Challenger event was the easiest. I don't consider myself an amazing driver but I got 2nd the first time, then first place (by about 10s) on my second attempt.

Are you serious? I tried three races today. The last one in SS Route 5 was the easiest.

At the Fiat 500-event I got second in fourth try and at Challenger-event I got third and have no idea how to become first.

The problem here is, that I consider myself a very good driver

But well....this evets are amazing and stuff I was waiting for because A-Spec-mode is just a continueing freak show with boring opponents.

Where is the fun in these? I can only get second in the fiat event 3.7 seconds behind the leader and thats pushing the little fiat to the limit. I even did the window weight mod to get it down to the bare minimum 1000kg. These are just like the licence tests where the only way to win is to drive in a way that would get you killed/black flagged in real life. These events are just stressful, there is setting a challenge and then there is just being stupid.

You guys are unbeleivable, rolling start in last place with the cars stretched out in single file and I'm supposed to be thankful for the challenge? I want fun. Its a VIDEO GAME.

It's just practice.

They're not really to bad, be consistent and learn the tracks corners and you should be fine. I highly doubt I'd get black flagged for the driving I did in the races..

I'm 1.2 sec away from gold without any modification to the 500.

So yeah it's doable, try to maintain speed, there's only 3 turn where you have to break and that's the 3 U-turn.

You should aim for 1.21 low on first and low 1.20 high 1.19 on the other with modification.

Besides if you are having a hard time, then throw some money at the car, you will get them all back when you win (which you will eventually).

You're missing the point. I want fair racing against evenly matched cars. that's good quality content. These new events are just more of the same old unfairly rigged garbage. Please forgive me if I don't want to spend 2 or 3 hours grinding at one event and even then maybe I still won't win. And even if I do its by half a tenth. Not enjoyable at all.

I paid good money for this game after waiting a long time for it. I want to experience all the content and want it to be enjoyable and accessible. I grinded out golds in the licence tests for many hours for damn all reward and expected that would be the end of that kind of horrible gameplay. Looks like I was wrong.

I'm certain I can do them, I just don't think its worth the massive grinding timesink for so little content. Doesn't anybody think its sad that the only way this game becomes a challenge is when you're thrown to the back of a stretched out field for a rolling start?

The problem in GT-community is the big difference in driving skill and experience. I can call myself very talented and have very less problems in deactivating driving aids or get fast lap times.

Other drivers are less talented and feel events much more challenging or not beatable.

But it´s a problem which can never be solved because the difference between skill level is huge.

Well im clearly pretty rubbish at this game, Just tried the Fiat race, did all the mods and finished 5th, a mere 21 seconds behind the leader!

 

[E30 Evo Sport]

1st Race Tskuba, I got all the aero upgrades for the car plus rims (insta win). Tuned sports suspension (rear camber at 3.0 and max stiffness in rear springs, front camber to 2.4 and lowest stiffness for springs, ride height to lowest). Screwed up a lot during the race, bes lap was 1:18.xxx and I still got the first guy in the last corner, I was loling.

2nd Race Tokyo R246, I dont think you need to tune your car for this but i put suspension and clutch/flywheel etc, and some aero parts, easy win.

3rd Race see race 2

4th Race see race 2 - actually get a fully tunned tranny here, should be in first place by the end of lap 2.

5th Race SS5 - This was tough for me, I wanted to use the GTRs but couldnt because of oil changes. Ended up using my R34 Fully tuned except for the obvious power limitations which I ended up screwing up anyway, max power was about 474bhp I forget the weight (terrible torque curve on this engine with the mods I made). Then the first two tries I got second I was struggling with massive power on understeer. Went to GT Auto put aero upgrades including wing (which I then set to the lowest setting), tunned the suspension for oversteer, as much as possible in a 4wd car, then set the Diff to 15 F 85 R, and voila low 1:28s which allowed me to beat the Ford GT on the last straight.

Here's the suspension setting if anyone is using an R34:

You dont get to use much of 6th gear unless you get to draft someone, but the rest of the gears are higher and they make use of the engines peaky characteristics, plus you dont want too many unnecessary gear changes.

I just tried the Dodge Challenger Event and got my ass handed to me. So here's a guide on how to cheat and win, to get your ~750,000 credits and ~60,000 EXP in 10 minutes.

If you don't want to cheat, don't read the following. If you want to get the cash and credits, and move on to something you enjoy more in game, then here you go.

