I havent had any connection issues with this game but I am getting bored of it already. Hopefully the 6 co-op missions will extend some replay value. No matter what I am trading this in when Crackdown 2 comes out in July.

Awesome game, definitely contender for GOTY. I finished the Story mode 2-days ago and am at 86+% done.

Last night i was in a private free-roam with some friends, we were going for the achievement of having 2 or more players in a posse with 7500+ Bounty on us, i got up to 8655, and my friend was in the 5600+ range when my game froze, talk about frustrating. Didn't go back to do it again, maybe another day. I know there's a lot going on it's the 2nd-3rd time i had the game freeze on me. Besides that overall it's a great game. They should find a better spawn system in Free-Roam, when you're playing Public, and they spawn you out in the open and there are 5 guys around you with sniper/rifles, you don't live very long or get to move much....

looking forward to the co-op content that is supposed to be coming out.

I palyed like 20 hours and am still with the irish (beginning no?) . It's just so much fun riding around , hunting criminals and animals.

You know the trophies where you need to do 20 missions with one horse (not changing not dying), well i was 3 missions away, and than in rio bravo came a cougar claw and than i had a dead horse to skin.
I was stunned for 10 min. Didn't want to believe it. Tryed directly to shut down and restart. No change. So angry.

But this is probably one of the 5 best games this year.
To soon to call it GOTY. Still a lot of contestant for this title
Mafia2,GT5, Fallout, dead rising 2, i am alive, the last guardian, ....

I wouldnt call it GOTY especially when you have titles like Mass Effect 2 and FF13 that I consider GOTY 2010. Plus we still have Crackdown 2, Halo Reach, Fallout New Vegas, and Fable 3 all possibly coming this year. I dont see RDR as a GOTY contender at all. But thats just my opinion.

I do, than again there seems to be 4-5 titles a year that take that title so it's really not a very big deal.

The trophy actually only states "without changing horse at a hitching post", so if your horse dies you should be able to whistle for it and still get the trophy :)

Didn't work that way for me:ouch:

Emphasis on the "should" :p I'm sure I lost my horse more than once when doing the missions but I still got the trophy.

I had mine get killed by a cougar once and another death came from me sliding down a cliff with the horse as my surfboard :) And I have finished the game with no achievement, and I never used the hitch once.

True the year is only half over so there's still time for some great games to come around. I do think it should be in the running though. I was pleasantly surprised by the game as i didn't know what to expect.

Does anyone know if you go through playing as a badass compared to being a good guy if there is a different outcome or consequences? This first play through i tried to be as good as possible, capturing bounties/thieves instead of killing them, and dis-arming in a Duel instead of taking the guys head off?

Wanted to do a 2nd play through killing everything in sight. :dopey:👍

The story line stays the same no matter what you do.

Lets not forget about the other 2 systems out there :grumpy:

Anyway I'm liking RDR more than GTA4. And that one got a 10 from some gaming media outlets.

I havent played much at all on the PS3 which is the only other console I own besides the 360 and PC. But I really do want to rent Uncharted 2 sometime in the near future. I played the demo and liked it. Plus back when I had my first PS3 I rented Uncharted and it was an excellent game. I just always find myself going back to the 360.

I played the God Of War 3 demo and it really didnt interrest me that much.

But I do agree I have been having quite a bit more fun with RDR than GTA4. GTA4 was a massive disappointment to me as a GTA fan. Saints Row 2 was everything GTA4 should have been.

You mean God of War 3? The demo was a super early build and has changed in the full game, but i've never played. But I've only play GOW1 for only a few levels. I've only ever played the Uncharted 1 demo. I am not a big fan of action games.

As said the story line stays the same, but people see you in a different way depending on your actions. I have been a pretty stand up guy on my first play through, so being a good guy the lawmen see you as a friendly and the bandits don't like you that much. But if I would have been killing town folk and such the bandits would have seen me as a friend and the lawmen would have given me a hard time. In my game when I went into thieves landing everyone started just shooting at me for no reason at all because I had full honor and fame. In the duel shooting the pistol from their hand only makes you gain honor, it doesn't effect the good/evil of John.

