Details of the Fiat setup which won the race for me... I purposely avoided using an aero package, wanted to see how it could be done without aero...

Fully Customizable Transmission
Twin-Plate Clutch
Semi-Racing Flywheel
Adjustable LSD
Fully Customizable Suspension

A dealer stock Fiat 500 with those modifications comes in right on the power and weight limits.

Settings:

Transmission Top Speed : 140 km/h (about 87 MPH)
LSD : 40 / 60 / 5
Suspension Settings:
Ride Height : -15 / -15
Spring Rate : 8.4 / 6.0
Dampers (E) : 4 / 5
Dampers (C) : 4 / 5
Anti-Roll Bars : 3 / 4
Camber : 2.0 / 1.0
Toe : 0.00 / -0.30
Brake Bias : 3 / 5


All driving aids off except for ABS = 1


With those suspension and differential settings, you can get back to full throttle very early in the tight corners, and you can negotiate the high speed sweepers close to full throttle.

Way too stressful. I just did the entire race with 1:20's, every lap but the first which was 1:21... and still 3 seconds behind 1st place.

dont know why everyone is having such trouble with this one, only thing i did was make sure the weight was down to the min and made sure i had the new flyweel and thats that, nothing else needed. as long as your doing 1.19 for most of the laps you will beat 1st by miles

There are people with widely varied skill levels in this forum. Also, different people are used to different cars and may have problem with others.

Personally, when I have to tackle a very slow car, I always have problems adapting to the right shifting pace. I'm sure other people have similar problems as well.

What "genius" gave the 65Hp limit on the Fiat race? I have a bone stock 500 with an oil change and of course can't enter it. A new one with no oil change will be less competitive (with my "ability" I need all the help I can get!) and as I have only done 9.3 miles another with an oil change will also fail the entry. PD can be seriously annoying at times.

Thats true, another helpful tip is to try and get good speed out of the turns, since once you get it to somewhere below 50 out of a corner the fiat really bogs down

Some fun events, and almost a challenge

CR-Z and RX7 ones were very easy, golded first time, GT-R took a few attempts, but managed it in an upgraded 2007 GT-R.

Fiat 500 one was the most difficult, the key (for me) was slow in - fast out, there are 3 corners on Tsukuba that really benifit from this.

As for tuning, air filter and carbon bonnet, close ratio box, street (I think its called that, not the highest one) clutch and flywheel, LSD, height adjustable suspension (not FC)

Basically left the tunings stock,but added a touch of camber and reduced ride height slightly, with that setup it was more than possible, not easy, but well do-able, you just need to be VERY consistant, not hit any cars, and not go off the track, that combined with slow in - fast out makes it doable.

Hmmm, you can catch the Audi. I can not. I will eventually but at the moment I can't.



ps. I wish that after completing the race with a gold we could go back with whatever car we wanted and kick everyone's ass. I am a petty creature and would love to take revenge.

yeah i find it funny that everyone is struggling so much. seriously it doesn't take many tries before you figure out how the car handles and you can fling it around corners so easily.

its all about exit speed out of corners, AND THE FIRST LAP.

if you do a 1:21 first lap, press start and restart.

suppose its the whole GT culture of just getting a car and MAXING it out and blowing away the competition, not everyone is used to challenges.

i really wish i saved my replay of my fiat 500 win you guys would probally hate me how easy it looked lol (won by like 6 secs)

I started with SSR5, got 2nd place first try. Tried again and got 1st. Did Indy and Deep Forest as well, also got 1st. Doing Tokyo R246 now.

They're not really hard or anything, but they're still fun to do and give much exp and cr.!

Did the fiat 500 race on the second go, into second place just after the start of lap 3 then spend the remaining time hunting down 1st place, passing him on the last corner. bloody brilliant race actually, perfect difficulty level and a lot of fun with the chasing.

As INSTG8R says, sports air filter and window upgrades should be done. and all the flywheel, clutch stuff that doesn't affect weight/power if you like, will only make it easier.

Tsukuba was my "proving ground" on GT4 and i played it a LOT on Forza as well, so i may be a bit good at it by now though.

I struggle on the hairpins. Do you follow the racing line and break zones or make you own line in on hairpin 1 and 3? What speed in MPH should we need to get round all hairpins fast enough?

