Ok, on to my report..

Really happy with my Q. A perfect Q for me would've been a 55.6, but really happy with my 55.8 concidering the nature of how we're doing it..

Was 3rd, but Tony decided not to race so started in 2nd, in between 2 aliens. 👍

I was really concerned about T1 so was a tad too concervative loosing my spot to Nige.
Nige and Josh had good pace, and I saw the disapear inch by inch.
I found myself in 3rd, with a gap down to 4th which gave me some room to breathe.
I drove pretty concistant, but not fast enough. Was hoping to lap in the high 55's, but never found that kind of pace.
I was initially going for a 2 stopper, but felt my tyres starting to loose grip at around lap 10-9-10 already.
So decided to make the race a 14-15-15-15 lap one.
But wanted to get a good jump on Nige and Josh to give it another go to try and keep up, or at least slow them down a tad, so went in at lap 11.
So it was not a 14-15-15-15 race any more, it was a 11-16-16-16.
I "knew" I had to fill up 85 liters in total to reach the finishline, so decided to split that up in 3, instead of 2.
Was all by my self in the pits at lap 11, and only added 15 liters to keep the stop short.
So was exiting the pits in last place, but with a good amount of laps to jump the guys ahead, especially to 2-stopper since they had another 8 laps on much older tires than me.
So from here on, it was 100%, but still did'nt reach in to the 55's on a regular basis which was my hope.
Caught up to jtv and ren after a while and did'nt loose too much time doing so.
Was passing Johan, Wii and Pag by lap 14-16 iirc, and saw that those guys went for a 3-stopper like me.
A little later, I was passing the 2-stoppers as well. My "jump" was a success this far.
So ran in 1st for a while. Saw Nige catching up pretty quickly towards the end of my 2nd stint. And he was on fresh tires while mine started to give in at this time.
This was at lap 25, and my scheduled 2nd stop was lap 28.
So I thought that when Nige do catch me (that was obvious), I'll try to keep him behind me for as long as possible to take his best laps away from him.
He did'nt have to fight for long though.
By lap 26, he had already passed me.
Johan did a good 2nd stint in 3rd by this time, and passed me on my 28th lap just before the last chicane, and then he went in to the pits just as I had planned, so I decided to stay out one more lap to avoid beeing held up in the pits when the AI is driving (tend to slow down a lot if you're too close to another car in the lane), so my race was now a 11-17-15-16 one.
During my 2nd stop, I decided to put some more fuel in to keep my last stop shorter. Filled up with 25 liters this time, so had put 40 liters in in total.
According to my tests (based on 100% attack fuel depletion), I had to fuel 85 liters in total, so was looking at a 45 liter pit stop for my last stop.
When I came out on track after my 2nd pit, I was right behind a group with Dom, Tim, Paginas, Johnkiller and Wii (iirc), and was'nt happy with that. Cause all of my laps where I had the best tires was consumed by battles and dirty air.
Should've short fueled on the 2nd stop as well to get out ahead of that pack ofc :banghead:

Either way, I still had a concistant pace and defenetly saw a 2nd or 3rd within reach.
And when the 2-stoppers went in for their 2nd stop around lap 40, I passed all of them. I had a really nice gap now down to 3rd (was running in 2nd behind Nigel) who was Johan, and even more gap down to the fastest 2-stoppers Tim and Dom (Nige not counted for).

I now went in at lap 44, and was about to take my last chunk of fuel.
As I said before, I "knew" I needed 85 liters to make it to the finish, but was totally confused when the pit crew said 30 liters.
I did some quick maths and added 15+25+30=70.. :confused:
Totally confused since I was about to put 45 liters in.
But did'nt dare to trust the crew, so decided to put in 43 liters.
And that took for ever!!!
Johnkiller pass me as my tires are already changed and was only waiting for the fuel guy to finish his work.. Then.. Tim.. Zooom.. Then Dom. Zooom.. Still in the pits.
Finally, I'm on my way out, around 5 seconds behind Dom.

