, hence all the videos from VVV and Eurogamer are (unfortunatly for them) outdated. Ive read there might be some current PS4 build footage from VVV prior to release... we'll see the next (3) weeks ;)

Did you read the same piece as me?

The core of the entire piece was that if you want to run without an impact on slowdown and judder you will have to stick with 720 and avoid 1080!

Its not mostly praise at all, its praise for the bits they improved dropped into an article about heavy compromise to achieve those bits of praise.

The only way EG/DF can make up for this cluster**** is to review the release version 10/10 no matter what.
Well you will be out of luck on that, they don't give review scores and haven't for a while.

I have to say I'm at a loss to understand quite why a number are getting so rabid about it. The analysis (and that's what it is - not a review) was accurate for the build they were supplied and even the original article started with this....

"As a disclaimer, we're told by Bandai Namco's PR staff that the 19GB build in test here is of 'submission' quality. A final certification pass is ongoing at Sony and Microsoft's offices, and we're still shy of a last word on whether this is what we can expect on launch. At the very least, our captures here show Project Cars in its final stages of development, but as ever, certain points are apt to change as we hone in on its release."

....now if you can't be bothered to read context..............................

I don't think EG needs to ruin there reputation. PD has done a good enough job of that on there own.
And yet EG managed to give GT6 9/10 ;)

Yes, that'll restore integrity (!).

EG lost their integrity long ago (Battlefield 4 8/10 lol it was completely broke for 6 months) and are now trying to be the hipsters of the gaming world :yuck:

Following which they changed review policy and will now only review the multiplayer element of games once they are up and running on public servers, just as they did on Hardline.....

....so yes, your dislike of EG is quite clear. But please at least try and be accurate.

And now can we get back on topic, as I'm pretty sure this is not a BF thread.

They were my goto site for years but like i said they have been on a steady decline for years now and most of their articles tend to be clcik bait articles especially trying to start fanboy wars but dam you really really like EG :gtpflag: Oh i was accurate very accurate B4 got 8/10 when it was toally broken and now today we have a face off of a racing game that is a 3 month old build making the game look very poor indeed when in actual fact this face off should of happened on review code or after the day 1 patch or better still how about a few weeks after it had launched just incase SMS improves things further with Patch 2?

I love that some americans here are so devoted to playing that they will go out of their way to buy from another country for a game they can get a few days later. Great effort!
The Steam release is May 7th world-wide, but yeah, if waiting for the retail copy then it's May 12th in US.

someone from SMS added this to the EG comments if anyone is interested:

"Just to add to our previous comments:

- In the older build that was analysed it was possible to become CPU bound with very high numbers of AI, maxing out all 6 cores on XBox One. However, Microsoft had recently opened up 50% of the 7th core to developers : in later builds the development team was able to offload work such as the audio mixing, engine sound synthesis and detailed grass generation onto this core, fixing this problem of becoming CPU limited.
- Tracks that had water elements (sea/lakes etc) in the analysed build used an expensive cube-map method for reflections leading to inconsistent frame rate. In late March this was addressed with us switching over to use a screen space reflections method - A WMD community member did some comparison benchmarks on PC when this new technique was introduced:

"B967/B968

Azure Coast 62.5 fps/82 fps +31%
Azure Circuit 61.5 fps/ 73 fps +19%
Laguna Seca 55 fps/76 fps +38%
Sakitto GP 61.5 fps/86.5 fps +41%
Nürburgring GP 57.5 fps/76.5 fps +33%

Looks identical visually, big improvement."

The relative scaling there applied equally to the console versions.
--

If you incorporate our above corrections to the article, these points and some more general optimisations that have subsequently been worked on, it's easy to see why we might feel this review isn't very representative of what the development team has achieved."

sounds like SMS are happy with what they've achieved and come May 8th i'm sure i will be too!

So should I cancel my UK PSN pre order and change my region to another European country to get it 24hrs early?

someone from SMS added this to the EG comments if anyone is interested:
Those latest changes were indeed huge. They were first applied to consoles and than to PC... I wasnt really expecting such a huge improvement just before submission to MS/Sony but it was so damn worth it (and overdue because the motion blur was bugged up until this update) :mischievous:

i want to ask my question one more time, sorry: what will the license plates look like when this game is released?! Still wmd plates?! will it be your driver name!?

I'm not concerned about EuroGamer review. I trust IGN more than EG. As I have followed Pcars progress on this forum, I highly doubted EG had launch build. As someone said, if Pcars is a good game, word of mouth will spread. GT1 had to start somewhere.

"And here he comes, up to the chicane, listen to the engine roar as he changes down through the gears, over 1 curb, then another, truly spectacular, and there he goes, off up the hill into the distance, leaving a trail of dust, smoke and burning oil!!!"

I'm already imagining boys and girls!! :)

WMD plates it is.
Seriously?! Come on!! Not really?!
It's just a little, very little detail, but I had something else in mind. and it should be easy to do. Be it templates or whatever. What about atmosphere, authenticity?!

And in hindsight we can see that the delays were worth it. Frustrating but absolutely necessary.

I like doing that coming may. But it's just a question, something other users where asking for. So I was asking here.
Pcars wants to deliver authenticity, so this is one little point (as I mentioned). Nothing that keeps me away from playing the title.