And on a side note, I did the "legendary" hunts last night to finish up all of those challenges and was very let down with those. They were super easy to do, and to find. I had all of the legendary animal hunts done in less than 15 minutes:irked:

There is a contrast between being good/evil in RDR. Although a minor one, in most of the shops across the entire map you will get items for a less price. But in Thieve's landing all of the shops have the same discount. The pro's of being a good guy for me outweigh the cons. It just feels good to me making an outlaws head look like an empty cave. Or the random encounter of the gang hiding behind the stagecoach, while the girl asks you for help? My my how some dynamite makes situations like that so fulfilling :) All in all bad guys suck in RDR. In contrast though in GTA4 how can you not be en evil SOB?

Oh well Tomato tomatto.

I agree, but sometimes I will pull my hd off to make sure it doesn't save somehow and just start killing everyone just like I did in GTA. I have found something that is just funny as hell to me to do though. I put it on fists and then walk up to someone and just hit the right trigger and push them down. Sometimes when you push them down they smash there head into things and all, it amuses me. Or push a horse with someone on it and the horse bucks them off.....haha

Finally, after placing my order over 6 days ago, with their '3 day shipping' I finally got my game. I had some problems that I need to iron out.

Why can't I finish a final $100 match of Five Finger Fillet? I can get past the first three matches OK. But once I get to the final match, I get screwed every time. I lost a lot of money that I gathered from the start. About $400 which I really needed. I once ran out of bullets 'cause I spent too much time hunting and not enough killing bad guys for their bullets.

Is it OK to loot dead bad guys? I'm not losing 'good guy' status or anything?

Is the stallion horse I get from the 'lasso' mission the best horse in the game?

Can I lasso wild horses and tame them and sell them? I've tried to lasso and break a wild horse, while I have the stallion, and I can't do it. When I come off my horse, I get kicked every time.

I don't know where to look for my next mission. I'm trying to find a guy's lost wife but when I get to the mark on the map, I see a blood stain and some bones. It says I got distracted, or something similar, and didn't get there in time despite running my stallion at full speed to get there. So, how can I 'choose' a different mission?

So far, I've got the Mc Ranch, Armadillo and Hennigan's Stead opened up. How do I get the rest opened up? Just go there? Finish more missions?

BTW, this game is making me sick! I just hate the entire move the horse while looking around. Vomit city! :yuck:

Oh, and where's the best place to buy stuff?

In Five Finger Fillet, the best thing to do is watch the opponent and see what's the pattern is, write it down and practice with the controller off until you can get it right.
Yes, you can loot anyone, it won't affect anything but increase your wallet size.
The Kentucky Saddler is the most balanced one (speed & stamina) while the Hungarian Halfbreed have the most stamina, the American Standard have more speed.
No, you can't sell horse. (although you can shoot them and skin them for $)
When you viewing the map, press Square/ X to filter the legends so you can find stuff easier.
Yes, you have to keep doing story mission (ones with letters symbol, not question mark, in order to unlock the whole map.
All shops have the same stuff except a few rare items that you have to get from different shop.

The easiest way to get money for me at least is hunting and selling, i just got the " earn $10,000" trophy, most of which is from hunting and I'm not very far into the Mexico part of the story. Also do the treasure hunts, there are 3 in New Austin and they are fairly easy money, they also are a good way to learn the land.

Anyways, I just got the Bolt Action Rifle, the thing made an Armadillo vanish into thin air.

While I have never used it, I suspect the War Horse is without any doubt the best overall horse:

It's supposed to be one of the fastest horses with the best stamina and health. Unfortunately though, so far it's an exclusive DLC bonus for those that bought the Limited Edition version or for those that pre-ordered the game from Best Buy in the States, or HMV in the UK.

Of the three top tier horse breeds in the game, the American Standardbred is easily the fastest. The Hungarian Half-bred is the strongest, and the Kentucky Saddler has the best stamina.

So a lot will depend on the task at hand.