But I had good tires, so was pretty certain I would catch him.
After about 6-7 laps, I'm in striking distance.. Too early on the throttle out on the main straight -> sand -> lost 5 seconds..
And suddenly, Jason was on my back.
But I found pace again, so left Jason behind and started to catch Dom again.
And by lap 58, I was on his tail again.
On the last lap, I was going all out to set up a pass, and from nowhere, Johnkiller is now just a few car leanghts ahead of me and Dom.
Tryed the best I could, but was'nt strong enough to get close enough before the race ended.

It was a super funny race. The 2 and 3 stop strategy seemed to be dead even, and that made this race extremely funny even when I was alone. Always trying to see where the opponents was..
I think that if I had trusted the pit crew, I could've got out ahead of Dom, and as a result gained even more time, with a possible 2nd as a result.
But had to be happy with 5th.

Good racing to all I was close.
I was perhaps a bit stubborn with Nige at some point, but I guess he's already so fast so decided to make him work for it if only for 1/2 a lap. ;)

TBH I'm not sure from the pictures.

Clearly the SC430 has the position entering the corner, but it took him so long to hit the apex a car from 100+ feet back managed to get completely inside him before it.

It depends on the velocity and direction of the HSV at the point of impact whether he was holding the inside line or would have swung wide into the SC430 regardless.

If he would have hit the SC regardless, it means the pass wasn't possible, because a slower entry would yield a further ahead SC430.
If he was holding his line, he got inside before turn-in through overly early braking by the SC430, fair and square.

On a serious note, that definitely looks like a divebomb. I never saved the replay so I can't look myself, but I think the pictures show it pretty clearly.

That was the main reason why, starting in last, I lagged back on the start. Didn't want to cause anything like that, and wanted a better chance of avoiding it if it did happen in front of me. Everything seemed clean on the start, though.

There's no way to decide from the pictures. It needs to be looked at on the replay.
But yes, 49 mph seem to be a tad too fast concidering you're so close there..
But I don't want to make decitions by those photos here.

I'm sorry, there's no way on god's green earth this car should have been physically able to be beside that car entering the corner.

We determined last week if you brake too early (and that was WAY less early than this) you pose a hazard on the racetrack.
Surely it will be discussed behind closed doors.

I'm not trying to humiliate you. Please don't get the wrong idea. There is no reason for this attitude right now. Did I brake early? Yes, but I kept the same distance between myself and Hancoclc during the hairpain. I'm not saying you dive bombed me, but you did enter the turn a little too hot, imo. Once Jeff uploads the replay, it will be solved. Races are rarely won in the first few laps, so why risk a move that will most likely end in faliure.

It all depends on what view you use. I use bumper, which gives me a rear view. If you were using a rear view then you would have seen a move being placed and I clearly had line, but I'm done with this convo, no attitude here. Again congrats on the win!!!!

Sorry DRE, but when you race in someone else's series/lobby etc, it's what's good according to them that counts..

"Clean" racing is subjective, however, there is one golden rule - if in doubt, NEVER make contact (for any reason), no matter how small the contact, especially in full damage endurance racing.

If you're confused, no offence, either don't race, don't make moves like that or make sure you are 100% clear on what is deemed acceptable by the organisors before the next race

I watched the replay a number of times, it's unfair on other guys when people are divebombing like that (move).

It was obvious the guy infront was taking a wide line in (on a corner with different lines), so you have to be ahead, cleanly (without contact) at apex and then pull a block move, otherwise it's a divebomb.

We raced together at Monza without incident, so I know you're not a bad guy, but full damage enduro racing is quite different and you really got to be less aggressive with moves like that.
 
