IMHO it's one of those bugs that should take absolute top priority even though it doesn't affect gamepad users who are of course the majority but it seems to affect every single wheel player. The known work around is to set Tire Force to an extremely small number but even with this workaround I'm sure many people simply do not understand this or do not read the forums and are thus confused. I'll even go as far as requesting a yellow banner for this one as it may potentially harm some FFB wheels if you do not change the settings.
Answered a few times Manic but we're introducing three presets so everyone should have something close to what they prefer without excessive fiddling required.

I don't really understand how 3 different presets will fix the spring/clipping issue. Tons of people have been fiddling around with the FFB parameters and the only way to fix it is to drastically reduce the tire force, but that also makes the FFB non existent.

I assume a preset is just a tweaked setting of the existing parameters, meaning this wouldn't be a bug?

One really good combination in this game is the BMW M1 at Watkins Glen Short. I didn't want to stop driving, the track has such good flow to it and the Beemer's engine is a peach

Add Spa-Francorchamps to the list. Went around that track in the M1 Procar invitational and it was such a joy to drive. Almost like they built the car only for that circuit. Same goes for the Sauber Mercedes C9. I could do endless races with this car there without stopping. It is just such a fitting combination with this naturally grown track full of character and personality and these pure and raw race machines still without automatic transmission and all those electronic driving aids of today's cars.

Some proposals for another car that fits in the category of the BMW M1 and Sauber C9 and which I could take out for some laps around Spa? :sly:

He is basicly saying 1.4 FFB is already known and are being worked on and 3 presets were just a statement on its own.

Doesn't look like it to me, for me it looks like he answers the FFB bug question siting those presets as the remedy. It's the only quote of Ian related to this bug also.

Thats all i got when you find the answer you want post it here.

Did the 1.4 FFB issue only affect PC users? On PS4 I didn't notice a difference. I have FFB and Tire Force at 100 and don't seem to encounter clipping or centering spring issue.
+1
No FFB issues after 1.4 for me (PS4/T500RS).
Ah yes, once when leaving the pits the wheel seemed completely disconnected, but when I got control everything went back to normal.

+2 no problems with clipping or center spring for me either.

Also, I looked through many pages of that 1.4 FFB issue thread on the PCARS forum, and every single person that posted in that thread that I saw said PC as their platform. I looked through something like 30 pages and didn't recall seeing a single console user comment in that thread.

[EDIT] Just noticed that likely reason why is that the thread is in the PC Technical Issues section of the forum. Still, I would assume if console users have this problem, a few would have posted in there.

I love driving those 2 cars.

I agree, and I thought Ian's comment was in relation to the complexity of the FFB options rather than as a solution to any specific bugs related to specific wheels.

It seems quite a few people see not having a perfect setting for their proprietary hardware out of the box as a bug, other people really do have actual bugs with their hardware interface.

I read Ian's post on the PCars forum and as far as I recall it was in response to someone claiming there were too many configuration options for FFB and they just wanted to drive and not worry about having to manually calibrate their particular hardware.

PS4 user, lots of bugs/crashes, but no problem whatsoever with FFB.

Console master race, @mister dog.

Sorry.
I'm on a CSR remember so the game is practically polished for me now after 2.0 :p

@mr_serious You can see the post where he replied with that preset answer on this page here, they specifically asked for an answer regarding the clipping bug.

 The FFB 'debacle' continues, yet here I am with my PC version and G27 having not ever had any FFB problems.
Just don't ever reset your wheel settings or start with a clean profile. ;)

And I think the presets are a great idea. But those will of course be needed in addition to fixing the bugs.

I've tried viewing that site on Android smartphone and iPad. It doesn't render properly on either device. A bit surprising in 2015.
Flash dependent site perhaps? They should stick to HTML6 like proper websites do. :gtpflag:

Too much functionality and content for a small device (smartphone), it wouldn't be very usable. The site is very well done in my opinion. In a perfect world, it would be nice if web applications could run on any device.

Patch 1.4 was meant to fix "an issue where custom vehicle setups were lost when progressing through sessions", wasn't it? Still, I am experiencing this bug. Was in the M1 Procar invitational at Zolder. Did the practice session last week and yesterday at the beginning of qualifying every adjustment was still there. However, after doing a few laps and going back to the pits because of some damage to the car I realized everything was back in stock setup again.

