Well I'm happy with that trailer, it's about what I expected. Glad to see the ST185 is going to be included with this pack, this game badly needs more Toyotas. The Lancia looks pretty epic as well. I will definitely get this.

I'm also happy with the trailer, the stages look good, nice jumps and hair pins

I'm excited about all the cars!! Rally upgrades!!!! Trans, tires, lights, mudflaps AHHHH SO EXCITED. And rally upgrades available for other cars?! I can make my evo 6 and bmw 2002 rally spec?! Ahhh can't wait. Too excited to speak intelligently

Being able to apply rally upgrades to other cars is probably my favorite part about all this. 🤬 yes!!

I wonder if you could make a Rally Spec Viper. :P

I was thinking the same thing if rally upgrades are available on all cars or just awd ones or ones with rally heritage? I dunno I can't imagine they added mudflaps and fog lights for Lamborghinis...

It does say in the article you can apply the rally upgrades to any car in your Forza Horizon garage. I have no doubt that this is the case. Remember, this is a game with events where people race Lamborghinis and Ferraris on dirt to begin with. There is an orange wrist band event where this literally happens.

Hmm...this got me thinking too. I am a bit concerned. Maybe things like lights, flaps, scoops etc cannot be applied to Forza's current cars? Sure you can make it rally spec but can you make it LOOK rally spec? Hmmm.....Cosmetic upgrades are like last thing racing games like to offer nowadays.

Cosmetic upgrades were never implied. Those are added within the usual bumper/skirt/hood/wing categories, just like they were in FM4, and I'm sure they'll only appear on the Rally Pack cars.

The interview lays out exactly what they're adding to the existing garage: "rally tires for improved grip on loose dirt and gravel, springs and dampers that raise and soften the suspension to maintain stability on the most sever off-road terrain, and rally transmissions that feature shorter gear ratios more suited to the quick accelerating nature of rally racing."

Right now there doesn't seem to be any drawback to using performance street tires on gravel, so I wonder how the rally tires will play out.

The stages are full of severe and sudden terrain changes, including steep banks, narrow tree-lined cuts, big bumps, jumps, drops...
I hope we get some real altitude out of this. We need more mountainous roads. The corners and spots I saw in the trailer look great. 👍

That would be a bummer then with no rally cosmetics to the current cars. It would surely bring new life. The car list would be bumped up tremendously IMO. Something like how Shift has a small list but with works conversions makes a whole different car.

I know what you mean, Mazyata, even just universal mudflaps and roof vents would add a lot to the game. I know of at least a couple games that allow you to equip any car with the "rally look" that way.

Forza Horizon developers Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios have revealed details of their upcoming Rally expansion pack, out December 18 on Xbox Live Marketplace for 1600 Microsoft Points ($20 USD). The add-on, in fact, goes well beyond the typical car pack. This one actually changes the game by adding co-drivers who shout rally calls, new stages, new online events, and yes, five new cars. Let's break them down:

New Stages
Forza Horizon Rally packs new point-to-point rally stages that span the game's fictional Colorado setting. The stages are "full of severe and sudden terrain changes, including steep banks, narrow tree-lined cuts, big bumps, jumps, drops and natural hazards like rocks and trees," says Horizon design director Ralph Fulton. "In addition, we've got more road surfaces than ever before, on-track vegetation with new physics properties, and new particle and sound effects."

New Cars
Yep, no racing game add-on would be complete without new rides, and Horizon Rally includes five -- all of which have close ties to rally racing. There's the '92 Celica pictured above, the 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR, the 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth, and 1982 Lancia 037 Stradale. Season Pass owners also get the 2003 Ford Focus SVT. And they're all upgradeable: "You can take the same rally upgrades that are featured in the cars that are packed in with the expansion pack and apply them to any car in your Forza Horizon garage," Fulton explains. "These upgrades include rally tires for improved grip on loose dirt and gravel, springs and dampers that raise and soften the suspension to maintain stability on the most sever off-road terrain, and rally transmissions that feature shorter gear ratios more suited to the quick accelerating nature of rally racing. I think these cross-game upgrades are a game-changer for Horizon – they allow you to upgrade any car you own into a dirt-eating machine for use in the Rally Expansion Pack stages."

Rally Calls
"It’s important for players to heed the warnings and instructions from their navigator," says Fulton. "Ignore a camber warning, for example, and you might find yourself off track completely." One examples a of rally call: "One hundred, easy right, into medium left. Care bumps." Translation: there's a right-hand corner 100 yards ahead you don't have to slow down much for, but it blends into a medium left turn that gets bumpy.

Online Features
It sounds like everyone should be happy in the online department: "We’ll have a new set of rally-themed Rivals events for players to explore, with new Rivals events being added each month," Fulton explains. "In addition, we’ll have two new rally-centric online playlists, one for rally beginners, and one for veterans who know their way around a rally stage."

Finally, Fulton sums up how the rally experience changes Forza Horizon in one sentence: "Rally driving has this strange and thrilling duality that makes the sport unique – you’re constantly focused on what’s happening right now in the car, while simultaneously being mindful of what’s coming next…even if you can’t see it."

I hope you can revert the rally cars to factory. Only because I want to be able to drive a replica of my real car in game

Have to yell this but LANICA 037 LANCIA 037 WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This rally expansion looks to be fun and look foward to new cars and upgrades. I wonder what other expansions will be. I would like to see a drag racing expansion with a drag stip with new cars and upgrades specific to drag racing like this rally expansion did. I'm not a drifter but maybe they will do a drifting expansion one as well with some new import cars and a vince vaughan, I mean Vaughn Gitten Jr. ;) mustang.

Will you be able to make rally cars out of convertables?! like the Ferrari 458 Spyder! can you imagine that!:dopey:
