Remember when GT sport allowed tuning in sport races?

You can tune a lot things on the car in in today's daily race B.

So they allow changeable settings for that but not 3/4? That doesn’t really make sense, honestly.

Going back to OP, yes, that’s when Sport Mode was more competitive/fun.

Love that they brought back tuning! Can't remember the last time I did a daily race but today I raced a bunch!
And it's surprisingly well balanced, last I checked the top 3 of the leaderboards had 3 different cars(911, Xbow, F40)!

No idea why PD choose to cancel the larger Grids :boggled:

I would speculate it has to do with maintaining frame rates and PS4 resources being strained above the grid of 20 they settled on.

Of course I do, the only thing I liked even more were the 24 Car Grids.

Framerate?Only reason i could think of.

PD should just make Race D with tuning allowed, that way everyone is happy

lol, great news about that tuning
I'm not compete in sport mode because I hate that trashy basic setup in every car
I hope they will allow tuning every day in at least 1 of 3 races

or they should at least add half-tuning option (that's mean gearbox + aero + tcs but without suspension)
because that aspects are really easy to do and all people can do that without any problems to set car for their preferences, I know suspension settings would be hard for 95% of population

Yes. It was no fun at all.

People who want to spend hours of tuning and testing of every car, on every track, in every weather condition, then they should play Project Cars 2.
what a ******** talk, lmao

I thought about that too, but then again it’s uncomprehensible why they cut down the grid for race A to only 12 Cars iirc. The last daily race I drove was... I can’t even remember

I remember when you could down tune cars into lower class and completely destroy everyone.

I remember the 24 Superstar race in the first season they brought it in, i started 5. or 6 cannot remember, but at the start it was horrible, the frames dropped so deep that i had diashow, maybe the first 2 had no problem but if i had that problem with a ps4 pro, i dont want to know how bad it was on pos 15-24.... mist have been a crash or freeze

I was very happy to see tuning was available. Hopeful it will continue.
Maybe duplicate A,B,C daily event's three with tuning, three without. Everyone's happy.

Locking out tuning in GTS had me worried about what's coming next, autonomous cars?

Racing car's started minutes after the second car was built tuning cars started as soon as that race ended.
Tuning should stay!

I guess I may have to start reading the tuning section of the forum, never noticed this was an available option yesterday.

Would love if it came back to race c. But that's way too much depth for most players unfortunately, PD are just dumbing down the game without tuning.

Contrary to what some in this thread seem to think, you DON'T need to spend hours and hours tuning when there are tons of setups available here and on youtube for just about any car. But pulling up a setup on your smart phone and copying it into the game is waaaaaay too much work for some people though, let alone reading in-game instructions on what to do.

Some of us actually do enjoy it, and once you get good enough you're not going to be spending that much time tuning a car for a daily race or whatever.

I think what a lot of people do not get about the fun with tuning is improving your favorite car to drive a bit better with some some even minor suspension or gearing tweaks.

If the current flavor of month the car is beating you with turn in and corner entry speed but with the stock set up you just cannot offset that advantage tuning may allow you to level the playing field.

Tweak the suspension to give you a little better corner speed and that touch of extra exit drive out of the corner to now be able to give that flavor of the month car a real race rather than be forced to drive the flavor of the month car to compete.

The only people that can see the negative in that must be those that depend on using an OP car to compete.

Much more fun, much more varied grids and a much better sense of self satisfaction of using what you like to be competitive because your tweaks made it better.

Some people act as if allowing tuning will allow you to turn a N 200 car into a GR1 car performance wise and dominate as a result! Frustrating.

It's just a headache i don't need and as someone said, that's what PCARS2 is for. i am time poor, right now i can login and be racing in minutes. So now, i gotta worry about downforce, gearing, tyres ... and by car by track.

Massive headache that does nothing for the actual racing.

Maybe allow different tyres and downforce but i'd stop there.

No, i fully understand my car will be nicer to drive but so will everyone else's, all we've done is lost time faffing about.

And you can tune your car to another class, I was in a lobby once, GT3 at monza, guys were running F1 lap times. It was just stupid.

That's what lobbies are for no? The entire point of the three daily races, as far as I can tell, is they are aimed squarely at the time poor (likely target market middle aged family men) so they can get racing with a minimum of fuss in a very orderly environment before the wife/kids/job etc gets to them. Adding tuning just hurts that market and defeats the point of SPORT and makes the lobbies near meaningless.

Well yeah, max HP/min weight tends to do that. That's why BoP on is a thing.

Gt has had tuning in their previous versions why eliminate it in this already content poor version? I'm sure there are at least as many if not more players that bought this game that want tuning to continue as there are players that don't want it.
I have Pcars it just doesn't do much for me.

I'm not sure I've ever Fafflied? But tuning is about getting the most from the car and making changes to suit ones driving style and the track your on.
I wouldn't confuse a car tuned to be faster with it being nicer to drive.
Yes you can tune a car to enter a different class. Just as it should be.

Yep, Lobbies are a great way for friends to race each other. That rarely happens in the three dailies. Meaningless? No way You learn alot in lobbies.
Dailies Orderly? Hmmm.
My take on what market Gtsport is targeting are the young enough (in their 20's -30's), clean and fast enough that may have a legit shot at actually getting behind the wheel of a real race car. I like you would be considered a casual driver. And by racing the dailys, Nations, Maufactures cup one maybe screwing this whole sport thing up for some of thoes guys.
It can be tuff to race clean tring to handle some of these untuned cars.

You may enjoy today's daily race B.

We can argue all day about the demographic target but SPORT is designed to allow you to get up and racing fast, in as orderly fashion as possible, and it works. The concept is brilliant.

So in the end there was no tuning last night, just a tyre option, which is great, adds a lot to the experience of race C with a minimum of fuss. I managed to squeeze in two races, finishing 2nd and 3rd doing 6 laps on hards and 4 on mediums.

Many cars drive poorly out of the box, especially the road cars. Tuning, within reason, should be consistently allowed in Sport Mode. If you want an example of good tunes that make cars drivable, yet keep them honest, check out @Jump_Ace's Tuning Garage. (Edit: There are a host of other valuable resources in the Tuning forum. This particular one just happens to be my favorite.)

Those tunes will take a minute or two to implement, not hours, since the hard work has graciously been carried out by someone else. And again, those types of settings won't give anyone an unfair advantage since they keep the car's stock power and weight levels intact.

But what's the point? It just slows you down to get racing, so it drives nicer, drives nicer for everyone, we are back where started except extra steps now.

No, it doesn't. The numbers have already been tested by someone else. All I have to do is plug them in, which takes a minute or two at the most if it's a new tune - hardly a time suck. Here's the other thing: those tunes can be saved, which I keep as my defaults, so they'll take no additional time once they're set up.

Posts like this are why I don't want tuning in Sport mode. I don't want to collect meta tunes for cars and constantly hunt down people in the tuner community just to find the best tunes in order to simply be viable in a race. I know for many people that stuff is fun (I had fun doing in GT6) but I don't have time to collect tunes and race.

I respectfully disagree.

If we must have actual tuning (not just tyre choice and say downforce) then i'd replace race 1 not 2 or 3.

So, they don't tune cars at all in real life racing to get an edge? Interesting.
