Red Bull Racing and F1 in GT5?

Hmmm... I remember reading a Twitter Q&A from Honda with Kaz. There someone asked him about F1 cars and his response was that Bernie Ecclestone wouldn't allow it. With Codemasters having the 2010-&-on license, I doubt we'll see new F1 cars in the game, but who knows about the older ones. Next best thing, perhaps, would be to have GP2 cars. At least I'll be able to get my open-wheel-racing fix.

The 2004 cars also had V10 engines. The cars definately aren't quicker, but they are catching up the 2004 cars and maybe next season we might be seeing times which are matching the records set back then.

The 3.0L V10s of 2004 were topping 20,000 rpm with a new engine for each race but now they're 2.4L V8s restricted to 18,000 and have to last several races.

The V10s never reached 20,000rpm in a car - possibly on the dyno, though. The highest official revs were 19,300 in 2003.

But F1 cars from 2009 and before are very likely to come. (Iracing has the 2009 williams FW31, although Codemasters holds the 2009 license) And there's a new race category now, "Formula".

The remainder of GT Mode retains all the old favourites – licences, dealerships, tuning shop, used cars and five different levels of series (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Professional and Extreme) with the five different types of cars (Kart, Production, Rally, Race and Formula).

I've no doubt GT5 will have a selection of F1 cars. But how many, and from which eras?

Having just a Ferrari and a Red Bull for the modern cars would not be very good. We need at least 4-5 different models from the last decade.

hehehe
it was me who asked about the possiblity of including F1 cars from another time frame... i hope bernie doesn't have the rights on all eras of F1...:yuck:

Thats kinda impossible since all of them aren't racing anymore. Only the 2009 and 2010 license are what he currently holds, which is why the Williams hasn't been released on iRacing yet.

it's sure possible to license all cars separetely but i still sense that the FIA may have sold the rights retroactively because Grand Prix Legends doesn't have the real name of the teams, even the ones that doesn't exist anymore...

Interesting. I was under the impression that the Williams F1 in iRacing contradicted the licensing arrangements, so i'd thought they had changed.

But if that's true, then iRacing won't be able to release the car until after the 2010 season is officially over. Bernie only holds the rights to the current and previous seasons cars. It ties in with the rules forbidding teams from sharing technical data (Apart from data shared with Engine supplier and customer teams etc.), so teams like Red Bull couldn't hand last years car to Torro Rosso on a plate.

Very wicked. Its like an LMP/F1 car all at once.

So with this car, the answer to one of the OP's questions:

No F1 car from Red Bull Racing, only a fictional car just like the Citroen and PD collaboration.

We don't know that yet, there is much more than just the X-1 from Red Bull, note that we also get Hangar-7, for example. An F1 car (pre-2010) is still in with a chance. At the very least the 2005-2008 RBR F1 cars are possible.

We are also getting Sebastian Vettel, and Sebastian Loeb as voices and instructors in the game. I think we will see alot from Red Bull actually. Whether it's F1 cars, DTM, we'll see.

20 seconds faster than an f1 car round suzuka? I wont be supprised if this could do the ring in 3.5 mins.

I was thinking the same thing, based on the F1 time in GT4 of about 4:39. Though that was with extra power and less weight, maybe 3:30 is pushing it.

I wonder if the X1 has actually been built

Wouldn't think so. They seem to only mention it being on GT5 so I don't think we'll see something like the simutanious unvieling of the GT by Citroen in both the game and in the real world. One can certainly dream though.

But is this real or ingame? I suppose it's real..

No its not.

Yes, it is.

It is. End of discussion. If you can't tell it's in-game, then we can't really help you.

As Scotracer mentioned, this is not true. The 3.0L V10s certainly never topped 20,000 rpm in race conditions. 19,300 rpm was the highest recorded during a weekend, but certainly not the norm. Most were in the mid-high 18,000 rpm range.

However, prior to the 18,000 rpm (and 19,000 rpm limit before that), the Cosworth 2.4L V8s were consistently exceeding 20,000 rpm in pre-season dyno testing in 2006.

I really hope that they have the 2007 or 2008 cars instead of the 2009 or 2010 ones. Ever since the regulations changes for 2009, the cars have looked hideous. Those tiny rear wings and huge, ugly front wings are just awful.

Of course, I'd prefer to drive an MP4-4 over anything made in the last 20 years.

I think that picture is a hint that the Red Bull 09 or 10 car is going to be in most probably 09 if any real red bull is going to be in, I would like to see Jenson Buttons Brawn and Hamiltons 2008 Mclaren

Assuming you're reffering to the picture of the car covered by sheet, its not the RB5 or the RB6, its the X1.
