I feel a bit stupid myself to have spent so much money on it. But on the other hand it's really great to read about the PSP, and people discussing these handhelds and speculating, while you yourself are testing the thing right down to its limits. Playing MP4 movies works absolutely great, as does MP3s and JPGs, and on Friday I'm getting my 512mb mem stick. Just to have a 'hard drive' like that in a console and be able to connect it to the PC through USB 2.0 in a twiddle, is such a luxury. And Ridge Racers is an awesome game, with tons of tracks and championships (39 world tours, 24 tracks and 48 cars to unlock, as far as I can tell). It got 37/40 in Famitsu, and it's justified. A great launch game. This system really does match the current generation of home consoles in power, and is a lot more modern to boot. Awesome. Just a small detail - I can copy my savegame and whatnot from Ridge Racers to my PC directly over USB right now, without needing anything but the cable I already have 8 of (small to large usb). It's a matter of selecting USB mode from the menu and the computer recognises it. Then you do your thing, press x to leave USB mode and you go watch that movie, or listen to that song. It's really well done, I'm deeply impressed. Will do a full review by tomorrow - had the thing for a week now so I feel like I'm ready.

What else does it do besides play video games?

It plays mp4s, mp3s (and ATRAC supposedly), and can show jpgs. I have a 512mb card in it now which allows for some decent playage. ;) Als an mp3 player the battery lasts just over 10 hours (as you can switch off the display most of the time).

The graphics are simply stunning. Since this screen is tiny, the resolution of 480x272 is really high. Even so the graphics are so sharp you can still see these pixels, which is both a downside and an upside, but when you see it, I guarantee you won't believe how good this thing looks and the graphics are. The game certainly looks better than the original Ridge Racers 5 on the PS2.

I'll write a review tonight of Ridge Racers, as most things have been said about the PSP by now (but I will make a summary page).

You don't accidently know if there is a maximum size of memory sticks you can use for the PSP, do you? You can buy 2GB max., but can the PSP handle them?

I don't think there's any limits in that respect. But the PSP takes the DUO Pro memory cards (the really tiny ones), and they currently only seel 512mb here, 1GB is becoming available soon though.

I've had mine for a while, as well. I'm surprised by how good the launch games are. RR, Lumines, Hot Shots Golf, and Dynasty Warriors are all excellent games.

Blows away the DS, IMO (the current lineup of titles, anyway).

:drooling: I had a feeling this thing would get here before GT4... Anyway, sounds good but sounds like I'll wait a bit... by then it will be cheaper, no bugs and things will be more avalible.

 anyone play GT4 on it yet? whatever... :odd:

Mario 64 isn't bad, and some of its pen mini games are very funny. But it's not my kind of game, cute fat old italian pizza guys don't particularly turn me on. :yuck: :D

Lumines is coming my way - eventually (I ordered it but it's still on preparing order). Ridge Racers is absolutely awesome though! I've unlocked all 24 tracks and am still collecting the cars, got more than half of them now, but there are really many! Some World Tours are pretty tough - I have trouble with the second duel, and with the final race of the 3rd or 4th Extreme World Tour.

The quality of the sound in the cool ending credits movie is some of the best I've ever heard on anything anywhere, let alone a handheld! I took out my Sennheisers for it and it still rocks!

And my PSP is now always with me, also as a trusty MP3 player, thanks to the 512mb Duo Pro card from Scandisk (they're down to 57 euro already, great stuff).

I have had mine since Dec 16th and I cant put the thing down...I have Lumines and Ridge Racers. Ive got more games on he way with my GT4...

Well,i finally got mine aswell. It looks and feels awesome. The graphics are incredible(for a handheld).I also got Ridge Racers(best Ridge Racer ever).I was blown away after seeing the intro,it's incredible. The actual game looks superb.I have included some foto's that i just took. For some reason the picture you see where i am playing Ridge Racers is really bad.Once you actually see how bright the screen is and how incredible everything looks you can't be anything else but amazed.

Also about Ridge Racers. The lightning effects are incredible. They are better then in most of the PS2 games.Another nifty feature is that while you are racing you can pause the game, turn off the PSP and when you want to continue you can turn it on,unpause the game and continue where you left off.

Total cost of PSP Value Pack+Ridge Racers+Shipping=€500
Worth every penny.