So I started in 5th, and had already cemented in my mind I would be taking it easy, even if that meant giving up spots to eager hotlappers in the opening laps.
I lifted a bit off the start so I wouldn't pass Rich (the start seemed a bit funky) and Simon was ready to pounce for 5th into turn 1, so I lost a spot immediately. :lol:

Calm and steady through the first laps, I did a wonderful job of not giving a damn what anyone around me wanted. Everyone was pulling away slowly up front, but I wasn't hotlapping today, I was going incident-free instead. :)
Finally made a flub on lap 5 and Jason snuck past, and then iirc I held Tim up a bit, flubbed again on 13 and he got past. On to holding Johan up with my slow cautious driving. :dunce:

Johan was the first driver I noticed pit, on lap 14-15, and I thought "YES!" he's doing the 3 stopper! He was, it just wasn't the favor I had thought...

From there I cruised along decently but couldn't find any extra pace to reel Tim in easily, until lap 19 I finally got close enough and made the pass, holding the position entering the pits as hoped.
In the pit I decided to take as little fuel as I thought would reach lap 40, I realized I never remembered to do that math, so I guessed on 24L.
Almost, if I'd guessed 22L I might be telling a different story, Wii and Dan caught up, with Wii just barely beating me through turn 1 on the outside.

I didn't really want to fight him, and wanted my tires warmed and his older before I made a move, but thanks to another flub that left Josh catch and pass me around lap 25, it was a 4 car pack and there wasn't going to be any kind of pass anytime soon from the back. :/
Finally on 29 I think Josh braked too late in the draft and I whizzed past and was clear of Wii and Josh. I don't remember passing Dan so I guess he pit?

From there I tried to run smooth and steady, but needed to make up time. Denied, cautious driving thus far has me in a different mode, and I can't switch back and forth that easily. Mistakes and generally slow laps left Johan reel me in like a fish, by the time I pit he was 10 seconds up on me, him in *1st* and I in *2nd* (Not really cuz Nige)

Pit on 40 as planned, here comes the wait... Game suggest 53L, I put in 56. Shortly after, I panicked, realizing that was only 80L, 10 less than planned.:scared:
Came out just in front of Tim where he couldn't reach, but made my big flub on lap 45, a spin exiting the chicane, in which I lost 6-8 seconds, and put Tim way up in front and Dennis up my arse.
And then... the most grueling 15 laps I've ever driven, ever. My knees became numb at some point (2 hours of serious racing on this brake pedal is Fing hard the first time) ass has been hurting for half an hour, leaning to one side and it was just Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis closer and farther and closer and farther, then in my draft, then off and back, then back on me, in my draft again(not exaggerating one bit) then back out, and then...Johan?
He must have damage or be out of fuel! Wait.. no he seems ok...wait where'd Dennis go? oh thank god, final corner exit - the rear slips and I decide I can floor it anyway, back end skips out and I'm a hair from losing it. :scared: Didn't.:crazy:

4th slowest fastest lap takes 4th despite a spin. :)

Pits - Draw (imho)
I honestly don't think there was a "better" strategy today. Just some got caught in traffic and/or made mistakes, and some didn't.
I got caught in traffic, I had the pace to make the pass and get away, but Wii and Dan did an excellent job staying in front and capitalizing on my mistakes despite being on older tires. 👍

Congrats to Nige for neatly filling Tony's shoes as resident alien of the day, you went at practice pace all day until it was clinched, like a true professional. :bowdown:

Tim for nabbing second, guess you have to stop calling yourself slow now, all slow-complaining rights are lost once you hit a podium in JGTS right? :sly:

Johan for what would have been second in a great run to 3rd, shame about the pedal, dreadful to watch, as you play with the brakes visibly in the replay trying to get the brake off.:banghead:

It was a great race, like being chased by a dog at the end there though. I had the same problems you speak of. :yuck:
 
Only HSVs in D2 were me and Phras. H is in a Xanavi GTR :p.

Totally feel for you. The load cell puts more of a beating on your leg than you'd think. :lol:
CALM gave me a burning leg for days til I got used to the torture of standing on that bad boy for 3 hours.

Haven't run a race that *complete* since the Camaro series.

