Using DX7 instead of DX9 I can running rFactor at 60fps at a nice detail! 1280x720 16x anisotrope filter. If you don't have a super pc try DX7 libreries and tell me what you think. 👍

Some console developer of a certain driving simulation should read the rF2 interview...
Can I share setups with individuals/everyone in the race?
Yes.

Are fixed/forced setups supported?
Yes.

I use DirectX 7 myself at about 800 x 600 resolution. Perhaps it's my onboard video (SiS 760) in which I can't utilize DX8 or DX9. It still gets the job done.

Okay... I downloaded the EnduRacers Endurance Series and had a chance to test drive it. Good news is that I can somewhat place as many of them on a track (16-20) without too much a frame rate hit. The bad news- the cars are twitchy as hell to race. The cars are almost tuned in their default setup like they WANT you to spin them out. GT and sportscar machines don't make very good drift cars, you know? I am going to download the Service Pack and the Service Pack patch to enhance my experience. It is a very cool mod as I have great respect for EnduRacers. However, part of me tends to like the Serie International Du Mans mod a bit more.

Now, rFactor 2. I saw one video long ago which featured a time lapse of rain effects around Sepang. Let me tell you- the effects look amazing. I always sort of imagined why there wasn't much in the way of weather effects for rFactor. I do have some interest racing rFactor in wet/rainy conditions. I'll follow rFactor 2 as much as I can. I think us rFactor fans will have PLENTY to love about this deal when rFactor 2 is eventually released proper.

What are your specs? I'd really like to have 60 FPS but as you might have seen with my lap videos above, I don't quite have that.

It does take abit to get used to. the mod seems to have the most vicous opposite lock of all the mods I've driven (except for the GP2 mod, which I've basically ruled out long ago that I simply suck at it )

My laptop specs are: Dual Core Duo @2.53GHz, nvidia Geforce 102M (not very good), 4GB ram, HD 500GB DX7 works better than DX9 here. You could try reducing the quality of texture in your 908 video there are probably to high details for your pc specs, play with settings ahd try to find the best compromise. This evening I've downloaded the Epsilon Euskadi mod, the car is so faaast :dopey: yes, without traction control it's difficoult avoid spinning, but with TC the feeling is kinda similar to GT5's 908 without TC lol. I think prototypes use TC in real life too, so we have to.. Anyway nice mod and good looking dashboard view 👍

When I'll have some free time I'll try the endurance series, but I've read it can't be well removed after the installation, they advice to reinstall rfactor.. so I need to backup my stuff before.

The next phase of my EnduRacers Endurance Series experience was in downloading Service Pack 1. I raced many of the other included cars. The first thing I love about this Service Pack is MUCH better sorting out of cars. If you haven't played with the original package, you have a bunch of cars based on year and based on series. For example: 2006, GT2, American Le Mans Series... that's not to mention there are so many cars within each class. This package sorts out everything better. And with all due respect, there are too damn many cars to choose from! You got cars from 2006 to 2010 for most mods. Unless you know EXACTLY what car you want to use, you're going to have your head spinning trying to find that one car you want to use!

I test drove some of the newer cars in the package. From my Sports Car GT experience, some cars and mods I've downloaded don't have any engine sounds, so all I would hear is the wind rushing as I get up to speed. Why do I mention this? It's because I raced the Audi R10 TDI in this mod. It is SO unbelievably quiet at speed! This is quite the silent assassin. COMPLETELY accurate car sounds when behind the wheel. I do enjoy racing the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. I also have enjoyed racingin the Ferrari F430 GT2. Not only do many of the cars slide out too quickly (especially under acceleration), the cars are also lock up the brakes pretty severely if you're not careful under braking. I always try to use small intervals of throttle and brake input in racing games.

The one issue I've had from the mod is that the Porsche RS Evo will not load. I am probably sure the Service Pack 1 patch will remedy this including some other issues. One other issue I have is that the game tends to take a bit longer to load everything. Even with a 1 GB RAM upgrade and playing this game on my external USB drive, it takes quite a bit longer to load everything. The opening video to the EnduRacers Endurance Series is longer and skipped quite a bit. Otherwise, this Service Pack just makes a great mod even better.

It took a few hours, but I was able to download the Service Pack 1 patch for the EnduRacers Endurance Series. There's still a problem, though- I still get these WCCARBODY errors trying to load up the Porsche RS Spyder Evo models. A lot of the cars just end up as these generic (basically) placeholder cars when a certain car can't be successfully loaded. Maybe it's the fact that I use the DirectX 7 settings because rFactor plays like crap on my PC under DX8 or DX9 settings. I know I had this problem when I was racing the Sports Car Challenge mod when the 2002 BMW M3 GTR wouldn't show up. Thankfully, a patch fixed that. I either need to do some more work to get everything to work properly. Otherwise, the Endurance Series mod is great!

