Oh, I got yeah! That would be very cool indeed. Just need some more cell power. When can we link two PS3's together for dual-octet processor computing power? :D

Nah, I'm 100% positive it can be done now. Devs need to learn how to code for the Cell and Xenon, plus they should have the idea of how to do it in the first place.

Had my first online play last night with 31 others. I was lost, could not tell one team from the next, had to wait till my crosshair turned to red to tell if i was aiming at an enemy :(. But -10 lag(better than zero) with 32 players was awsome. The augre(?) is realy cool with its built in shild. tHe grande launcher on the default weapon is a bit unbalacned but just like Killzone they should made you fine the nades rather than having them already.

This really get me excited for Killzone2 multiplayer.

At least you don't have to worry about those two retarded AI soldiers following you everywhere, like in the demo. Those guys do nothing but get in my way and get me killed.

In most normal games, you start out only with the rifle, no grenades. You can set it to start with full ammo and grenades, but the typical games (especailly ranked games) are not like that.

Right JR, I didn't play much to realize that. But some games give you 5 weapons to start. CTF brings back memorys of Three Wave Quake CTF back in the day. I'm diggin the online but i cant figure out how to add buddies.

You have to hit select and then go to buddies, hit triangle, and then select add buddy, and you can add them by their PSU (Playstation Username).

I'll give you an invite to our clan, it's from a tekken based site that I'm a member of, but I'm sure you'd be more than welcome :)

Oh yeah single player has gotten much better and difficult. i'm at the part after you get out of the conversion chambers where you are in an all out war where you can not run n gun it.

hahaha, dude that's almost EASY compared to later stages. I'm working my way through hard right now to unlock some more skins, and getting all the intel / skill point. Check out www.myresistance.net

Great site ;)

I'm on my third run now....on hard. The new weapons are great and the replay value is there. There isn't a whole lotta games I've played through twice, much less three times.

Hmm, looks like there's a new patch.

Kotaku
We touched on the Resistance: Fall of Man updates last week, but the full patch is out in the wild, issued late last night. The list of changes is lengthy, but are some very minor. Hit the jump for the full changelist then go grab your update. I'll be back online to kick some ass starting December 28th. See you then. Michael McWhertor

Ranked Games

Map size determined by the number of players in the game
All maps available for ranked games
Score limits for team deathmatch adjusted based on the number of players in a match
Time limits added for all game types that were missing them

General
Various bug fixes and formatting issues
Fixed a rare issue where a player would become invisible to all other players in a match
In Human vs Human or Chimera vs Chimera team games, all players on a team will show up as the same model to help distinguish between the teams.
Added a barrier on Manchester, which was previously left out, to prevent players from leaving the playable area.

Character Sheet
"Return a Flag" ribbon now displays properly. All "Return a Flag" ribbons earned prior to this patch will be restored.
"Multi Kill" ribbon will now be tracked. Unfortunately, no "Multi Kill" ribbons earned before this patch can be restored.
"Target Bomber" ribbon can now be achieved with the frag grenade as well as the hedgehog grenade
You will now receive a system message when you earn a new rank.
A player's rank will not be sometimes misrepresented as lower than it actually is.
Wins/Losses are now displayed on the player stats.
Changed the requirements to earn some of the medals on the character sheet.
We have replaced the Skeleton skin with a new skin, the Mechanic. We've determined that the Skeleton is much smaller and more difficult to see on many levels than any of the other skins. The skins were never meant to give a gameplay advantage, but to offer you the chance to customize your character as you see fit, and we don't want people to be at a disadvantage because they didn't pick any one particular skin. Never fear, the skeleton may make a return at some later date, in some form or other.

Lobby
You can now accept a party invite if you are in a game and the party you are joining is in the same game.
The results screen will now automatically rejoin the game after 30 seconds instead of disconnecting from the game as it previously did.
There is now an option to enabled "Map Vote" for custom games. If this option is enabled, players may press triangle when they are on the results screen to vote on what map they wish to play next. This option is enabled by default.
You can now create a deathmatch game with a time limit as the only end game condition.
Fixed a bug where players joining a game in progress would sometimes be placed on the team that had more players instead of the team with less players.

