Now dudes, THIS was a race.

I kept the fastest pace through the qualifying, but just like before, I messed up on the first lap and lost several positions even though the first corner still went okay. I even collected a penalty, but fortunately that prevented me from crashing into the crowd in that tight chicane as I had made a shortcut. The first laps were extremely tight, but I stayed behind the big pack most of the time to avoid carnage. It looked like Vatrox was a bit slower than the rest, but still defended his position with the Supra.

Closer to the middle of the race, I finally managed to find a steady pace and fought it out with Filip and cobrius - a true Finland vs. Sweden battle! It lasted for long, and cobrius eventually pitted (as did X180 from the lead) and I passed Filip to lead the race briefly, only to pit on the following lap as my tires were going bad, and I expected the Swede to also pit at some point (which he sadly didn't). I emerged behind cobrius in 4th, but got ahead of him when he accidentally took a shortcut at the final turn and spun out.

The rest was chasing - I desperately increased my pace and started getting 1'40 laptimes again as X180 in second was not too far ahead. But I ran out of laps, finishing only 0.9 seconds short of 2nd. :( Still, 3rd is an excellent finish against these opponents who definitely have the pace. Unfortunately some of you left the game midway through the race, so only 7 drivers proceeded to finish.

Looking forward to Nürburgring!

9 started, 7 finished ! One had a connectiion issue, another seemingly just vanished! Personaly i had a good race, got very tense with Carbonox closing in on me extremely rapidly towards the end to claim my 2nd place, glad i just held on to it though! Congrats' to Filip_Ovik once again, a convincing win with a good strategy of using no pit stops.

I'll be posting the official results up soon, just reviewing the footage in light of me making a monumental cock-up; i forgot to make the time delay 180 seconds so the last 3 didn't get a finishing time. I need to clearly see who was in what position and if any battles for position were happening.

As for next week, dig out those British cars! It's the 1st theme week of all British cars at the the Nurburgring GP-F with 15 laps. Same rules and regs apply, 520pp, FR and no RM's, tuners or racers allowed. :)

This weeks results, 18 laps of Fuji Speedway F.

I've reviewed the footage. Clearly Vatrox and Lahan were having a very good battle. However, it always had Vatrox leading and on the 2nd to last corner before the time limit came in Vatrox had over one second lead after Lahan ran a bit wide. I don't think Lahan would have recovered sufficently to mount a genuine challenge for 5th with just one remaining corner so i'm happy to keep the results as they are. Once again, very sorry for that mistake - i'll ensure it doesn't happen again.

Filip_Ovik, 1st place 35 points
XPOWER180, 2nd place 30 points
Carbonox, 3rd place 27points
cobrius, 4th place 24 points
Vatrox, 5th place 21 points
LAHAN-33, 6th place 18 points
SinisterClaw, 7th place 15 points

Post 2 updated with total scores !

Yes, even though I didn't make it in time for qualifying (joined literally 30 seconds before the race, had no time for anything, not even a single lap) and had to start from the last place, I somehow managed to get 2nd after the first corner. I was doing clean 1:44 laps with 3-4 cars on my rear bumper, when after a short fight with LAHAN I was forced to go off the track to avoid hitting him.
I recieved a penality for corner cutting, everyone finally managed to pass me and instantly left me behind - problem was, X180 had already a good 13 seconds advantage...

I felt down to 6th, my tires were already a bit worn out so I had to start worrying about grip, pitted at lap 9. Around that time I somehow managed to get 5, then it was just a matter of finishing the race. Sadly, around lap 15 I recieved another penality and LAHAN caught up. I would like to say that it was a nice battle, but I lost my focus and started making lots of mistakes. Still, I think I was a bit faster - pulled away right before the end of the race.

About the same as the previous race for me - I think it's the end of me using japanese classics, gonna try to find something a bit faster next time :)

Also, I can say that I partially achieved my goal for that race - 1 LFA beaten! :D

Im afraid I have to drop out of the series...My workload is really breaking me lately and it's not gonna improve as the term stretches.:(

Sorry to hear that, Phil but thanks for letting me know :)

Can I have a 'classified 8th'?

Still not figured out what happened, but it wasn't the same problem that kept me out last week. It's possible it was an issue with my internet connection, as I was also logged out of PSN.

