I thought that's the race start, what about a bit of practice and maybe qualis before? :)

EDIT// Nvm, got it. 1330 open, 1400 start, right? :p

Correct :) i put 1330 down as i'm still at work until 1230. If i get back and sorted early enough though then the room will open earlier.

By the way, meant to add : TO ALL DRIVERS; if ever you are after a car and just can't find it then click on my signature. I have well over 500 cars and could practicaly guarantee that i have or can get the car you're after for the races.

Now I've got more confidence again, after clocking 2'07's with the Vette on mediums. As a change of plans, I'm not touching softs here, except in qualifying, because they don't give any advantage, being only 1 second faster. :ouch:

What do you want in exchange for the Supra RZ '97? :>

Btw, have you already decided the amount of laps for Suzuka? Closest to 30mins would be 14 I guess, but isn't that a bit too short if you want us to pit?

Correct, it's 14 laps! I gave away a car last night and i'm not about to start 'charging' my fellow Saturday racers for cars now. When i sign in i'll send you the Supra free :)

I'll confirm my car, in a few minutes. But sign up the CSL or GTR prematurely.

OK, but in future please inform me of your car choice by the stated time on the stated day like everyone else managed to. I even messaged you last night when you was playing GT5, straight to your GT message box !

Sorry. I've been a bit late on that. Sign me up with an M3 CSL.
And again, excuse me for the inconvenience.
And what message?
To my profile or..?

Whilst you was online with GT5 last night i posted a message to you in your community bit. Anyhow, room will be opening very shortly 👍

JUST 20 MINUTES TO GO GUYS !

Phew, I managed to finish eating in 5 minutes. I hope the online physics don't affect my driving too much negatively, or all the practice would just be wasted.

Wonderful race guys!

Too bad I couldn't test the car properly before the race - had a serious lack of power, I focused on the handling but my acceleration was poor. I just couldn't keep up with the M3's, in fact, even RX-7 smoked me on the exit of turn 14. I started on racing softs, but after few laps noticed that it was a poor decision after all. I felt like every single car was faster than mine on the straights, so I decided to go easy on the tyres and just drive safely, what turned out to be a great choice - had safe 3rd place on lap 12... But then I started to feel the tyres begging for mercy - completely worn out, maybe 1/4 of the bar left. Didn't take long for the M3's to catch up, got overtaken by 2 cars at the end of the lap (fun fact - at the end of the race Lathan and Cobrius were 14 secs ahead of me, and I was driving as fast as I could). I was doing clean laps, yet the gap was getting bigger and bigger.

On the final lap XPOWER caught up. He was just so much faster than me... Managed to overtake me at the S turn just before the finish line and I couldn't do anything about it. When I tried to block him I felt a slight bump and my car nearly spun out. Lost to him by over 1 second and finished 6th, even though I think I made only one small mistake during the whole race :)

Gonna prepare better for the next race!

Fun race to say the least.
Looking forward to Fuji. I don't think the M3 will prevail there. Feels like it's time to dust of the old 'Vette.

Feels like a long wait until next Saturday. I've asked before, but is anyone up for something perhaps tomorrow or next week?

Hey guys! good race? hope so anyway.👍 Shame just came back from work a little earlier than expected, still wouldn't of made the race though.

XPOWER, you racing online now? If you are, I'll join ya if thats alright

Congratulations everyone for this race!

At the start I noticed that the qualifying system didn't actually work - I was, for example, in the 3rd grid! Got into 2nd by drafting XPOWER before a fatal mistake as I swerved wide in the first turn - then lost positions in almost every corner before falling into last place, despite my fairly decent driving. Several errors followed midway through the race and I was in last place again, but climbed to 5th during the pit-stops. My tyres had a surprisingly good grip even worn out, but I still decided to pit especially when multiple cars caught up and I went wide again, getting a penalty. :ouch:

I was last once again, but made a miraculous comeback to 7th, although luck was also involved. I drove my best laptimes of the race (well obviously they were, as I had softs now, knowing that they didn't need to last anymore than a few laps) and slowly crept up behind FishyJuice and SinisterClaw. In the end of the penultimate lap, Sinister was apparently involved in some sort of a crash as his car was on the side of the track. On the last lap, I did everything I could to catch up to Fishy, and was surprised when he was driving a ghost car after the last chicane, with a slow pace. I immediately realized my chance and went for the position, but he swerved a little - probably to block - and knowing that ghost cars can turn into normal in any moment, I decided to swerve as well, as I was already a bit ahead. Fortunately I made it without any late grass trips and finished 7th by just a margin of 0.6 seconds.

