Im just bored so I decided to make a thread about SAT scores. Im a sophmore now and tried a practice SAT in SAT school and got a 1020. Horrible indeed, but it was my first attempt at it. Cmon people dont be shy and share!!! :)

I never took the SATs. I don't need them. I got an ACT score of 31, though. Max is 36. :) average is 22.

1st try (sophomore in HS): 1470
2nd try (junior in HS): 1570

Needless to say, I was pretty happy with myself ;) They got me into a good school.

PSATs I was third in my class is all I know (and that I only had a handful of questions wrong). They're happening again in a couple weeks, so I'll let you know my score when I get it, and then the SATs are happening in the spring, so if the thread's still around I'll post. :)

SAT? Please explain what that is?

First of all, SAT no longer stands for Scholastic Aptitude Test, the original name of the test when it was introduced in 1941. Although you may still see that name occasionally, the College Board, the not-for-profit educational association that sponsors the SATs, decided to let the acronym stand on its own as a way of addressing controversy about the meaning of the word "aptitude." The College Board also rejected the alternative "Scholastic Assessment Test." (English teachers probably pointed out that this name was redundant, since assessment means test.)

Ah.. So it's some kind of aptitude test. Thought so, just needed someone to reinforce me ;)

I took them two times. Each combined score was around 1350. If you took the two best English/math, they were about 1450.

i got 98 and 97 %iles in my FCAT math and reading scores....i haven't taken an SAT yet.

i find it halarious when some kids manage to not pass the fcat.

I'm an Aussie, too, so that was the question I was going to ask. What would be our "SAT" here?

EDIT: As soon as I posted this I realised that the comparison would most likely be our "Year 11 Preliminary Exams". Would it?

If I am a 3.33 GPA student what should I expect on the SAT's?

GPA has absolutely no bearing on your SAT scores. My best guess would be somewhere between 400 and 1600.

The SAT is an achievement test used by colleges during the admissions process. They allow colleges to more easily admit or refuse students.

The scores range from 400 to 1600, and all it basically tests is your ability to take tests. It really isn't a great barometer of how good a student you are. I was an atrocious student in high school and I scored a 1250, which is a quite a bit higher than average (probably around 1000).

Congratulations. My schooling has gone way downhill after year 7. Funnily enough year 7 was 2000...I got good marks then. Then I discovered GTA 2 by March the next year. Suddenly I went from AAABBCC to BCCCDDD. Then at the end of the yaer, GTA 3 came along. My next year's results were CCCDDDD. Then came Vice City: CCCDDDD once again. Then this year not much GTA, until recently. My half-yearly results: AAABBC.

Soon comes San Andreas, the game I'm most excited for and includes MUCH MORE things. This term until Term 3 next year is my final year of schooling...

I hever actually got to take the SAT while I was in my prime. We did the ACT, which I scored a 26 / 36 on I believe. Book smarts aren't my thing. Though I believe I was upper 30s in math, english, and basic science. The history and advanced science stuff I always blew.

Ditto. I'm more of a street-smarts person myself, less of a book-smarts. Especially Maths and English. I find alot of things in those subjects pointless. I think that if a certain profession needs algebra, let the people interested do that as an elective subject, and let the rest of us have a chance at some good marks!

Where street smarts and common sense will make you popular and lead a self rewarding life, book smarts will make you tons of cash. Keep that in mind.

1180.

Before you start calling me stupid remember that I have a master's in engineering.

I did much better on the GRE.

Already got the money. Might as well have the self-rewarding life, too. :sly:

Well, my wife has the money, but she let me have some sometimes. 👍

Marry ... rich ... GENIUS!!

My girlfriend graduated highschool with better than a 4.0. She has a 3.989 so far on her bachelor's degree. Her masters will also be something absurdly high like that. Then she'll get a job making twice what I am fresh out of college and I get to retire at age 30 (: Stay home, do laundry, take care of the dogs. In a few years you guys are going to get more LoudMusic than you know what to do with. BAM! (:

The wife is an night-shift, weekend only ER nurse. If she plays her cards right, she pulls in around $50/hour.

That doesn't happen too often, though. They give her $5/hour just for being "Weekend Status" and another $2 for nights only. Leaves me plenty of PS2 time except for the 2 dogs and 6 month old son.

Back on subject, I never took the SAT, ACT, etc. I did do decent (using the term loosely) on an IQ test. 👍

Nothing wrong with a bit of Loud Music.

I don't really need good marks to become a (corrupt) Cop. D in English and a UAI of 66. Easy as.

Good God! Some of you guys are geniuses in my book. I haven't taken it yet (I will in a few months though) but I would Kill to make more than a 1200. I would paint it on my forhead and leave it for a week.

I like to think i'm smart. I did make straight A's last year with a few hard classes. But i've never ever been good at any standardized tests and the SAT is the mother of all standardized tests. I'm certainly not looking forward to it.

My jaw dropped when i saw your scores. How in the hell were you able to get a 1470 on the SAT when you were a sophomore!! Tips please!! I...I'm speechless

And isn't a 1570 just 30 points away from a perfect score? I may be wrong but i don't know.

(Man I really feel stupid. :indiff: :( )