10mm down at the front and back, one extra click of anti-roll bar at the back, 0.1 camber at the back and a couple of clicks down on the transmission - quick and dirty but good enough to do it without too much fuss 👍

I resent that remark. I've got silver on the Fiat event and gold on all of the others. I love the challenge, but this one is just too much. People were telling me to hit 1:20's, so I hit 1:20's and still the guy in first was a dot on the horizon.

These are awesome, alot of points and ex. I like to keep my cars pretty stock anyway, so I like the feel of the cars you have to use. But I bought the black mask to do the challenge because I have the others already but have they had oil changes. Well you can't use the black mask.. At least I have it now. And do your friends a favor and put the challenge cars up for share. Mine are all greatful for it

turn off racing line, and completely ignore the gear indicator, you can break SO late into every corner but 1. make sure you have TCS turned off too, as it will:

1. sap the power out of the corners until you straighten your wheels fully.
2. cause understeer, leading to 1 becoming worse.

cant really give apex speeds as its not really important - what is important is how close to the apex you can get before breaking, and how far you get around the hairpin before you start accelerating again.

the middle bit is the boring waiting bit, where you go just fast enough to be able to hug it. practice both the bold bits. try breaking in a straight line, but diagonally across the track towards the apex, and accelerating before you think you will be able to - its only a game, if it goes wrong you wont die

Loving these new events, have to use a bit of nous when competing in them.

Most of the cars they want us to use I wouldn't even give a second glance to. I love my Little Fiat now. I came second on the first go so put some fully adjustable suspension and a diff on and it turned into a little beast. With the little terrier I managed to get that A2 just after the first hairpin on the last lap.

The Honda one was massively boring what a piece of rubbish that car is still managed to get first on my first go though.

The RX7 was great fun what an awesome stock car that is. I'm really surprised at how chuckable and easy to drive that car is. Came first on my first go with that one also.

Dodge Challenger, challenge. This car stock is stupid what pointless gearing. Again I put a fully custom box and diff on this it made the car bearable and I won the event by over 10 seconds bit boring this one to be honest.

just about to do the GT-R one not sure what one to buy yet but will update when I've completed.

Used a SpecV '09 modified to 492HP
Beat it on the first go.

R35, either the normal, concept or v-spec are all fine. full weight reductions and as much power as you can manage to put without going over obviously.

I bought a Nissan GT-R Spec V, bought some parts for it and won on my first try. XD

Soft Sport Tyres, Twin Plate Clutch, Semi Racing Flywheel, Carbon Propeller Shaft, Sport Exhaust Manifold, Catalytic Converter Sport, Stage 3 Weight Reduction, Window Weight Reduction, Carbon Bonnet. (Aero Parts if needed.)
TC = 1, ABS = 1 + Guide Line and Skid Recovery Force if needed.

Got me that r35, its worth 150k, spec v or something, done so much tuning, managing to get 3-4 secs behind the Ford GT way into 2nd place, but now that seems to be it..

I think the best things to come out of this are that:

B) It presents a challenge, we can't just overpower the events.

For the SS5 SE I bought the V-spec GT-R (as some pointed out, the Academy GT-R V-spec isn't allowed). Then I bought all the weight reduction kits, aerokits from GT auto and a sports air filter. After this, I won the race on my first attempt. I must say I was a bit disappointed to get 1 000 000 cr. for no effort whatsoever . It's possible to get a big advantage in this event, if you're willing to spend cr. on you car... The other events are different though. The one with the RX-7 took me 2 tries and I haven't yet beaten the damn Fiat 500 Tsukuba Challenge (my best place was 2nd). Don't even get me started about the Indy challenge. It's next to impossible to finish higher than 5th in that heap of junk... I only gave it one try in a stock car though - I'll try again later

Does anyone else hate the fact that you have to be online to race in these bonus races? Why can't they just add the library of events to the A-spec career? Fine keep the time trial events in the seasonal events but addition of new events just to be taken away later doesn't make much sense to me IMO.

I found the Indy race pretty easy, it only took 2-3 tries The SSR5 event was a lot harder for me, I pretty much started off finishing 7th and gradually upgraded and tuned my car enough to place me one better each time. It was fun
