All I can say about this game so far is that it reminds me of Zelda BOTW which for me is the finest open world game ever created. Not a fan of these types of games since the world always seem so pointless and boring after the main campaign (Spiderman, Horizon, GTA) but the world feels so goddamn real.

All these comments are tempting me.:p

Can I just ask what formats you are all getting these amazing graphics on as they don't seem to be coming across in trailers or videos. Xbox or PS4 👍 X or Pro?

PS4Pro Torque. Just buy it. You won't regret it. It's so gorgeous. Every step you take and look around in the nature is another screenshot which could be a painting on the wall. Storyline is "RPG-ish" and easy going. It's getting better and better. And that wildlife, grass, trees, foodsteps in the snow etc etc. Apologies for being over enthusiastic again ;)

Now my son is playing RDR2 and I was sent away downstairs back to my laptop...

I have a regular PS4 and I still think the graphics are absolutely stunning.

The wanted system has been really frustrating for me. Killing a stranger and taking their money can lead to an endless chain of having to kill other strangers to prevent anyone from reporting it to the law. Sometimes I'll kill a stranger, be riding down the road, far away from the body, and all of a sudden someone finds the body that I left in the middle of the road, but how they can pair that up with me when they never saw me commit the crime, when I'm a mile down the road, I don't get it (But, it is really cool that bodies seem to take forever to despawn). It actually screwed me over once. There was an impromptu mission with one of the members of the gang that fired when I got near the camp, but since a stranger found a dead body from miles away, it caused the mission to end. But if you ride far enough away, you won't actually be wanted since it'll just end after the witness stage. Also, the bandana doesn't really seem to hide his identity, people seem to know exactly who is committing the crime.

I am trying the same Zelda botw approach in this game. Zelda only really opened up after you start exploring the world and doing some sidemissions. Like Zelda it takes 10-20 hours to get used to the mechanics of the game. I am going to try to look for treasures and other loot, before concentrating on the main story. I like to be well prepared with weapons, food etc.

As soon as the game mentioned wearing the correct type of clothing in each environment it really did make me think of BOTW

You have to keep changing your clothes and appearence so that it is more difficult for them to identify you. You can also buy a full face mask from a fence. I am still getting to grips with it all but I am starting to think the harsh wanted system is just a deterrent to being a criminal

Those outfits arent cheap though. I am going to try and accumilate 3-4k before going on a shopping spree for cosmetical upgrades for clothes and weapons.

There's a big black horse hanging about the camp (it looks like it could be the pre-order bonus freebie war horse thingy) but I can't do anything with it. It kicked me once, but other than that it doesn't seem like it should be there.

And I've lost my hat.

Going to the Saloon with Lenny is the greatest mission of all time!👍

Are you still in the early stages of the game? If it's the one I'm thinking of, you use it in a mission.

And I've lost my hat.

I lose my hat every 5 minutes, it seems like.

Lots of wild horses around to catch. Once I complete the story, I'll go do those kinds of things.

Already killed the bear and the cougar...

If you have Arthur wear the bulldogger hat, and only shave the chops, he will soon begin to appear similar to David Allan Coe.

Isnt that the one you sell at the stable? Funniest encounter I had till now, was a guy dying, changing a horseshoe getting kicked by his own horse.

You can get the hat back at camp.

I’m always getting into gunfights with people, when that’s not really my intention. I either accidentally greet someone with my gun in my hand, or bump into them in my horse, something silly. I’m pretty chill about it, until they start running their mouth. Plus that antagonize button is just too much fun.

Yesterday I was riding through some fields, and I seen a sheep herder with a bunch of sheep. I rode over to greet him on my horse, and I accidentally ran over a few of his sheep and killed them. He flips out and starts shooting, so I had to kill him. Also, what usually starts with me just looting someone, ends up in me killing multiple people, to keep them from reporting me to the law, you know what they say about snitches.....

Still getting used to the controls...I have shot several people I intended to just talk to. Was intending to set myself up with a 'good guy' reputation, I've practically shot everyone I've come in to contact with due to hitting the wrong button :banghead:

I'm a little surprised with the hype of this game seeing that more recent generations of gamers have no patience and need instant gratification (broad stroke!). But, the game has amazing detail, many intertwined elements, and awesome graphics and animations.

What are you using to kill them? I bought a rifle and have built a few different bullets for it but everytime I get in a fire fight with someone they seem very weak. I'm afraid the bear is not going to be affected by it lol. Also, how do you get perfect small animal pelts? The varmin rifle seems too much with headshots, or maybe not good enough headshot.. but I haven't made the arrow for small game either..

I don't think you need a new outfit per se. Just remove your jacket or pick up a different hat from an enemy or get a haircut. You never lose items as they always go back to your horse inventory or chest at the camp.
I had a random encounter where a guy had been poisoned. I could either give him medicine or suck the poison out (from his upper thigh , I ain't falling for that one). I gave him the medicine. A few days later I say him in the local town, he offered me one free purchase from the general store so I got a $120 outfit.

I ran into the same thing, I haven't been back into town since than though so I haven't ran into him again. I like that NPC's feel like actual characters instead of just space fillers like most games.

I got a Schofield Revolver for free. What a generous fellow snake bite guy is.

I’m wondering just how generous he is if you suck the venom out of his thigh?

It was the upper thigh wasn’t it?
;)

I think you get sick and apparently it is not easy to cure. Go to the Arthur menu and it shows a toxicity level.

I wanted to finish AC Odyssey before I get RDR2 but after reading some of those comments here, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and buy the darn thing.