Can I lasso wild horses and tame them and sell them? I've tried to lasso and break a wild horse, while I have the stallion, and I can't do it. When I come off my horse, I get kicked every time.

You can't sell them, but by capturing them you can save them as your horse by hitching him next a save point. You will then also be able to purchase a deed for that breed of horse so that if you switch horses during the game you can always get it back.

The difficulty of capturing a wild horse will depend on the breed and condition of the horse.

Once you have the horse lassoed, stay on your horse until you are right next to the captured horse. While still holding the rope, jump off your horse and immediately jump onto the captured horse. If you take too long, and it's a strong horse, the captured horse will run before you can get on him, thus knocking you down if you are still holding the rope.

Capturing wild horses is my kids' favorite thing to do!

I never intended to let my kids (6 & 8) play this game due to the M rating, but considering the open world aspect and the many missions and challenges that are totally family safe, my wife and I have been allowing them to play the game (monitored of course), and so far they have been having a blast!

My son especially loves to lasso things, even the bull at McFarlane's ranch. Although he learned his lesson when he lassoed a dog... as it got VERY mad and chased him down and bit him!

So far they have done some of the early missions, as well as some of the challenges, and played horseshoes and poker. (haven't decided yet whether they should play the five finger game as I don't want to give them any ideas, especially my son!) ;)

I have a feeling your kid might hear a few things you dont want them to hear.

A couple nights ago I was just walking with Irish for a mission. Out of nowhere one of the random women said "Awww I just hate seeing a man with a dry C@@#, why dont you come over here honey and let me fix that."
Heather and I both went.
So just a heads up to maybe keep the volume down in that game because after all it is a Rockstar game and rated M for a reason. :scared:

I let my kids play it too with the same watching. I don't have speakers hooked up and I don't let them touch my turtlebeaches so they don't even hear a sound of anything. They just ride the horse all over and wrangle horses like your kids do. I also heard that hooker say, I hate to see a man with a dry C*&) why don't you let me wet that for you bit, I busted out laughing. Hell, If my wife would have said that when she met me I prob would have married her before 4 years of dating, just had our 11 wedding celebration, not bad for only being 28 and having 3 kids huh? I love beating the odds :)

The War Horse is pretty awesome, he's very fast and has huge amounts of stamina. I've changed it for a white one for a while but you keep the 'deed' to the War Horse with the DLC so he can come back at any time.

Here's how he looks in game from a normal viewpoint;

Thanks for the tips, guys. It helped some.

DN, I'm in the same boat as you. My youngest boy wants to play this when I'm done. Now that he's home from school, it's the perfect time for him. And that horse is awesome.

As far as the FFF game, I know what to do. Like I said, I can pass the first three levels with no problem, but the $100 wont let me pass. When you bet $100, the buttons are X,O,X,^,X.[] and repeat.

I made it all the way to Irish mission for the 'gun' and the second race with Dickens. I'm getting tired of these guys. IRL, I wouldn't hesitate to give these guys a bullet each.

Funny thing that happened, I needed 5 wolf kills with a knife and not more than 90 seconds later, five showed up! I killed them all, and five more show up and before I could switch to a gun and get rid of them with Dead Eye, one jumped me and killed me.

If my stallion gets killed, twice now, I just reload the game no matter how far I've gone. So, I'm saving as often as I can.

The game is great, but it's still making me sick. :yuck:

Indeed, I have let my 7 year old niece play also, just riding the horses around and admiring the views (supervised), she has a blast.

Both are towards the end of both strands so you won't have to put up with them for much longer.

Yeah, just found that out. Good.

I just made it to Mexico. Apparently, I was supposed to do missions with Vincente DeSanta. But, I never met him. I went to a small village and bought a room for $250 and there was only gambling.

From there, I headed West to Chuparosa and met up with Landon Ricketts. I did the first mission with him and got the third level of Dead Eye and the Schofield. I want to do the Vincente DeSanta missions next before progressing with the Landon Ricketts.

Where can I meet up with him? I want the rewards those missions give you before moving on with Landon Ricketts missions.
