don't know how thats working on the PS4. On XBox you can play music eg mp3s, spotify etc. in a backgroud task and mix it to the gaming sound. On PC also ;)

I didnt realise that you could do that. I might have to go and have a play!

I saw demo builds floating around of Solitude Circuit a few years ago, would be nice to see some classic public road circuits feature in the game (Solitude, 14km Spa, Schottenring, Bremgarten)

Hey new to the found after hammering PC1 the past few weeks.
Loving what I've read so far with regards to new features coming.

Really hope they fix the collision mechanics and give us more options with regards to different engine and diff modes and a more expansive and immersive pit system.

I will add another to my list.... Fuel mixture adjustment.

It seems if I coast and short-shift I actually use MORE fuel, according to the Motec display. Anybody else notice this?

Im not sure what you are talking about? Ive done endurance races in leagues, short shifting and coasting definitely helps fuel mileage?
Anyways, I asked a question maybe a week or 2 ago about fuel mixtures and they ARE in, @The_American said there are maybe 10 different mixes/modes you can use.

Awesome! Not to derail the thread but on Formula C when I coast and short shift the display always shows a higher number for fuel consumption . Maybe I am missing something?

Oh okay haha, i don't really drive the formula c, but it's h-pattern shifting? So using the clutch when shifting up and down will help fuel mileage, even just holding in the clutch before a braking zone as an "extreme lift and coast" works well, expecially with my clutch wear.

No clutch, just the paddles . Yeah but short shifting and the coasting made the fuel per lap go up..Weird car :dopey:.

Anyhow, back to the wishlist!!

So, with everything I've as of yet heard, there's one feature left that I've always wanted to see in a racing game, but only GT ever did it (and I didn't have a PS3): A track creator. The opportunity to freely design your own layout, determine the width of the track, the elevation changes, place gravel traps and grass etc pp. And then ... have races on it. I've always dreamt of designing my own track, and to be able to do it - even if you have only two or three preset maps where you can let your imagination run wild - would be absolutely insane.

Just imagine having a league race on your very own racetrack.

PS: As long as that feature is considered for PC3, I don't really care for the cars and especially the tracks that will be in it. But I'm afraid that a track editor will remain a dream for a very long time...

if there is a riable trackeditor, why should the laserscan a real track. Just a picture vrom google maps - track editor -> ready to go. No,no. can't be the future. Thats why pCars will never have a track editor

Track creators are going to take a long long time of development to get anywhere near laserscanning.

A legitimate Track Creator would be a game all to itself. It would need, but not limited to:
Surface texture creator & editor
Prop creator & editor
3D Grid mapping (Topography software)
Racing Line creator

Basically, in order to be done well, the Track Creator "game" would need to be a full-blown CAD and Photoshop Software. Unless you just want the generic joke of a thing GT6 came up with.

Personally, I'd rather leave all of that stuff to the devs to make replicas of real-world tracks.

Or just learn editing tools for Assetto Corsa ;) A lot of people are making they own tracks there :)

- The most important to me is keeping people online. I want just to open the game, choose one from many full grid server and start the race (not qualifications or practice) asap with others, every day on different track with different conditions.

Not like in AC where there is only Nurburgring practice, Spa / Monza GT3 100% grip, 20 min qual and 7 lap race. People waste 20 minutes and when the race starts, half of the grid crashes on T1.
I expect from PC2 to:
- Use last race results to fill the grid for quick races.
- Discourage people from always driving in best possible conditions.

I'd like to see all cars except one locked in each class. Too unlock rest of them, player need to complete achievement. Achievements should be focusing on driving online.

It's great that there will be streaming tools but why would somebody like to watch like group of basement dwellers drive around for an hour?

Answer: Spectator must be connected to the one of drivers.

Example #1: When Kubica was driving in F1, everybody in Poland had became F1 expert. After his accident, almost nobody watch F1 anymore. People there watched F1 just because he was from the same country.

Example #2: Eurogamer Assetto Corsa Championship - best AC players and only 300 people watched it. I watched because one of players is in the same league with me (I watched just for a while though, because the quality of the stream was ridiculously low).

Conclusions:
- organize competitions with best 32 drivers from best 32 PC2 leagues. Races shouldn't be too often because people will lose interest in watching it. Rewards make spectators want to play the PC2.

- add an option to customize the list of the drivers (instead of class, many people would like to see nationality of the driver, logo of a team / league or brand of a car.)