But still, I think I could do better. We'll see if I'm right in Fuji. :)

Feels like a long wait until next Saturday. I've asked before, but is anyone up for something perhaps tomorrow or next week?

I think I could be free tomorrow as well, to be honest there's barely any schoolwork to do.

I'm up basically every day. Just send me an invite (IGN: Vatrox) and we can race anytime I'm online.

The swerving, yeah. That was me trying to stay on track and blocking. Sorry. I just completely lost it after I spun out and lost 12(!) seconds on lap 9.

OK guys, here's the results :

1st place, Filip_Ovik = 35 points
2nd place, me_joca = 30 points
3rd place, LAHAN-33 = 27points
4th place, cobrius = 24 points
5th place, XPOWER180 = 21 points
6th place, Vatrox = 18 points
7th place, Carbonox = 15 points
8th place, FishyJuice = 12 points
9th place, SinisterClaw = 10 points

Many thanks to you all for participating, it was a pleasure and great fun. Looking forward to Fuji, i'm going to get practicing right away!

I noticed that too; i left my qualifying time very late and got something like a 2:06xxx but the fastest registerd time was in the 2:04's yet i got pole. I think it's because GT5 runs a similar system to the FIA GT';s qualifying and that is that no matter how fast your time, if you come back in to the pits then it doesn't count and you have to go ouyt again. Seems odd that but nothing can be done except stay out on track (or parked up out of the way with the handbrake on!)

12 seconds once is not that bad... Especially, when your tires are fine. I, for instance, was losing 6-7 seconds every single lap :)

Started with 2:09.xx lap times, around 5th my times dropped to 2:12.xx, then on the last few laps with no tires my times were around 2:17.xx

Guys, how long were your pit stops? I so regret doing the whole race without one now.

I think you can go back to the pits, you just cannot exit to the lobby menu and adjust your setup - don't quote me on that though, can anyone confirm?

By the way, shall we have Skid Recovery Force on or off in the future races? I had better ask now so I could practice with the correct settings from the beginning. :) My car of choice for Fuji is still under question, but the Vette might be a likely candidate.

As for Fishy's suggestion, what time would the session be tomorrow?

Meh. I lost focus, I guess.

My fastest lap was in the race 2.06.999.

I should have gone with the fully customized gearbox instead of the stock one.

My pitstop was perhaps 15-20 seconds.

Yes, i'm glad you bought this up. I ran with SRF on and my average lap times were 2:09xxx. This obviously wasn't of great help as up to the final corner of the final lap i was in 6th! I noticed the guys ahead of me ran without the aids so i can only conclude that driving aids just make life easier for the driver, not faster laps.

I'm happy for a free reign on all of it as it should be upto the individual to choose how to set up their cars. Lets go with the majority verdict though but we need to have a majority say by no later than Monday in order to let people have plenty of practice at Fuji with their chosen set ups. 👍

FOR : XPOWER180

AGAINST :

Disable. It simply makes it too easy, you can floor it without having to worry about anything, it's actually an aid that makes your lap times better.

EDIT/

Skid recovery:

FOR : XPOWER180
AGAINST : Vatrox

I'd vote for for. I think it's already challenging enough to drive, and it doesn't matter if laptimes are somewhat faster, at least for me.

FOR : XPOWER180, Carbonox
AGAINST : Vatrox

Well, if it just made it easier to drive, I wouldn't have anything against using it. But this not only makes it easier, it actually makes you faster - so people who decide not to use it got a disadvantage that cannot be neutralized with driving skill.

It's much worse than the racing line, imho. Racing line doesn't actually make you faster, it just allows you to drive fast without knowing the track at all - someone can take the exact same line with the aid turned off. Can't say the same about SR though...

Just think about it:
TCS - acceleration control.
ABS - brake control.
ASM - steering help.
Racing line - track knowledge.
All of those just make up for a lack of skill. And what about Skid Recovery? Come up with an equivalent, guys...

As for other news, I began Day 1 of testing rather well with the Corvette, clocking several 1'43's in a row with different tyre setups. It turned out that while Softs in front and rear still gave good single laptimes, Soft Front and Medium Rear were even better and I suppose that'll be my combo for the next weekend's race. I even got my best lap with them (1'43.209) which was 0.001 seconds faster than my best one with full Softs, with which I still haven't got a 'perfect' lap.

But I was stopped by a bumblebee who had somehow entered our house, this is the second time already this spring. :scared: I must find out how they can get inside, because I can't retire mid-race just because of them.

I just realized there's something terribly wrong with me. When you said "bumblebee", I was wondering for good few mins what the hell are you talking about and how did you get SuperBee Hemi '71 in your house ;D
