Trophies aren't in the question here, it's the fact that you just can't be -0.1 off 2nd place while using AT and a pad.

Ahhh, that makes perfectly good sense, thanks!

While this is in no way suggesting this person cheated or not, it is important to know that even though it might look odd to see someone who has several trophies time stamped with the exact same date and time, there can be a legitimate explanation for this - as it has happened with me before.

I was at a friend's house and we got to talking about GT5, and he was telling me he has been trying to find the Pagani Zonda C12S in the UCD and it never shows up, so I told him I could simply send him one from my account. I added my account to his PS3, used the PS+ online game save option to download my game save. When I started up GT5 on his PS3, all the trophies I had unlocked before on my PS3 then got unlocked again. Had I synched my trophies from his PS3 those trophies would all show up as getting unlocked on the exact same date and time.

It is unlikely, but all I am saying is there can be a legitimate explanation regarding trophies with identical time stamping.

Look at the date I posted, why the year 0001? Also a person playing with a pad and no replay with a car that puts pad users at a disadvantage makes it even more suspect.

Anyway ran this event for the first time today, did a time of 1:04.397. I think I have enough speed to do a sub 4 lap, first sector is usually quite good around the low 26.9, haven't had much experience with the 2nd and 3rd sector so I know I can gain quite a lot of time there. Only done a few valid laps so far, less than 10 for sure. Quite fun to drive this car again, was surprised I didn't need to adjust to it like I did when I did the original Vettel challenge.

Make sure you did something else to trigger a save, and not just quit the game immediately, or you'll have to do it still another time. :ouch:

I did mention it could be setup and also maybe SRF as I did a sighter lap before going to the event and thought maximum would be high 12s on Sports Hards let alone on Comfot Softs in the 9s. He did say he was faster than you since getting a wheel or something like that, is that true? I think he was talking some crap mixed up with maybe some selective facts, maybe because it was at night time and just come out of a bar / restaurant. It is gutting in that I'm a F1 fan and could have spoken to David and Martin in person if I did win. There were no GT Academy finalists, well apart from Maz at the event but he was not competing. I did get to speak to Legard and also get something signed by DC so happy with that.

The boards weren't as competitive due to it getting reset. The Japaense region was competitive though due to a prize and the first place lap globally by EDDSKILL was a phenomenal lap.

I will give this ago today, don't expect to beat you as you are the X2010 master on the DS3 and very fast with the wheel.

I don't think anybody I race is faster than me in the same car same setup especially on hot lap pace (Without seeming to brag, of course thats just the people I race with to. Although I know Nurd, DeMiSe and Ghost all whom I race with are very very quick drivers). Although I would never say anyone is unbeatable I know many people can beat me :), so I just take it as it comes. Usually when I race online it's just for fun I don't take it seriously and I hardly ever overtake aggressively so perhaps maybe over confidence there by Nurd a bit although hopefully another GT Academy will appear and we can test true speed :P, hopefully can race you some time Saidur :D always good to race new people :)!

Hehe nice to be known as the master of the x2010 on the ds3 although I dont know whether I'd be any good anymore on a pad I've not used it in ages lol. I saw Edds lap, saw his status to was a good lap and he seemed proud of it which is always good something I do alot!

I've found that I do better in 90 minute sessions as I spend the first half getting used to the car again. 1:04.467 with DS3 now, I hope that will keep me in the top 250 as I don't think I can improve much myself.

I hadn't touched an X2010 in so long, it took me a good hour just to keep it on the track for a clean, non-red lap. :D

Then, another 1/2 hour to get a gold lap. This car can be a handful with a DS3 and I've spent so little time in it and it shows. ;)

Too easy but meh ...
Just after I completed it hit me that I had to up my day bonus to 200% and then do it. Some money lost ...
Meh.

Nice.

I can't beat my 1.04.9 :yuck: having lots of problems just putting the whole lap together.

Do you take the first Degner flat out or do lift a little and try to get a better speed through Degner 2? 'Cause I've been taking the first one flat out but it gets me into trouble about 70% of the time which is frustrating. I was wondering whether it was quicker to sacrifice the first corner to make a better second one..

Ran this last night at 150% to bring my creds up to exactly 20 mill. Four red laps followed by a 1:15.xx. I then promptly parked the X2010 in the garage and threw the keys into the deepest lake I could find. Hopefully it's a while until I need to drive that again.