Sorry mate, no can do! Points are only awarded for completion as in any race. If i award one person points for not finishing (wether through no fault of their own or just giving up) then where does it end? Shame it happened to you but i'm afraid that's the way the cookie crumbles. :indiff:

As a note, I expect we'll have another 14-lapper, as my times with the Aston Martin DB9 were around the 2'04-2'05's, like the fastest drivers in Suzuka. The upcoming race will probably be interesting with so little proper passing spots. :sly:

But obviously don't submit my entry with the DB9 yet, I need to test some other cars too before the decision.

I was going to go with 14 laps but the Suzuka race finished a bit under the 30 minute mark so i've extended it to 15 laps which also plays around with the pit-window a bit!

Now it seems to me that the DB9 is indeed an excellent vehicle for the upcoming race. It's heavy, so the Weight Reduction is basically a must. I've already breached into the 2'03's, and more is coming.

Btw, did I hear laughter during the Fuji qualifying about my laptime? :D

You sure did, you do some very fast qualifying laps and it puts us all to shame!

What DB9 are you using, premium or standard?

I don't remember about premium or standard, but it's the one that is found at the new car dealership.

Premium! Yep, you're deafinatly mega fast, i can't get better than 2:08 with that car!

Fair enough.

Trying out the DB9 (P) myself, but yet to run at Nurb. Turns out I maxed one ages ago and never actually drove it!

Okay, this is the end of Day 1 in testing. It ended pretty well, with a 2'02.8 being my best time. Along with it, I have an Excel file that is basically a Wikipedia-like chart of the season, if you are interested. I decided to create it to increase the depth of the thread. :)

Sounds like a good race guys!. Looking forward to racing nurburgring as it will be my first race of the season.:) When is the next practice room open, because I'd be happy to join?

So I take it that it's legal to take >520 PP cars and de-tune them? I haven't tried that out, but as most people are. I guess I will as well.

OMG, I was just watching the replay from Fuji. What a battle for second place the first 9 laps. If you have not watched it yet, do it it's quite entertaining.

Where to watch the replay? I really want to see it too :dopey:

EDIT: If you guys did like I think and saved it in the Replay Theatre (I forgot to do so, although I don't even recall there being such a possibility), would someone kindly upload the race to Youtube or a similar video site? :)

Yes, i can't see why you can't do that. It's been done with the LFA's and as we've seen so far they're always winning. Oh wait a minute . . . . .

Seriously though, feel free. As long as it stays within the regulations then their is no problem. All i ask is that you make sure you submit your car to me by the deadline because if you spent all week tuning and practicing in an illegal car and left it until race day to tell me then who's the one that's going to suffer from it? Not me ! For example, you wouldn't want to be practicing in a de-tuned SLR McLaren all week only for me to point out it has a German flag next to it despite it's British connection!

I'm still looking for an answer to this. :) Couldn't find anything from Youtube and I don't recall there being an opportunity to save the replay for online races.

EDIT: Now I noticed the tiny little button that can save the replays. :ouch: If I only knew about it, I would have saved that race too.

I guess I did the unzipping right, but it definitely doesn't show on the PS3.

(2'02.5 times on Nürburgring, wohoo!)

As a final note for today, I tried out a second car, the TVR Tuscan Speed 6. It's capable of 2'02.5's easily even though it can't take corners very well - on the other hand, it's faster on straights than the DB9. I've really got to make a careful decision between these rides unless I find something superior!

Not tried the Tuscan yet - might make it tommorrows purchase! I've got 3 cars that are comfortably dipping in the 2:02's, it's just a case of now finding out which one carries on putting in the best times over a 15 lap period with tyre wear. This weeks practicing will be very interesting!

I'm interested in joining if it's a 1330 race time cause most of the races on here are too late for me.

Hi, yeah the room's always opened at approx 1330 (been earlier both weeks!) and the race starts as close to 1400 as possible with each race planned out to last approx 30 minutes. Add me on PSN and a grid slot is yours 👍
We have some excellent racers so far and all are clean drivers. Everything you need to know is in post 1. Hope to see you at the next race, British cars theme week (520pp, FR drivetrain as always).