I found the Aston Martin DBR9 a blast to drive in that mod. Also, the Saleen S7 is crazy fast and sounds great at speed (as does the DBR9). It is still scary how quiet the Audi R10 TDI is at speed. It's like you don't even know it's there. The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP is marginally louder but still mostly silent. Since I like playing the underdog at times, I usually find myself racing the Creation prototypes in the P1 class. It gets up to speed quite well and handles nicely. Also, it sounds great. Also, I think I noticed that since installing the EnduRacers Endurance Series mod, I noticed more realistic (and more dramatic) tire smoke. It is a great touch to go along with these cars.

Once I get the fire to design skins for cars, I'll try to make my own original skins for cars in this mod (or at least in the Serie Internationale du Mans mod).

There is a way to fix the WCCARBODY error, but I forget what files have to be renamed to work around the issue.

I've just recently got back into playing rF after not playing it since December. I was also thinking about getting back into skins for cars. I have a few, somewhat basic looking skins that I had made a while ago for various mods.

I'm looking forward to try the ALMS Enduraces mod. Now I need too clean up my pc a bit, defrag, and complete the Epsilon Euskadi championship I'm running atm. The AI is competitive in this mod.. Why in the world GT5 doesn't have an AI like that.. :ouch: I have a (stupid) question about Enduraces mod, is it possible to choose cars à la GTR2 in a race weekend? I would like to create a Ferrari vs. Porsche event, avoiding prototypes and gt1, is it possible?

@JohnBM01 If you are a regular rFactor user don't buy a console for racing games, you will be disappointed. Save the money for a better Pc instead ;)

So I have to rename some files to remedy the WCCARBODY error? One thing I read was re-installing the entire mod (I'm not trying this after all I've done to even put this mod on my PC). The downloading and extra downloading is worth it if you're a sportscar racing fan and have rFactor.

I still remember when the only thing close to any traditional sportscar racing for rFactor was with those ProtoRacer machines. I was unimpressed and was looking for any kind of traditional sportscar racing mod. First came the Sports Car Challenge mod (originally of F1 1999-2002 fams). Then, the EnduRacers material came along. Later came the Serie Internationale du Mans. Since all three mods have been released (in some way), it is great that traditional sportscar racing arrived on rFactor. Nothing like racing a GT or prototype car at the limit with rFactor. That's especially when you can adjust the time. This is just a great mod.

I am not really a regular rFactor racer, but I am very much a journeyman of racing games. I just love to race in games regardless of PC or console racing.

I can't find any information on how to fix it, but it seems the RS Spyder Evo is only meant for DX9 with how they've got the files for it.

I know I renamed some files in another mod that had this same issue when I had an older computer.

I'll try messing around with my install to see how or if it can be worked around. I always run my games with trace files active in case a ctd happens so I can sort it out.

Tried DX7 and I got the same problem you had.
DX8 and DX9 works fine.

is there any release information for rFactor 2?

I was also wondering this.
I've been considering purchasing rFactor or one of the GTRs, but I'm not sure if I should just wait for rFactor 2.

The developers Facebook page says TBA 2011 :( My guess is towards the back end of the year.

rFactor is only going to set you back about $20 for a new copy from Amazon. With all the free mods, you'll easily be playing it for a long time. Even when 2 is released, it will take time for all the good mods to filter through so I think it is worth getting the original.

i just got rfactor yesterday and i am having some trouble with the FFB on my DFGT wheel. the problem is i can not even feel the FFB. could anyone tell me why this happens?

Have you tried adjusting the strength of the FFB? If not, check out the control settings when in the race monitor. You can make pretty much any adjustment to the wheel you can think of including how much feedback you are getting.

Also as a side note, the FFB can feel a little odd so I would recomend trying this FFB mod: http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Real%20Feel%20FFB%20Plugin

yeah i have tried 100%, 50%, 10%, 0%, -100%, etc and it has not fixed the problem. i have installed that mod as well and it did not fix it either. though i am not sure if i installed it correctly.

I'm racing the Porsche RS Spyder... in the Serie Internationale du Mans mod. I did a few races to get enough experience points to go with unlocking the LM-P2 machines. I was torn between going with the Porsche RS Spyder and the Dome S101 Judd. I knew that whatever choice I made, I'll have to live with it unless I make enough Credits to get something else instead. The RS Spyder in the SIDU/ILMS mod handles and performs quite well. I'll likely update my blog post on this mod to discuss my prototype experience so far.