So... here's my race in a nut shell: making a good late season push, I like 2.09 :D

The long way around: (long race = long report) ;)
Practice was rough trying to get the car to stop understeering like mad on throttle exiting the tight corners. Meanwhile Nige and Dom are cracking 54.9... Got it to start working at the end of the session and finally got below the wall of mid-56 with a 56.1 on old tires.

I stink at qualifying and gave it a good run after some Saturday practice where I was able to start seeing 55 on cold tire 3-lap rushes. Got a nice 'bank-lap' in that I figured was good enough for D1 and "gave it the beans" on the second one. It was enough beans that I could have been starting in front of Dennis in a podium spot. O_O But some of the beans fell over the line in Turn4 and fell back on my banker.

Starting 9th due to tony not taking the grid was nice, I'd done a 55 in warm-up so everything felt good. Start went off without a hitch even with a kind of vague start line and short run to turn1. Everything went clean, few spots shuffled but no contact. Jason had gotten around Wii and was working on Dom while I fell in behind the supra for a bit to get settled in. Figured the fast company in front and behind it was safe to just hunt with the pack, save fuel and rubber.

We had a nice train going from the podium back but when rich popped out of existence it left a big hole in the draft and they took off with simon now at the head of our snake. By about lap 3 ish I'd seen Jason make good progress getting by Dom, so I decided to leap with him. Had a good go at Wii, great wheel to wheel driving was had and I was behind the wieder after T4. Feeling cocky I decided to have a go to see if I could just follow RT through the woods (I love following Jason through traffic 👍 ). Dom parried and I chilled out.

Simon had a bit of a gap to our train that now went from Jason in 5th to maybe 11th place; but we *finally* started getting down into the 56's and it looked like Jason would wind him in. So I just hung out behind for a while. Wii behind wasn't pushing and I'd gotten rather used to the handling behind the honda tornado.

We hung out like that for quite a while in a nice train where no one could really get any attack but we were all nose to tail. Was almost relaxing... but we were slow. The red times were going up... we were reeling in the Petronas, and the lap times were going down. But the tires were in the meat of their goodness and we were still in mid-56. I tried pressuring Dom to put heat on RT thinking he must have thought we needed to go faster as well (being 54 capable). But after a few laps of that Jason kept getting quicker, we were walking away from Wii and company; but Dom caught some sand coming out of bit kurve and skidded out of it somewhere in the early teens. :/

So I got that one but dodging the HSV had cracked a wide gap to the Z I didn't want to lose. And by now there was blood in the water for RT with Simon right ahead. I lost that game and Jason got Simon's coat tails to DRS away from me before I got to grab his. *curses* Every trip down the front and back straits he got closer to his prey and I got farther back.

By 15-16 we'd gone by some 3 stoppers and I was having a hard time keeping pace as the rear end started getting greasy. Was starting to wonder if I'd done the same thing I did wrong at Laguna Seca by thinking I can go fast on old tires. Seemed like that was a common theme in the group as we were all not really closing or gaining on each other any more. Just running an inconsistent mix of 57's all around.

As the 2-stop window started to open it was a fight to keep even low 58 pace and Dom caught me up and Jason caught Simon up. Seemed like both the lexi fell apart at the same time. :lol: They both dove in with the early stoppers @ 19 which actually gave me the lead for 1 corner before honda went by and shot off to a nice gap before we ducked in on 20 for service.

I'd used over 1/2 a tank so it seemed Dennis calculations were right and this was a 2-tank race. So I just said eff it; break up the pack and I filled that bad boy all the way up. 59L IIRC... took so long I went from p2 back out into p11/12 behind ren. But I saw Simon and Jason just down the road so they must have also done the full-fill. CSL was *gone* though, so I figure he took the free splash.

I got by ren surprisingly quickly at a hairpin, guess he didn't want to party on cold tires. not sure where he got to but I was pretty much on my own at that point back where I started. Hunting Simon and Jason on the horizon. With fresh tires and clean air. Was a good stint... nice and peaceful mid-point of just doing consistent laps. Complete with front row seats to the RT and Cicua show.

