I don't believe that one needs to complete license tests to advance in GT5, if I am not mistaken?...
Perhaps to get to 100% complete, IDK...? But you get to play the rest of the game without it.

The license tests was one gameplay aspect of GT5 that I enjoyed. Getting 60 golds was a good feeling. Not asking for that in pCARS though :)

Without the license tests in GT1 I would be an even worse driver than I currently am. Sadly, I am not displaying false humility here.

My little hommage to our first PCs... from big white pixels to pCARS... the old farts (me included)on this forum will recognize the brand.

If a game is done well, any vehicle on a suitable track should be fun. There are plenty of broom broom games pandering to juvenile tastes, I thought we were talking serious sim racing here. There are some very promising "new era" sims coming our way, pcars being one of them. I would hate to think that they would be tailored in any way towards ten year old boys gazing longingly at a Ferrari poster.

Give me Bioshock over Quake, give me "boring" old fart cars over a childish delusion of grandeur.

Where did I mention childish cars etc?
What on earth do you read and write, it makes no sense "literally".

I'm a sim racer, I only really play sim racing games (the odd arcade game here and there).

I own a PC/PS3/360 with g25 and modded pedals.

I am buying a £1500 rig for PCars as I am anticipating a great sim, I play Rfactor, iRacng and have been a subscriber for over 3 years with good safety rating..

However, I personally don't enjoy driving slow ass cars? That doesn't mean I want cars with nitro or play ridge racer games, it means I like GTR/Formula/Touring Car/Sports and Exotic cars etc.

I just don't enjoy racing standard off the shelf cars, i prefer LeMans cars etc.. Which is ironic that you slate performance cars when your name is..... :D

I have 3 cars in real life and while they are ok, I'd like to driver faster, better cars in my simulator tht I can't race here at croft circuit.

Jesus... You really do miss the point a lot of the time.

As a father of 2 I'm glad your not my kid... You clearly never listen :D
Oh and "delusions of grandeur" using that in in your sentence, in the way in which you did is semantically incorrect.

If you want to only race boring old cars, why are you buying PCars? It's full of performance cars? :dopey:

My god, the things Ian just posted in the threads about how to go on... Whoa, just whoa! I suggest all WMD members go read the "Latest Car/Career Proposal" thread and dont be sad if you are initially a bit disappointed by the opening post. :)

Yeah a few interesting threads going up today worth reading. I wouldn't post anything here but you know what the internet is like, i'm sure it's already copy/pasted on a few sites already for those who want to know.

I don't know what the internet is like nor I know about these "few sites" with the copy/pasted content.

SpandxRacer (if that IS your real name:)), I am going to opt out of our engagement with no parting swipes. The guys that are mainstays on this thread seem like very good people, and I do not want to further sully their environment. I will continue to enjoy the pics, the chat, and may comment here and there.

Such a tease. A search and a look through my pCARS bookmarks hasn't turned up anything yet. Actually, this GTP thread here is usually the best and most active unofficial source for the latest news.

I just started on trying to read some of this stuff and feel exactly how you discribed. Kinda feel like I wish I hadn't voted retail game but free to play instead, at least at the moment.
Anyhow, I better read through it all carefully before saying anything at all anywhere. :nervous:

Edit:
I've done my reading and I must say I haven't cheered up much. :indiff: Actually it got worse, but I won't say anything as I see it as part of NDA or at least something SMS wishes to keep inside the forums.

At least I will be able to buy me a PS4 with GT6 at some point from the profits. 💡

Thanks for the tip.👍 I don't venture on WMD all that often because I find somewhat overwhelming with the time I have available for it.

Well, I think a few hints of details are starting to come out, but they may have been garbled by online translation.

On the minus side, it sound like they are thinking about paring down the car list for the initial release, then offering more cars (and tracks?) later as paid DLC, although there may be a few extra freebies.

On the plus side, it sounds like they are in talks to possibly license a number of previously unmentioned race series. I'm guessing that each one of those could potentially be its own paid expansion or addon.

One series is NASCAR and its full track list and car history, they wish to license it I think. Or something along those lines came from Ian. On the down side though, no oval racing in the current proposel (so it's still up for change) to us the WMD community. Which I don't care about, but I know a lot of you guys do.

But yeah, time is ticking and we need to seriously start to think about finishing the game. Getting the career in order and use some spit and polish to make the plan come together.

It's up to WMD to deside if and how much a DLC should cost. The WMD consists of your average sim enthusiast, so I believe the chances are good for a fair deal:)

They still have plans to acquire all car & track licenses plus some specific licenses, for example: NASCAR, DTM and LeMans right?

Although nothing is definite yet, paring down the car and track list for a DLC approach would really dissapoint, personally. Damn, I wish I could read the car/career proposal. Have yet to find a ''news leak''.

Altough I understand development time and cost, my advice to SMS is try to release as much stuff it was originally planned as possible, Virtualr.net is FULL of pr marketing, carlist tracklist etc. People remember what you said..

@Hyland: Yep, this news leak didn't happen yet. I definitely don't know what the internet is like.

Those shots are stunning as always, but the track still lacks details in my opinion especially when you see a video of it. The handling of the formula car seems good but it doesnt lost grip when you go outside of the tracks ?