It wasn't your X2010 you were driving, it was the one provided by the nice folks at Suzuka running the time trial. :)

I parked mine pretty quickly after getting it, too. I played with it at High Speed Ring, just to see. Turn 1 at 270 is pretty cool!

I better get some diving gear on then before they realise... :scared:

That's interesting actually as I didn't use the gift one but the one I already in my garage with a higher PP.

Except you didn't use it. That's what I'm saying. You could have had a Daihatsu as your current car in your garage, and you still get an X2010 at the Suzuka event.

Kind of like the Missions in GT4. They provide the car with their settings and tires.

Ah OK, gotcha. Didn't notice because I always had an X2010 selected. 👍

as cool as it is to take corners at 200+... I can't stand driving that thing!!
It took me about 30 laps to finally get a valid lap... and it just happend to be fast enough for the gold (it was still 1:20something).
As soon as I saw the white lap time, I promptly crashed it into the wall, and lit it on fire (if only I could...)

then I made a bed of money out of the 10 million and slept very comfortably :)

I must admit I thought I was fairly decent (although far from good) at GT5, that is, until I got my hands on this unyielding beast. Unfortunately, I only have a DS3 controller, and I found it incredibly hard to keep the car on track. So far, I've just been using stock settings on ABS, traction control, and the like. I've finally gotten down to a silver medal time, but I keep going far too slow to reach gold. I think I'm too cautious going into and exiting the corners (I haven't learned to trust the X2010) . . . or I just suck :P. Anyway, do those of you with controllers who do know how to handle the car have any tips. My guess is just to lay down as many laps until I get a feel for it, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

After 3 failed starts my first clean lap was gold somewhere in the 1.:08 range iirc.
Havent driven the x1 since bronzing the challenges back in spring, 2.0 update and the first thing i did with my pedals inverted. Three tries in a row i invalidated my lap before even getting to the starting line....dope ;) then it clicked and golded first lap out.

Originally I was running Degner 1 flat out but kept finding myself too wide into Degner 2. Now I lift off to about 50% throttle for a split second while turning in so I don't end up too far out on the kerb. I keep in gear 5 for Degner 1 and go down to gear 2 for Degner 2. Sorry for my bad explanations I'm always useless at explaining.

I did it with a controller, though I do have a wheel, I decided not to set it up that day out of laziness. It was tricky driving it with the DS3 and all I could do was just keep trying and trying, the time isn't actually very hard to beat, I got gold with a very inefficient and ham fisted lap. Try trusting the X2010 a bit more and figure out where you go hard on and where you hold a back a bit to stay on the track.

I'm too poor for a wheel, so I have the standard DS3 controller.

What I had to learn while driving the X2010 comes as follows...
It can go extremely fast around corners (faster than you think!)
It turns very sharply, and seems to return to neutral steering position slowly (likely just because of the speed it goes).

I found I was able to handle the corners a lot better if I used "left foot breaking". Doing this on a DS3 simply means use a different button for acceleration and breaking. For example, I use the right stick for accel, and L2 for breaking. This allows me to accel at 50% throttle, and use the break to slow down, maintaining more control of the car around the corners, then hammer down when you come out of the corner.

My controller steering sensitivity is at default. I almost though about trying to lower it for this car, it turns very quickly. As such, you can turn into the corner later.
Takes practice... too much if you ask me, heh.

Thankfully, the payout makes it worth it

Has anyone completed this after 2.0? Does the logging in bonus multiplier apply to the 5 mil prize?

Edit: Apologies, I've read a post further up the page that suggests that this is the case. If only I'd waited...

Done it in 1.23 something on Logitech™ Driving Force GT. Not the best of time but I'm glad of the £7.5Million squid!

Just got a 1:05.8, and that's where I'm staying. Could've gotten down to .6, but that last chicane has always been a trouble spot for me.

1:11.8, first time I've played GT5 in 2 months, achieved on first lap with DS3.

So my first GT5 experience for 2 months was logging on, claiming my free X2010, doing 1 lap, making 5m credits and logging off again...

After about 10 tries I finally got all the way around the track. This is the first time I've ever driven the thing and I used a normal sixaxis pad. 1:20 and I'm 10,000,000 cr. richer.:)

Unless you're going for the leaderboard (anyone who puts themselves through that in this car needs to see a shrink, imo. ;) ) this event is pointless as far as I'm concerned. They may as well have just given everyone the car & money.

Got down to a 1:03.553 (I think) which was good enough for 9th when I did it but not sure where I am now.

Here is the video of the lap.