I couldn't really tell if I was catching them or not, distances are tricky at nurF. So I just kept pushing at it. Was a good while where every lap was faster than the one before it until I'd gotten down to 55.6. Oddly I still couldn't tell if I was getting any closer. But the gap tot he leaders was pretty stable and had gone down below 40s so that kept me going... then I got gifted another position when Josh dropped out. So I was back where I started in 9th. But still keeping good pace at least but starting to hit the mid-point of the second stint.

Through the middle part of the second stint Jason had gotten away and I had a nice race with Simon for most of the late20's and early 30's while we jumped over the 3-stoppers. Lots of good attacking and defending even though my rears were starting to give up. I had some pass attempts foiled by smoking an outside wheel. Took quite a few tries to make one stick. Was great fun and good racing Simon. 👍

Gap to p1 had swolen back up into the 40's though and I was hitting the lap 15 cliff with Dennis up my butt on what seemed like unholy grip levels. Assuming he must be on a 3-stop I tried to hold him up, but out braked myself a bit into the chicane and gave him a bit of a door tap. :guilty: Let him buzz me on the straight and tried to fall in and follow. :lol: good bye... off he walked while I nursed my wounded shoes to the next stop. Which mercifully came @ 40.

The game offered me 23L; so I took 25. And hilariously as I'm pulling out of the pits I see CSL above an HSV which gets out of the front pit stall. Exactly where I was going into the pits for the first stop... it's like the 2nd stint didn't happen as I was back in 8th place. :lol: (but > 1 minute behind the leaders O_O)

"Time to get on with the program" being green to push til the end, I really didn't want to let Dom get away. He was super quick in practice and I wanted to ride some coat tails again. I got a good jump by cracking some hot out-laps on the cold tires, hitting 56.0 on the first one and dipping into the 55 for the good part of the run. So by lap 45 I'd closed up a good bit on Dom, we'd caught Wii, and through some pit stoppers I'd jumped back up to 5th with the gap to the lead back down under 40s.

I was pounding away still trying to reel in the draft with the DRS gap palpable when he got wide coming out of the chicane and spun it before the last corner. He spun down into the pit road so I just scooted right by to grab 4th; only to get a podium spot as someone was pitting. Whoo hoo!

But no Dom meant that I was a lone wolf again with a blue car on the horizon which must have been about 10s up the road as I was a high 20 behind Nige and he was out of sight. But this time with no Dom I was unfortunately a lone wolf hunting without a pack. But I figured I needed to push to keep 3-stoppers off my back at the end anyway so I'd have a go at reeling him in.

I did several consistent 55's while the tires could do it and I found that the big hairpin before schumacher is the best place to gauge distance. He would get a bit closer every lap and the gap to Nige was coming down as well. But by the 15 cliff in the mid 50's I'd cut the gap in 1/2 to Johan but I figured it was hopeless at this point. I was only taking tenths out ever lap... just not enough. But there was nothing in my mirrors so I figured I'd just keep going at to make sure I held 3rd. Podium was going to be sweet enough.

By the late 50's my gap to Nige had stabalized, and it didn't look like I was gaining anything on that blue car anymore even though I was still running good 57's. but then on lap 59 coming out of bit kurve I was gaining like mad all of a sudden. I thought he'd run out of fuel (apparently brake issues :( ) at that point I was overjoyed. And took a parade lap to the checker ... I think my last lap was 2min because I really didn't want to eff up what I'd achieved. :lol:

Great Race everyone. I'm going to try and make a late season charge up the boards like last year. Be ready for Motegi; I think that's the only place I can try and win. :trouble:

Just curious to know what hp everyone finished with? My GTR was down to 489hp by the end of the race! Lol

Just ran a handful of laps at Spa with the same tune as Nurb F (except tranny) and managed a 2'14.5xx for reference :)