Voice Chat
Voice chat is now "push-to-talk" by default in team games as well as free-for-all games. The standard button is L3 and it can be remapped. Open mic is active only for squad chat when you choose to join a named squad. In that case you still use the push-to-talk button to broadcast to your entire team. Other places where open mic is active are when observing in a limited lives game and when you are in a party
There is now an indicator in the lower right hand corner to let you know when you are transmitting on the microphone

Interface
Players in a squad will now be given an additional option to spawn near their squad in CTF, Meltdown, and Breach.
Player names that are longer than 11 characters will no longer be truncated if they have a clan tag enabled.
The flag taken message will stay on the screen longer in CTF games
Enemies are now represented as triangles on the radar and map.
Buddies on your team will show up as green dots on the map and radar (if it is enabled)
Squad members will show up as yellow dots on the map and radar (if it is enabled)

Balance and Tuning
Chimeran rage damage multiplier has been reduced.
Chimera at max heat will now only lose health until they are at 50% health instead of going all the way down to 1% health.
Humans will now spawn with 1 frag grenade as well as the M5A2 Carbine
Enemies will now show up on the Human map/radar if they are within radar range of ANYONE ON YOUR TEAM and only in the following circumstances: They are sprinting or in rage mode, they are firing/attacking, they are jumping, or they are within range of node radar (Breach)
The L11-2 Dragon will now do extra damage to Chimeran players as was originally intended
Most weapon damage values have been tweaked in the interest of balance. In general, weapons have been tweaked to deal slightly less damage.
The spawn selection algorithm has been modified to make players spawn next to enemies less often, and to spawn near teammates and squadmates more often
Moved the location of the flag in several CTF maps to help prevent stalemating
Suicide will now increase the waiting time until a player respawns by 10 seconds in team games.

Ok I've been playing for a while and it sucks that the stats were not active. So I chose ranked games that suppose to put me in games with people of similar rank. So why do i end up in games with guys that have over 6 and 700 mathces owning everyone. Deathmatch ends up a game of not finishing last. I much rather play with people who dont know the levels :). It was fun but I guess I'll have to keep playing. Just my little gripe.

I have to coment on the level of detail in multplayer. Many games tone it down for multiplayer levels but not this game. Nice lag free gameplay

The match maker occasionally has issues, but it doesn't just go off of games.

The way it works is by your total kill / death ratio, accuracy, medals, and kill percentage with each weapon.

So, while someone may have a higher rank, they may also have a lower accuracy and lower kill percentage.

I'll be playing all day tuesday.

I've played this game (demo) off and on for the past two weeks, and I can say I don't completely hate it like I once did, but I'm still not in love with it. I can finally complete both stages without getting killed.

Is there any way to get rid of those two idiot soldiers who keep following you around? Those guys always block my path and always seem to find their way in front of my shots.

Also, the demo has some slowdown points, so how many are there in the game?

How long do you have to wait until you get the sniper rifle? Once obtained, can you keep it in your inventory for as long as you like, or is it for certain stages, only?

The sniper rifle is the best weapon in the demo, by far, so what's the best weapon in the game?

What the hell were they digging for after the Viper's Nest stage?

Yes, you keep the sniper rifle, but you will have to find ammo for it. There is ZERO slow down in the retail version. In my opinion, the Auger is the weapon that I went to most often for a specific purpose (to kill the Titans).

The Chimera are digging tunnels all across Britain and the rest of Europe. Each tunnel leads to a Tower where the Chimera base themselves.

I'm not far but no slow down what so ever so far. I wasn't all that excited for this game until I was about 30mins into it. Online shines.