What I'd like to have in pCARS2 are features from good old LFS like:
- layout editor (cones, barriers, lines)
- free camera mode + keyframes option or some simple version of matinee from ue4
- big car park

- 2-3 formula drift cars (In PC2 improved physics will allow drifting)

- exporting replays in uberultrasuperpcmasterrace quality directly to video (Quicktime format with DNxHD codec (best for editing) or mp4 (best for sharing))

- driveclub rain effects (I know driveclub is ps exclusive and 30 fps only, but why not to keep current rain effect for consoles and old PC.)

- this effect for lights saw from the inside of a car:
2597779342_52f2915c6b.jpg

In this video the windshield is completely transparent

Cool, but not important features I'd like to be implement after the release:
- In PC2 will be mud, rain and driving just behind other cars => a lot of dirt on the windscreen => windscreen washers support

- Blinker / indicator support

- Long / short lights for road cars

- In graphic settings, add low-medium-ultra comparision images representing what each option does. Changing graphic settings shouldn't require restarting the game.

- Add driving school + teach a player how to set up the car.

Plain and simple....just the ability to pick our own field of cars. No racing game does this yet and I just feel it should be simple to do. Why not have an all Mercedes track day race or all corvette race...maybe even a gt3 and gt4 race where I can select maybe 3 McLaren 650s gt3s, 5 mustang gt4's, one or two Porsches 911 rsr (if it's in the game)...just something fun and oddball at times. But can be competitive, I just want to pick my own cars to race with

I half expected this after seeing your post in the other thread.:lol:

Yeah I watch pretty much all the recaps of those races and it is rarely boring. The racing is really door 2 door, cars sound very nice and some drivers are impressive. Their local virtual racing finds its way with the rfactor mods for pc but I have yet to see a publisher / developer picking up on this great series. Same can be said for the Super TC2000 and the Brazilian V8 Stockcars 👍:D

I would wish for race engineers that are a little more active and hands on.

Enjoying pCars very much, but one thing I would suggest is a simplified tuning system. As a driver, I may not want to be adjusting every small detail on the car for each track. That's what my engineer and the rest of the team are for.

The level of detail needed to set a car up is all well and good and enjoyable to learn (just like every other racing games/sims), but at the end of the day mostly unnecessary. The engineers should be clever enough to look at the track/race/telemetry and suggest gear rations, pressures, fuel loads and so on. Its just silly that a decent race team would send out a car fully loaded with fuel for an 8 lap race, with gears that cannot be used, brakes that lock up and so on.

I'd like some form of iterative tuning, where I do some practice laps, get some multiple choice questions from the engineer about how it feels, the adjustments are made, do some more laps etc... until the car feels good.

For example, after a few laps the engineer would suggest that a gear ratio change would maybe be useful to get more usage from the gears. If the tyres don't come up to temp, he could suggest perhaps a pressure change. If the brakes are locking, he would adjust the pressure or balance.
Looking at the cornering, is there oversteer or understeer? Too much body roll? He could tweak the suspension or sway bars or diff or whatever to try help.
I could chose to apply the suggestions one at a time to see if they feel better or not, and discard the ones that don't help.

Basically, I've joined a race team but seem to be doing all the work on the car myself.

Obviously, others would want to go into the finest detail of the car or the perfect setup, so I'm not proposing removing anything. Just adding a layer on top that allows some sensible feedback and response with the Engineer to get the car race ready without too much slider dragging.

What all do you reckon goes into that? And how would you propose making the tools accessible to anyone and in a nice, neat package for everyone to use?

People can learn how to use Photoshop and create the textures and surfaces, but adding that product into a game is not so simple. GT6's Track Creator is pretty clever, but it is miles away from anything anyone would consider an authentic track creation software.

@The_American has confirmed there will be a feedback system with your engineer and a simplified setup option (online included):

^yes, forgot to mention this previously in my "for you guys that dont like to work on setup tuning" post. More details on this later, we have it too.

Ian (and also many at SMS) have the opinion the first game was a little too academic/cold/lonely/intimidating for some players. So we have tried to address this in different ways for pC2. We feel that generally people who enjoy casual driving games should also enjoy simracing. But the simracing makers have failed to reach some of the audience. Just like my calc teacher failed to reach me!

I wnet through the entire YouTube channel, petrolicious, and I have to say that for a wish list I want every single one of the cars they document in their videos. I want 1950-1980 European stuff that looks great, sounds great, and drives with a lot of character. Doesn't have to be fast, just have lots of character. See profile picture for guidance.

The Escort 1600 is one of my favs. It has all that character you mentioned.
I dd wish for under 2000cc Trans Am CR's like your avatar. 👍 I hope it happens. At least, for DLC.

That sounds great. Things like that let us spend more time driving and less time in menus playing with sliders. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would enjoy practice sessions more if I could just feed back something to an engineer that would make some changes and send me out again.

Thanks for the info,