As much as I love the work that has been done with the EnduRacers Endurance Series mod, I feel just a bit more comfortable using the Serie Internationale du Mans mod. Another thing I like is that you get some blank skins and some customization options for each car in the Serie Internationale du Mans mod. That way, you won't have to really think about getting some blank white car or something and starting from scratch. You even get a head start with some of the blank cars in different color styles. I still want to try to design skins for cars in the mod so I and RACECAR can prove to be two people who like painting up cars as much as we do racing them. I haven't painted up cars for sim games since the Sports Car GT days.

^^ I couldnt play rFactor and have to rely on "experience points" or credits, just edit the appropriate .CCH file and be done with it ;)

Yeah, but I often like to play the game the right way (unless certain cheats are necessary to play/enjoy a game). I logged a lot of experience points to unlock the Formula IS cars (until I realized you can race with the rFactor-liveried cars for free. However, I dislike that reddish-orange color, so I didn't go for them.

If I do make my own skins for cars, my prototype machines will be free. Why should I pay in the game for MY own cars? I still may want to go get a Dome in the LM-P2 class later.

Decided to get the game last night because a lot of people are saying this is the best sim on the market (after iRacing, but I'm not going to be paying monthly fees, no waaaay, plus don't care too much for online-only games).

So what mods do you guys recommend? I've installed the one with F1 cars from 2010, and installed the V8Factor. Is there any mod that makes the game have better physics or something like that (kinda like Overhaul for Shift1), or the game is just fine in its stock form?

Is there any mod that lets you use your wheel's buttons to navigate the menus? I'm using DFGT and I play on my TV, so every time I want to change my car or track or enter a race I have to go to my PC and twist my head to look at my TV and use my keyboard and mouse to navigate. Very annoying.

Thanks for your help!

The best thing to do is to go to rFactorCentral.com and browse the car mods and tracks by community rating, then your taste from there. I encourage you to join the site if you like rFactor, they make it very easy to find and one-click-install mods.

Other excellent resource sites are:

Historic & GT Cars mod is awesome for vintage racers. For Formula One there are several, I like F1 2006 CTDP for how the cars handle. Also a very nice one is F1 1991 LE 2.10. So much to chose from, rFactor is awesome. You made a good investment 👍

I think I can say that if you played and loved Sports Car GT, rFactor just takes what made the modding aspects of SCGT and made it many times better. rFactor was basically MADE for mod-happy gamers. It's one of the finest sim racing games ever made. Surely my personal favorite (because the GTR series, which uses the rFactor engine, is too much for me).

I would recommend the Historic Rally Car (or whatever it's called) mod if you want to do some rally racing. I think if there's one thing I wish was perfected better in rFactor, it would be rally/off-road racing. I've had better rallying playing Colin McRae Rally 2.0 than in rFactor.

^^ that looks sick!!! gonna have to check that out for sure

FuriousDemon - I don't think you can set wheel buttons for rFactor controls, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. I just keep my keyboard right next to my wheel nice and handy haha

I've been using FSONE2009 for F1 racing and it's a great mod. physics and sounds are 10/10

By any chance have you guys seen the new Adelaide Street Circuit by Team ORSM? They released it 1 day ago at Race Department.

Here is a video of it.

Here is the link to the track.

Looks pretty impressive. I'll bet it'll get a lot of rave reviews. :sly:

Speaking of RaceDepartment, you plan on entering in their V8 Supercars series?

I've been using FSONE2009 for F1 racing and it's a great mod. physics and sounds are 10/10
Formula SimRacing is using that mod for the 2011 season as well. :)

Nah, I race the Monday night V8SC series on iRacing. Too hard to win a race in that let alone try and practice for another league!

It's hard to drive those cars, I was trying to qualify before the deadline without any prior practice and I could not keep the car from drifting around every turn. Takes some getting used to.

I got rfactor the other day and downloaded a few mods but they dont seem to work, any car/track i try to load turns out to be montreal with one of those red/black starting mustangs, and if i try to race on montreal normally, then it will crash, the mods I have are: enduracers endurance series+sp1, ilms, korea, spenag, brands hatch, donnington, and spa tracks, and fs1 2009 & 2010 wcp, dbr2-1 mod.
does anyone know if any of those could cause this or is there a patch I need?

How did you install the mods? Where did you download them? Also, check your settings, sett everything on low and see if it runs. You may not have the hardware.