The slow down was pretty bad in the demo. I guess the full version is a lot better. There's a huge amount during the "The buzzard laid an egg, Captain!" I sneak up to the container on the right side, and count three seconds once it hits the ground. Then, when the doors are still closed, I start tossing grenades at it, and while the first one's in flight, the doors open, and in goes the first grenade and all the rest thereafter. Then, about four or five Chimera come out, usually on the opposite side, and there's a huge slowdown.

Also, the soldiers tend to zip around the battle zone super fast a la Benny Hill while you move around at normal speed. You almost wish for Yakkity Sax to play in the background.

Again, I love the sniper rifle. Getting an "ear through ear" shot for 1 skill point is fun.

Kill them?

I'm on level 9 (out of 30), and I haven't seen any slowdown. At all. Granted, it's running at 30fps, but the amount of things going on (6 enemies taking cover and firing, dirt blowing everywhere realistically, leaves blowing, a flock of pigeons flying, etc) is pretty amazing.

^^ Duck, the most enemies I've counted on screen totals to about 8, with an average of 2-4 soldiers with you. That's a whole lot, considering everything else that's going on, it's very amazing indeed.

I love to shoot the pigeons any time I see them.

What's awesome is on your second playthrough, take it slow, and just look for odd ways to kill enemies. There are SO many ways. I love blowing them up with the llittle explosive balls or barrells, and watching their bodies go flying. barrells are the best though, since they catch on fire and fly through the air, it's like fireworks :)

It's kind of funny how you just said, "I love to shoot the pigeons..." when I just got done doing that right now with my oldest. They just 'plode, dude.

I don't have any barrels in my game, except those tall red cans, but they don't 'plode; they just fall over, make noise and give my position away. I hate those stupid things.

I know about the silver ball thingies with the green-glowing circles on them. Those are fun to 'plode, but nobody is around them in the demo.

Something odd, when I was fighting the last "boss" in the demo, that huge thing with the fireball thrower, something fell down and exploded. What was that? Is there anything I can 'plode on that level?

I see these floating jellyfish-type things that bleed if you shoot it. Can I kill one of them?

I should go rent this game, for a couple days.

I can't quite recall what explodes on that level, though I do know that there are some of the silver balls RIGHT behind him, so it's possible you might have hit one of those?

As for the Jellyfish guy's I haven't tried, maybe it's possible.

I think you'd really get a kick out of some of the later weapons, especially on the second play through, I'm in love with the splitter right now, it's awesome for large groups of enemies, and wonderful since you can carry it in front of you like a shield of ammo to mow down any opposition. Very useless, however, against one enemy, lol.

Really? Only 8? I was reading at a few other sites that in the later levels there's 20~ enemies on screen. :indiff:

Poor birds.

There are large containers high up that will drop stuff that will explode on the Viper's Nest level. Pretty cool feature, but it's useless in the demo version. The only thing you can use it on is the last "boss" guy, and he's super easy to kill.

This is what I want PS3 games to have - IGN Blogs 7.1 uncompressed sound! Anybody here play RFoM in 7.1? Maybe there's only a little difference between the PS3 and 360 in terms of graphics but as for sound the PS3 has the advantage. I just hope developers use this to their advantage. Imagine what MGS4 would sound like in PCM 7.1! :)

I'm running 7.1, but not not PCM 7.1 because of only having optical inputs and no HDMI inputs on my receiver. DD-EX and DTS-ES both support discrete back and side surround channels, but as the article you provided explains, it is a compressed format, unlike PCM which is an un-compressed format. Between the receiver and the TV alone, I'm looking at about a 5-6 thousand dollar upgrade so it will probably 2-3 years before upgrading my components to HDMI supported equipment.

Here in the UK I'm looking at around £500 for a A/V receiver that allows PCM 7.1 via HDMI. I have my HDTV already. But with the purchase of the PS3 this year I may need to wait a while. Still it's something to look forward too.
I could get a HD DVD player or Blu-ray player with the requisite RCA outputs for PCM 7.1 (my current amp supports PCM 7.1 via RCA inputs). But as that'll cost £500 anyway it's as long as it's short. But I'd love to hear games in what is essentially HD sound!
