In the video, Vettel is saying "usually reach around 400km/h by the end of the straightaway".
What other car can reach that speed, but a F1? (well, the Veyron, but why would Vettel be taking about is?)
My opinion is, If a F1 car is being talked about, for sure it will be in the game.

Probably a Le Mans Prototype. ;)

400 kph = 248.56 mph
All F1 car is setup for grip, the fastest they go is about 220 mph at Monza.
Vettel wasn't talking about F1 car for sure.

400km/h is optimistically fast for an F1 car, even at Monza a car would struggle to hit 360kph, especially with today's V8 engines with a 18,000 rpm limit.

Of course, perhaps he is rounding up, and lets not forget that F1 cars are capable of reaching that speed, it's just they would never achieve that on a track unless it was something like La Sarthe. Why Vettel would be talking about an f1 car round La Sarthe though...

The PD F1 car was more based off of the old 90's F1 cars, mid to late 90's. It has a 3 litre V12, with slick tires, fronts much smaller then the rears.

He was reffering to the one on GT4, the Formula GT.

The shot at the end of the E3 2010 trailer seems to show the nose of the 09' or 10' RB F1 car in the oven. You can tell because of those unique side blades on the top of the nose, which you can clearly see.

A little bit off topic. I was thinking the PD Formula car looks more like an IRL car and since they are a spec series it would be easy to just make it pretty identical to it and with livery editor in GT5 we have an instant IRL series going.

If I'm not mistaken, it's actually based on the Formula Nippon cars.

Nope. I doesn't have the Batmobile style front wing, and has a 3.0L V12. And, it's much larger.

Not the engine, but the design.
I also wrote "based on", or "inspired" and that "Batmobile" wing wasn't on every Formula Nippon car in history. I don't know any F1 car that looks like the Formula GT either.

EDIT: I should've added "loosely based on..."

Wasn't there an article on Kaz saying that there's a possibility of getting more F1 cars in GT5? And didn't he also say he doesn't think bernie wouldn't mind if there were? That's my knowledge.

Nippon cars never looked anything like the Formula GT. It's clearly based on 2004 spec F1 cars (appearance wise), except its front nose is noticeably different likely due to creativity by PD and substituting their own design. Plus a lot of cars in F1 differ at the front with the nose/wing.

If anyone has GT PSP and owns the GT F1 car, it tells in the description that it is based upon past F1 cars. "Before restriction xyz was placed on them"

I would type it all, except I did not buy it, just read the description.

Edit: Randomly watching the E3 trailer and he says, "200 kph". Not 400.

Actually, yes they kind of did.

*note: not saying that Formula GT are based on FN, but top-spec single seaters looked like that circa 2004

That looks nothing like the Formula GT. Much shorter, stubbier, more flat and bland looking. Big difference.

At the end of the trailer, there's a F1 chassis in the autoclave. Maybe that's a hint for a new Formula GT specially designed for GT5? Not saying that they making a real car out of it, just that Adrian Newey is helping PD design the car in game.

Yea I kind of wondered about that, too. Also, it lead to this thought...

What if we can all design a F1 car?

Not...getting....hopes....up.... :nervous:

No, because there are obvious differences - no winglets for a start. The sidepods and airbox are a lot smaller, no intricate front wing endplates, the aerodynamics are just generally less refined.
That Formula Nippon looks more like a late-90s F1 car.

Its pretty obvious the FGT was based on 2004/5 F1 cars.

Well, Significantly reduce the aero, add a bit of ballast, and introduce a rev-limiter, and it would be make for a pretty good indycar.

In that case, I hope alba is going to make liveries for the FGTs. An Audi livery, a Nissan/Nismo livery, a Porsche livery - hopefully that's possible. Personally I'd love it if someone made a fantasy Nissan/Nismo livery for the FGT.

That's new to me, interesting.
It will be either a RBR F1, or something unique, just created for the game.