Anybody else has still some issues with this or is there talk on the official forums? I am not active there.

Yeah, it doesn't look like they actually fixed it.

I have only played a few hours a couple of days ago of Project CARS, and finally got to play it a bit again today. I picked the Audi R8 spoiler version and drove it around Circuit de la Sarthe.

My last experience had a hint of frustration as I drove an Aston Martin around there and I couldn't find any feedback from the car. I could feel everything in this car, though! Felt absolutely amazing! I loved the way I went up the inside of another car only to find that it was still ahead of me mid corner; then trying to avoid the kerbs and then running over them, trying to control the car; I could actually feel the car beginning to lock as I broke. It's like the force feedback settings changed since I stopped.

I take back what I said that GT had better track detail, as I then raced in Brands Hatch which looks fantastic. I think I might only race with the Audi anymore after today lol.

A little correction: It seems it is just an issue with the M1 in particular. Took part in another invitational with the beast Mercedes 300 SEL AMG and everything was working.

Every time someone mentions ToCA Race Driver 3 they do so with a twinkle in their eye, remembering fondly of days gone by, playing the game on consoles nobody owns anymore at a resolution that makes Minecraft look rather spherical. It was indeed the racing game of it's time representing the peak of playability and immersion for its generation. Dreaming about hitting the apex at Paddock Hill on a lawn mower, you can almost smell the freshly cut grass as you run wide and crash into the barriers.
"Will there ever be another racing game that compares?" You ask, and now there is... almost.

Project CARS (yes, it's all capital letters) is the closest thing I have ever played that even comes close to the feelings I remember from my ToCA days and if SMS get their act together and quickly squash the annoying bugs still in the game, in years gone by people will reminisce about Project CARS in the same way.

Project CARS is still a bit broken and on occasions you will get attacked by a ghost, sending your chosen racer flying high into the clouds, but when everything is working well it is fantastic! Especially career mode. I've found the various championships a total joy to compete in, from the nippy Clio Cup to the full throttle Formula A, Project CARS has offered me a level of realism I have never before experienced on a console. I've been fully engrossed in every practice session, every pits stop and every time I've overcooked it coming out of a hairpin and sent myself spinning across the grass like a lost ballerina.

The AI, even though they aren't perfect are also competitive, providing you with side by side, paint scraping, edge of the seat races that will keep you coming back for more and give the game potentially endless longevity. Yes, they cut the corner and push their way in front, yes they get a bit stuck on certain corners, and yes sometimes they give up altogether and park up at the side of the track, but I like it! it gives them a sort of human quality. So despite getting roughed up on a tight left-hander, or pushed off track coming up to the chicane the game is still enjoyable enough to leave you sweating at the checker flag.. or swearing at the TV like a drunk Scotsman. Besides, what's the alternative, predictably maneuvering past a soul less train of robotic drones that couldn't smash you wide if they wanted to? No thanks!

What I enjoy the most about Project CARS is (when using a wheel) how every car feels completely different to drive. I don't know what kind of sorcery they used to create this affect, but to me it's truly astonishing. From the heavy, arm breaking steering in the open-wheelers, to the Sierra Cosworth that has steering so light it will have your arms flapping about like your trying to put up an umbrella on a windy day, each car has it's own handling characteristics that after a while will leave you believing you could tell which car you are driving with your eyes closed.

The ToCA series is what got me into racing sims/games when I was a youngster, playing as the heroes (well they were my heroes anyway) I was watching on TV on a Sunday afternoon. Being the champion at the end of series and embarking on a fantasy journey that saw me winning every championship of my virtual career.

It may not yet be the finished article, but if Slightly Mad get busy removing the slightly maddening bugs, Project CARS could be looked back at in years to come as the series that inspired the next generation of little racers to pick up a pad or a wheel and get as much enjoyment controlling tiny pixels on a screen as I did, then in time to come, when these little racers have had little racers of their own and think back to the days of the Project CARS and how it was the best sim racing game... in the world! ;)

That was an extremely un-Spooky like post. If series members see it they may kick you out.
