... And if you own a home, those are a lot of work to keep up too....

I hear you with that one, there are times where it feels like a second full time job.... especially if you have 2 under 5's leaving a trail of destruction everywhere they go

By the time I get everyone settled of a night time it's usually like 9pm before I even get to switch on my PS (or PC), I play for an hour then start getting sleepy and take myself off to bed....Loading up on energy drinks today so hopefully I can last til at least 11pm

Picked up my pre-order from EB games. Now the long wait begins.

Apparently the game wasn't actually installed on my XB1 like I thought it was so it's downloading now. I would be more upset if it wasn't for the fact I likely won't get to play it until Saturday evening anyways. :grumpy:

Two hours, eh? I'll be picking up my copy from Walmart at midnight, so I might start on it at 2:30ish and stay up late. :)

Actually, just short of an hour later and its almost there. (Thank goodness ) You can still stay up late though .:)👍

Don’t forget the day 1 patch.

This will be a problem for me with no cable internet.
I’ll have to arrange a time with my Bro & make use of his unlimited broadband

:ouch:

Remember the days when you bought a game and it worked straight away. No waiting for it to install or anything? Those were the days.
It's good. It's very very good. Very very very good!

After a couple of hours of playing. I do concur.

I’ve had the game installed since Saturday/Sunday, and have spent the week being teased by the clock that has the countdown to release. With ~1 hour to go, I had to go to sleep:censored:
Now there’s just ~ 8 hours of work left until I’ll be home. My PS4 is on standby, and should have the day one patch downloaded and installed along with the extras and a fully charged DS4 ready to play.

Work has rarely been this slow and boring

Er, the days of blowing in NES cartridges and crossing your fingers to get past a blinking screen, or swapping twelve 3.5" floppy disks to install a single game? Or installing a massive 700MB from one of the early CD-ROM drives after considering what to delete to make room on your 2GB hard drive, for the four-disc PC version of FFVII? :p

This was finally the breaking point for my PS4's 500GB drive, forcing me to delete a couple things. I also remember installing the PC version of GTAIII from two CDs. Seems like nothing has changed, the numbers are just larger. ;)

My XBox isn't normally set to auto-update but it has been for the last couple of weeks... and the pre-order "stub" grew to 90Gb in that time, 12:00 I booted up and it worked :D

Well my copy has arrived :D ....Just have 9 long hours of work to get through before I can even plug it in .

Only 9 Hours!!!:lol: My wife is picking the game up for me this morning but she won't be home till late, then we're going out tonight and have a very full weekend. So I'll finally get to play on Monday... that's if nothing else comes up before then :nervous::scared::crazy:
I don't even own a PS4 or Xbone. I'll have to wait for an announcement, and if that comes then I'll have to wait six months to a year for the PC version to arrive.

There's always someone worse off. :D

Getting this one today. :) Looks amazing! And I didn't play GTAV for too long. It came at a time where I didn't have the time to play such a long game but this one looks more relaxed and enjoyable, especially with all the nature, landscapes and open space.

The preload worked perfectly. I came home and could play immediately. I finished the first chapter and entered valentine in my first session.

I am a bit confused how to get the pre order and special edition bonuses? Does anyone know?

Bought the game, went home, waited for the installation of Disc 1, put Disc 2 in, left home to do a few things and now I'll go back home to play the game. :)

Really stoked to dive in!

Had to delete Spider Man, TLOUs R, The Witness, Shadow of the Colossus and tones of media files. ^^

Yeah, my 500GB HHD never felt so small. GTSport already occupies 97GB and then I have Dark Souls and BB installed because I like to play them to chill out. ^^

Initial thoughts on it?

Its a very beautifull game. The first chapter is more of a tutorial, so really cant say anything usefull yet about gameplay. My initial impressions:

- travelling is still boring in the first chapter
- A lot of NPC's with backstory and character development (great for single players)
- much more realistic tone so it feels more like a western simulator (like westworld) then a "game".
- departure from GTA gameplay

I decided early on I will try to approach the game like I played Zelda Botw by focusing less on the missions and more on exploring, upgrading and perhaps some hunting. I also probably need to decide if im going to be a good or a bad guy. I am probably going to try to be honorable to get 50% discount at shops.

Will give more impressions when I get more of an insight in the gameplay.

The outfit you can get it at the camp. The guns you will find them at any gun shop. For the horses you need to unlock the stables (one of the main missions). Most if not all the things will unlock once you begin the second chapter.

That first mission where you find the horse in the barn and you pat and lead it out - the 'pat' command was not working for me whatsoever...i spent nearly 2 hours trying to get it to work - i restarted the checkpoint & even started a new game. Then suddenly out of the blue it worked!

And even now i cant 'pat' a horse - he just seems to skip the animation?! Is this a weird glitch or am i missing something really obvious haha.

Anyway, great game - the world is astounding...espeically when you come down from the snow and into the first camp.

Perhaps you need to postion yourself correctly. It worked with me.

Apparently it has a 'colourblind' option... Finally the boot of oppression is being lifted from my people!

Anyhow, seemingly to spite those earlier posts, my plan to buy second hand has been scuppered by a generous surprise from the missus! I now own RDR2! Maybe if I'd told her I bought Dakar 2018 last week to tide me over until I could get RDR2 second hand she'd have saved herself, and therefore by extension, me, fifty quid!

If I was in your shoes ACC and FH4 would more than be enough to fill in the time for me. 2 games that I can possibly never get :(.

;):sly::lol:

Just on another note, I've been trying to install the game in my spare time and been getting multiple hang-ups, and then stuck for over an hour with 1 second remaining. So I've now deleted everything and started again. I did a bit of research and it seems there's an issue for both XBox and PS4 owners trying to install from disc on to external hard drives (as I was on with my PS4 external), but it doesn't happen to everyone :odd:. Everything seems to be going much smoother so far (using the internal) :scared: but luckily I've got till Monday to get it sorted.

Edit: Fresh install on the internal hard drive worked :D

I think i stood in every position - in fact the one time it worked i was stood near the rear of the horse...when you pat the neck. I still cant pat it now in the game - its a weird one.

Oh I’m extremely jealous. My other half will spoil me with anything else, but when it comes to games she just won’t

Fair point.👍

A majority of my gaming experience has been with consoles. Can't even begin to imagine doing any of that. Four discs!?

Another very fair point.

I’m enjoying the game so far, I’ve played about 4 hours.Arthurs cool, he’s no John Marston though, but that’s to be expected.

I really wish they would of left out all this eating, feeding your horse, stamina and health core silliness, that’s my only complaint really. It’s not terrible, but it’s one of those things that I think keep thinking that the game would a lot more enjoyable for me. without having to deal with any of that nonsense.

I managed to get a little time in tonight and did the first few missions, one thing I noticed right away is that the controls will take some getting used to since I don't play this type of game very often. I should have some proper time to play it tomorrow after work.

Also, the only time I've died so far is because I rode right off a cliff while messing with the camera.

You can’t fly. Neither can your horse. You will both die
