Unveiled in the Jerez pitlane this morning:

Second best looking nose so far, behind Mercedes.

Edit: More.

There is an opening under the nose and I'm intrigued by the rear... No monkey seat, curved wing pylon, minimal bodywork.

That's the best of the anteater noses. But Mercedes and Ferrari's are better.

Although the RB10 does have the best wheels this year.

It's a very elegant looking car, it even looks faster than its rivals. I certainly hope not though! There's some very interesting bits to this car, especially the front end with the intake on the underside of the nose and another on the top. Even the "finger" nose has some complexities to it:

That is a pretty damn good looking car, in my opinion. The RB10 and The F14T are my favorites so far, with the MP4-29 in a very close third place.

Really interesting. If I didn't know any better I'd think that was some crazy scanning device, radar, or camera xD.

RBR always seems to throw in something funky like that in the nose area, slots and such. It could either be some form of air agitator for some weird purpose, a pattern generator for cooling or air rerouting, or just some sort of data acquisition tool I'm making a big deal out of nothing for that'll just be gone at Melbourne.

I'm unimpressed. It looks like an RB9 with a 2014 nose. It's nice, but I'm more interested in some of the other designs that have tried new things.

That's (painting the front end black) a pretty clever and effective way to make the nose extension more subtle, less distinctive and eye-catching (can't find a single word to describe it).

This and the Mercedes W05 are my favourites so far, followed by the Ferrari F14T. The rest (of all cars revealed so far) have all got their bodywork ruined by the protruding anteater noses IMO. :yuck:

I like it. A lot sleeker than last year's car without the stepped nose, though the midnight purple effect is a bit much depending on the lighting. The nose is more intriguing than straight-up ugly which I'm somewhat thankful for.

I'll agree that this and the W05 are easier on the eyes than the others we've seen so far.

Why change something that Works so nicely?
Because the regulations demand it. Low noses aren't the only things that have changed - front wings are narrower, the exhaust outlet is positioned to make blown diffusers difficult (if not impossible) to achieve, and the rear beam wing is gone. The new engine regulations make cooling a priority, demanding changes to the sidepods.

The aero changes apart from the front wing and the rear wing, the other Differences are subtle (the FIAT had his side pods unchanged to the naked eye) and the obligation of a lower nose for the crash tests originated some clever solutions (take Lotus as am example) but they kept the "same" nose because it worked.

Looks like a camera to me and it probably is if you guys look they don't have the two front bars like everyone else and it's completely smooth.

I wouldn't think it's a camera as there's no lense visible there. One idea being thrown around is that it leads towards the duct on the top of the nose cone. The duct on the underside is probably for driver cooling, as has been seen on a few cars over the last couple of years.

Look closer, it's not painted, just bare carbon fiber.

So thats what that little bit is for...

You mean the front carbon thing in the nose? Are camera wings supposed to be mandatory on booth sides near front suspensions?

Yes, they were told to be moved further back on the nose, and RBR don't have any, thus that inner piece on the nose is probably a rotating camera.

What ducting to cool drivers in that past couple years? The only ducting was for inner working aero that was directed toward the rear for better stability.

I'm actually impressed with this, its like a beak. Best looking one I've seen far.

Clever painting the nose grey (leaving the CF bare), all the teams should do that because against tarmac your hardly going to see the uglyness!

The bodywork looks remarkable simplistic, not many crazy shapes and winglets going on.

Best of the lot so far to me, but I have a question. Why hasn't the FIA taken a look at the full wings yet? I mean you look at these, and the Caterham is another noticeable one, and there are more blades on the wings than are in a jet engine. Would it be horrible to go back to single blade wings?

No, it would not be. It would certainly make the cars harder to drive because there would be less downforce. But the teams are unlikely to agree to it, because the more downforce they have, the faster they can go.

To be fair, they had easily the best car last season. Why would they drastically change it? The regulation changes mainly involve the internals.

At some angles, the edge of the nose makes me think of the edge of a pencil.

Not necessarily a bad thing, compared to the squishy-looking stick on most of the other cars. Second best-looking car for me, right behind the F1 W05.

I agree. I imagine if they paint that part, with a streak of light, it will be as unpleasant to look at as with the other cars.

Obvious enough, but it still doesn't explain why it's shaped like that rather than it being just a hole like on every other car.