I bought the Challenger new from the Dodge Dealership. (75,000)
You don't need to tune anything, other than the Fully Customizable Racing Transmission. (20,000)
Total: 95,000

In settings, change the top speed to 149,155 or 162. I used 155, you'll hit the limiter down the stretch about 1/8th mile before slowing for the corner, but a small sacrifice for a bit more acceleration through the rest of the tracks tight corners.

The shortcuts.
There's 2, and only 1 is really needed to win, the other one, is one I accidentally found when I overdrove a corner.
The important shortcut is on the very first corner after the long straight. Start braking at the same point the 'preferred line' indicates. Instead of following the track, cut to the right, inbetween the tires and the cement wall. It cuts 2 tight corners of the track, and is enough of a shortcut on it's own, to put you right behind the leader as you finish lap 4. Giving you the entire final lap, to make the pass and maintain the lead.

Note that you do not have to fly through this shortcut, slow and steady to ensure you don't spin out. You shouldn't have to go any faster than you would have through the corners. Give it a few tests on the first lap, find a comfort zone for you and make it work. Usually around 55-65mph is the sweet spot for me. Using this shortcut, gave me lap times of mid 1:47's, for reference. I'm not a super driver (obviously or I wouldn't need the damn short cut!)

The second short cut, I only used when I made a mistake. On the very last 2 tight corners of the infield, you can again cut them both out of the equation, by a detour through the grass. This one requires a lower speed, as it's less of a straight shot from the grass and the pavement which can cause a spin.

If you're a worse driver than me, and the above isn't enough, you can do the 450 credit air filter, to max your HP at 425, and add whatever suspension you prefer to help get the car around the track! =)

Try investing a few millions in sony stock. Maybe that'll be "good money" enough for that

You're slowing down for corners too much, that was my problem, when you brake it should be a quick stab on the brake pedal then throttle and sterring input right away.

Never get below 60km/h and any point in the track, youll be able to pull 1:19s easy.

Had pretty much similiar as E30 Evo Sport.
1st challenge was "hard" i mean first position on 4th corner or so of the last lap.
2nd, 3rd and 4th easy win with no problem
5th challenge was a bit of a challenge. Used GT-R SpecV '09 tuned to 499 and all the rest of the clutch etc. Reduced a lil bit max speed since it couldnt get max anyway and finished 0.8xx before ford gt

I golded the first 2 events.

Cheated a bit as I tuned the suspension and used close ratio box to gain a bit of acceleration. Very useful for the Fiat 500 challenge. (Got the bugger out of the last turn on the last lap)

The CR-Z challenge not really since I was in 1st place by lap 3.

I played the events in order, but started doing this with the RX-7 at Deep Forest. I got some of the mods that don't affect power or weight, like suspension, custom transmission, LSD, flywheel/clutch and driveshaft. I forgot to tune everything and made several mistakes, but still took the win by ~1.5secs.

The Indy Challenge was even easier. I passed the leader at turn one of lap 5.

I'm going to go back and do the 500 and CR-Z events again, since I only got 2nd. I hated running out of battery power in the CR-Z. I bet PD planned that, since you could stay on the throttle so much in a car like the CR-Z on a course like Tokyo R246.

I'm still trying to nail the Fiat Challenge, I know I can do it but always seem to get one duff lap, am often around 0.7 seconds behind at the end.

Anyway, the winner just did the race in a shade over 6m43s (I think it was 6:43:08) which gives you on average 1:20:60 per lap. Take into account that the first lap is always slower (is for me anyway, assume it's the starting speed) and you really need to be averaging the lower 1:20's at least. I've had many 1:19's, my best was something like 1:19:30 but I always mess up with a lap over 1:21!

I know with a few more attempts I will nail it though, and i'm sure anyone else could

My mods are the usual air filter and lighter windows, then basic sports suspension, lightest clutch plates, flywheel and close ratio gearbox, and aero parts, though I didn't tweak these so not even sure they help. I've spent a little too much today so don't have the dough for fully customizable gearbox/suspension but will try those if I still can't do it. I have anti-skid on, ASM off (I think...didn't feel a lot of difference either way with these settings though, with this little FF car) and traction control set to 2, ABS set to default 1.

I think a big part of it is getting a smooth line through the first corner, then the left hander where you can often take someone on the inside (with the blue area wider than usual) and the last-but-one corner. The last corner itself you can take flat if you time it right, the steering lock regulates your speed and there is quite a wide run off area on the left just before the start/finish line...use it! (see one of the license tests where the demo replay uses all of this area, it wasn't so forgiving in GT4)
